Relax and enjoy the best the Maine Coast has to offer. The Milestone is a large, airy cottage with magnificent views of the Ocean, situated in a peaceful and friendly community, which is only minutes away from all that Boothbay Harbor has to offer. The Milestone is perfect for entertaining or just sitting on the wide porch that runs along the entire Ocean side of the house. The front yard spills down to the Ocean and has direct access to a dock maintained by the Juniper Point association(and which can be used by guests). The Milestone is located at the end of a private road so there is very little traffic.
The first floor includes the kitchen, a dining area that is part of the great living room, the master suite and bathroom. The living room looks directly out at the Ocean and Moores Landing dock through a wall of windows and sliding doors that access the first floor porch. A large Rinnai space heater, and comfortable furniture make this living room a delightful place to entertain or to simply relax in front of a fire. Wood floors were refinished in living room in 2010, furniture updated and room repainted so the great living area truly sparkles. The Master includes a small dressing area with sink, a bedroom with queen size bed, and its own bath with shower and tub. The Master also opens to the deck and has Ocean views. Artwork by Nancy Hemenway throughout including oil paintings, watercolors and wall hangings gives the house a unique feel. Library includes catalogues and poetry by the artist
The second floor includes an open landing area, and three bedrooms that share the bathroom. Each of the three bedrooms also looks out at the Ocean and opens to the upstairs deck. The largest bedroom has two twin beds, the bedroom/office has a double bed, and the third bedroom also has a double bed. Floors were buffed and refinished in 2010.
In addition there is a large third floor loft that has a queen size bed, recently refinished pine floors, and dormer views to the Ocean and Townsend gut.
The Milestone can be rented by itself, or for larger parties there are several other properties on the Point that can be rented to accommodate family gatherings, weddings, etc. There is parking for several cars. The Juniper Point Association maintains four clay tennis courts just up the road, along with several docks and Reed beach, a short walk to the next cove over. A large playing field is just 100 feet away, and is a great place for kids.
Boothbay Harbor is only 5 minutes away by car, and can also be accessed easily by boat. A perfect location from which to explore the entire mid-coast region of Maine!

Why the Owner Chose Boothbay Harbor
The Milestone was the summer home of Bill's parents, Bob and Nancy Hemenway Barton. Her parents first visited the area in 1913, and built their summer home, the Beehive, in 1917-18. The house is still used by our family during July and August, primarily, and has undergone recent renovations in 2008/09. Further upgrades to the exterior and the interior were completed in June of 2010 including refinishing of wood floors, new furniture in living room, painting of selected rooms and further work to the exterior (replaced windows, reshingling, etc).
The Unique Benefits at this House
The outdoors and the beautiful, scenic Maine coast are the primary attraction. We delight in sailing, boating, fishing, swimming off the docks, picnics, golf and tennis. Lots of intergenerational activities with children, grandchildren, brothers, cousins and with friends who come back to Juniper Pt year after year. Relaxing on the front porch, and just taking in the wonderful views and the fresh ocean breeze--just breathing the air in Maine is special!
Owner's Map of Boothbay Harbor
Bill and Lisa Barton--long time summer residents of West Boothbay Harbor and Juniper Point. Bill's mother, the artist Nancy Hemenway, was born in Boothbay in 1920 and brought her family here each summer. Bill's father, Bob, still summers on Juniper Point as do his two brothers and numerous cousins. Bill is a past president of the Juniper Point Association which is dedicated to preserving this beautiful area, while maintaining tennis courts, the community house, trails, docks and beach access for all its members and guests.

We had such a wonderful time! The house is lovely and the views are just breathtaking. We brought our kayaks and were able to kayak almost everyday right off the dock. The neighborhood is friendly and our children had a blast playing tennis. We'll definitely be back!
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
