We stayed at the home for a week during our vacation and it is very homey and comfortable. We relaxed by the pool and had family over for a bbq. We would definitely consider staying here again and enjoyed our relaxing time spent in this home.

Owner response:We're glad you enjoyed yourselves and hope you can return in the future. Thanks for staying with us!

Our vacation Mar 2012

We had a wonderful stay!! Sorry did not turn on my computer once, which means I didn't work either! We enjoyed the site seeing in and around Austin. Experienced the Segway tours, downtown 6th street, took in a rodeo and concert. The kids did the zipline over Lake Travis. We found the Segway tours at www.austintours.us it was well worth the money and lasted 2 1/2 hours. Ziplining over Lake Travis was found at www.ziplaketravis.com there were three places to zipline, the last being 1/2 mile long. Then we dined at the Oasis which overlooks Lake Travis. You have a beautiful home and we truely enjoyed coming home after our adventures and playing dominoes or sitting around the pool enjoying each others company. It was a wonderful vacation and we plan on coming back!!

Serene and Comfortable

My wife and I spent 4 nights at this charming getaway just west of Austin. Having booked a number of US and foreign properties in the past, I am pleasantly surprised when a property meets or exceeds its billing. We have high standards and this property was even better than we expected. The pictures suggest that it is tastefully and comfortably furnished. It is. Look and you won't see Walmart plastic. The design of the home is perfect for 2 couples or a small family, with each of the bedrooms isolated from the other. The open floor plan of the kitchen/dining/living area is most inviting. The kitchen was furnished with everything one would hope to find, as we cooked in each night after spending the days exploring the Hill Country. The temperature warmed during the week from 70 to 90, which was a welcome escape from Colorado's cold. We can only imagine how nice the pool is when the weather warms into spring and beyond. We spent evenings in the back patio retreat, under the stars, where the only sounds were distant coyotes and the wind chimes. It seemed impossible that we were so close to the bustle of downtown Austin, yet so pleasantly isolated from it. In sum we enjoyed a most refreshing retreat at Casa Mora. We look forward to visiting again. I cannot speak highly enough of the owners who were most accommodating, accessible and willing to offer suggestions to enhance our visit.

Perfect Hideaway

Guest: GMeadsr (Seattle, Washington)
Date of Stay: 09/04/11 Review Submitted: 09/17/11

My daughter and I visited Austin for the first time to visit our soldier son on leave from Ft. Hood. We took a chance on the relatively remote location [20 - 30 minutes from downtown in traffic] and we were richly rewarded. The home is architecturally pleasing and the furnishings are tasteful and one of a kind. All amenities were included and a serious bonus for us was a newly installed in-ground pool with a limestone terrace. The temperature was hot throughout our stay so we used the pool every day. If our son remains in the Ft. Hood area, we hope to re-visit the home often.

Owner response:We appreciate your kind words. We are especially happy to provide a respite for those in the military. Thanks to your son and all who serve!

Austin visit

Guest: Bev. (Odessa, TX)
Date of Stay: 07/11/11 Review Submitted: 08/03/11

My husband and I chose to share our vacation with our children near an area that offered entertainment. We wanted to be located near Austin and chose the property #188252. When we entered the home we were delighted with the home. It was further away from Austin than we anticipated but the trade off was delightful privacy and an intimate interaction with nature. The house was wonderful and very comfortable with a great layout. There was construction for a new pool in the back yard which we found to be quite interesting and to the excitement our visit {we were notified of this before our arrival and realized it would not affect our stay in any way}. The property/house was clean and very well maintain, its' location quiet, serene and peaceful. The owners were very helpful with any questions as well as keeping us abreast of any changes or concerns. They could not have been more accommodating I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

Owner response:We were reluctant to rent our house while we were building a pool, so we are delighted to hear that the construction did not interfere with the peaceful setting. We feel great when our guests appreciate our place as much as we do. The pool looks fabulous and, along with the shady area behind the house, provides a respite from the heat this summer. We'll post pictures soon!

