The town of Mineral is a pleasant four hour drive from the San Francisco Bay Area through some of the most interesting and prosperous farm lands of California, and a fine place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. A fifteen minute drive from Mineral will take you to the entrance of Mount Lassen Volcanic National park to see the hydro-thermal wonders of an active volcano, view the waterfalls, take winter ranger led - free of charge - snow hikes, or even play in the snow in summertime. There are two small airports near Mineral, each thirty miles away, one at Red Bluff and the other at Chester on the shores of Lake Almanor. Chester also has a golf course. An easy five minute drive from Mineral takes you to the local swimmming hole and trout fishing. We have three chalets adjacent to each other, see listing #175926 and #188315, and together can accomodate a total of 34 people. A great venue for reunions, family gatherings, religious retreats, or school field trips. Our chalets are situated in the Cool-Air subdivision of Mineral, so named because the summer temperature at it's 5,000 ft elevation, is 20 degrees cooler than the Sacramento valley. As summer draws to a close we bring your attention to a very exciting event in the history of Lassen Volcanic National Park, the opening of the brand new South entrance visitors center. This state of the art modern structure is a wonder of green building practices, an architectural masterpiece which will officially open Saturday, October 4th. Take time to visit before the snow flies, and enjoy McGovern's Mount Lassen chalets for a few days. We are the closest accomodations to the park entrance, with the most attractive rates in the area. Why not visit Lassen Volcanic Park now at its best, the season of fall colors, with days that are sunny and bright. On Saturday, October 4th, enjoy the Manton apple festival, midway between Red Bluff and Mineral, off Highway 36 east, an olde tyme ccountry event of art, crafts, apple pies, food and old time country music. Come on up. We can accomodate you comfortably on these cool nights with plenty of complimentary firewood for the cozy wood stoves. |