We were very happy to be able to stay here again for our second visit to Austin. It was great to be close enough into the city for it to be a short drive in - yet far enough out to be able to see the night sky and have a peaceful / quiet evening outside instead of hearing traffic. We would definitely recommend this house (and the owners :) to our family and friends.

My husband and I recently stayed at this delightful vacation rental. It was tastefully decorated, very clean, a spacious living area, and supplied all the things we would need that couldn't be carried in an airplane!! The back yard was private looking out into the forest and had peaceful chimes and the sound of crickets chirping in the background. We would recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful retreat away from the hub-ubb of city life... All pictures were accurate and the owner's were helpful and gracious. We recommend this place highly.

My family gathered at Little Thicket for 3 nights in early June for my youngest son's wedding weekend. Staying in a home together was so much more conducive to a great visit than sterile hotel rooms could ever be. The house layout was perfect. The oldsters (87 and 93 years young) had a quiet room for an earlier bedtime while the rest of us (21 to 68) enjoyed games at the large dining table. The home is very clean, well equipped (we cooked in one night), and BEAUTIFUL. I highly recommend Little Thicket!

We were very happy with our stay here. Rachel and Morrie were very helpful and the house was fantastic. We were looking for something outside of Austin but close enough to be able to easily get into town for work and play. Would love to visit Austin again and this will be our first pick to stay.

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. I can't think of a better place to spend our time in Austin. My friends and I had an amazing time here - gathered around your table, cooking for each other. One morning we woke up to deer in the yard - to our surprise and delight (we're all such city kids :') The deer probably didn't appreciate our photo taking. All in all - your home is beautiful and serene. A perfect place to relax and spend our reunion weekend together. And whoever your interior decorator is - he/she is awesome. Many Thanks. Morrie & Rachel, Our “Boy’s Retreat” was wonderful and much of it had to do with the excellent accommodations with which you provided us. Your home was perfect! Warm, comfortable, cozy – elegance in a pastoral setting. We sat around playing our guitars, singing, chatting and basically catching up on our lives. We took several long walks, sat around the campfire one night, and visited several night spots as well as the Salt Lick, Wimberley, and, our favorite, Luckenback! So thanks again for sharing what ya’ll have created here on Little Thicket Road!

Away from it all, yet close enough.

Date of Stay: 01/04/10 Review Submitted: 05/20/10

We were in town for the arrival of our first grandchild and desired a home large enough to accommodate our daughter's family. The design of the home is perfect, we never heard anything from the master suite, which was ideal with a newborn in the home. The 2nd bedroom was even equipped with a rocking chair and enough room for the bassinet. The 3rd bedroom is small, but the futon worked fine for 2 small children. This home was absolutely perfect! Outside of town just enough to have peace and quiet, but close enough to have all the restaurants in South Austin available to us. If you want to miss the city of Austin altogether, Bee Caves is right up the road and offers shopping and dining. The home is nicely decorated and very comfortable. We had all the comforts of home, speedy internet, wonderful linens, numerous television stations; we longed for nothing, except for nicer weather, but it was January. There is a large fire pit and plenty of firewood available. We enjoyed the many deer that grazed in or near the property and the birds. We saw several Cardinals and other birds enjoying the feeders and bird baths. The home had birding books and binoculars available for us as well. The owners were very helpful to our needs, particularly when we unexpectedly needed to extend our stay. We made a couple of day trips to Pedernales Falls and Hamilton Pool located conveniently not to far away. I would highly recommend this vacation property to anyone. We very definitely enjoyed our month there and would happily return. I can only imagine the beauty of the property in the Spring and Fall.

Great Retreat at Hill Country Serenity!

Date of Stay: 05/08/09 Review Submitted: 05/19/09

Hello Morrie and Rachel, Well kept- upbeat place ! Great amenities ! Very clean ! We certainly enjoyed our stay at your place and completely lost track of our check out day ! We went to Pedernales Falls on Weds PM . Great place to visit near Austin! We felt home and automatically treated your home like ours and Michael watered the front whenever he could. Reading Rachel's book- my mother-in-law could not put the book down when they visited last Sunday- I (Maria) am still at the first few chapters... and what a vocation .....saving another person's life.....We all need to have a glimpse of how a person goes through split personalities, and as Rachel says, we all have some sort of different personalities anyways.....We will treasure the book forever! All our family enjoyed your place and we would be happy to be back again whenever we could ! Thanks a lot for the beautiful accomodation and considerations ! To health and healing, Michael and Maria and family

Beautiful!

Date of Stay: 03/17/09 Review Submitted: 04/07/09

This is a beautiful home in a very quiet setting. The outside space was so relaxing. We used this house for our family when we can to Austin for a wedding. We enjoyed it very much. The third bedroom is quite small and really only accommodates one person, although there is lots of space in the living room as well. The owners were extremely helpful and provided all the information that we needed. We would definitely use this property again if the need arises and would recommend this property to our friends.

Owner response:Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate that our guests are enjoying the serenity and beauty of our home. Just a comment about the third bedroom: we did convert it into a very functional office/den with all the amenities of both, bookcase, desk, computer, desk, printer, and fold out bed. Therefore, the person staying in that room will have less bedroom space but more work space. We pride ourselves in offering a peaceful and practical home away from home for our guests. Best, Morrie and Rachel

Peaceful retreat, terrific owners

Guest: Austin family in a hill country retreat (Austin, TX)
Date of Stay: 12/28/08 Review Submitted: 01/07/09

We were looking for a place in the hill country to stay at that was close enough so that we could "get away" for a few days but near enough that my spouse could still go to work downtown. This place was terrific! Our family stayed here at the end of December and we had a lovely, peaceful, quiet, wonderful time. The home is lovely, the owner is great to deal with, and everything about the stay is designed to give guests a pleasant and relaxing experience. We recently stayed at another vacation rental, and I would say the difference is that this one felt like a vacation home with very thoughtful touches (wine, decor) and the other one felt like a rental. We all (including our children) highly recommend it. The Austin Zoo is nearby, which makes for an easy activity if you have young children (bring a picnic lunch along because the food options are a vending machine or sno-cones & hot dogs & such from the lone vendor inside). The home is also relatively close (and an easy drive) to Pedernales State Park and Hamilton Pool Preserve. It's on the edge of town so you can enjoy anything in Austin during your stay and then just make the short drive back to this quiet, peaceful place. We can't wait to stay without the kids (I'm dreaming, of course) and really enjoy the serenity of the home and setting. Pets are not allowed, but there are a few boarding places very nearby.

Great Escape after Hurricane Ike

Guest: Robin M. (Spring, Texas)
Date of Stay: 09/20/08 Review Submitted: 10/07/08

We live in Houston and we stayed here just after Hurricane Ike. We had been without power for a week, and needed a calming get-away. This house was perfect. Our family enjoyed the quiet backyard and loved watching the deer parade by. The outdoor ping pong table provided a lot of entertainment. The house was very comfortable and we had room to spread out. We really just enjoyed having air conditioning, and doing our laundry. The house is close enough to town to make it very convenient, yet sitting in the tranquil backyard, it felt like a million miles away. It was just what we needed.

Owner response:We love our place and were especially happy to offer it to those fleeing the hurricane. New visitors will see even more wildlife. We just put out bird feeders and provide binoculars so everyone can enjoy more of the beauty of the area.

Comment Text: What a great place. Cute, well cared for and just fantastic. This house has all I could have wanted in a getaway. it's tucked away in the country but still just a short distance from the Austin scene and a short drive to the beautiful Texas hill country. GREAT shopping, wine tours and food. The house was even nicer than advertised and was clean, well furnished and just perfectly romantic. The outdoor area is relaxing and tranquil.. I DEFINITELY recommend this rental!!!
