Perfect Spring Break!!
Perfect Spring Break!!

I could not have picked a better place to stay for Spring Break with 3 teenage boys! The house felt like home, was clean and welcoming, the location was PERFECT, relaxing and peaceful! The boys enjoyed the hot tub, the horseshoe pits, the large backyard to throw the football around and taking morning jogs around the large private pond. The beds were very comfortable. There was one issue with one of the bedroom TV's and Amy solved the problem ASAP! If I had to list one thing I did not like with the house, it would be that the downstairs bathroom did not have a shower. Other than that, the house was just what we needed. We can't wait to come back!! Thanks Amy :)Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Hi Deana, I'm thrilled you had a fantastic spring break with the boys and enjoyed Swaying Pines for the week. Yes, I want to install a shower downstairs so bad. It's on my honey-please-let's-get-this-done list and has been for some time. This is Rick's favorite cabin so maybe I can get his OK to redo the bathroom in the off-season. Thanks for the review and we'd love to have you back again anytime!

During our Grandchildren's spring break, we stayed with our son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids at this excellent property in Gatlinburg. The accommodations were clean and well appointed. Especially, the kitchen was excellently equipped with all we needed to prepare & serve meals for our group (saved lots on expenses). The Jacuzzi really was a pearl of our stay; and, we were in it daily. The location was quiet and out of the way - with quick access to the Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge. Our owners were very responsive and helpful; and, we felt welcomed and at ease during our stay. We're already looking forward to our next visit.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you, Gary and family! It's great to know that Swaying Pines was a comfortable retreat for your vacation. It's not fancy but we aim to make it comfortable and well put together so you can concentrate on relaxing and having a good time. I'm glad you liked the kitchen set up. We've had many family dinners there and it's nice to have everything you need. Please come again!

As usual, Amy had us feeling like family from the moment we arrived! The "Pines" was clean and neat as a pin and stocked with everything we needed but groceries. And my husband took care of that!!!! And our big friend "The Golden" came to see us the day we arrived and regularly during our stay. He also came the morning we were leaving and tried his hardest to convince us to stay. I wanted to bring him home with us!!!!!! The beds were wonderfully comfortable and I wanted to spend too much time in them. The fireplace was so cozy that when we got back home, we went to Lowe's and bought us an electric one so that we could have that feeling all winter here in AL. Chris really enjoys the hot tub and Abby really enjoys walking around the neighborhood and around the lake. I just enjoyed being there again and forgetting all my worries. The biggest decisions that I made while we were there was what to wear each day and what to eat. And we finally met you Amy!!! You are just as warm and wonderful as we thought you would be! And every time we have stayed with you, which has been many times, we have been more than satisfied!!! We look forward to the next time!!! Much success to you and Rick and your family in all that you do!! We are thankful to have you as a friend and "landlord"!! :DRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Stephanie, you put a smile on my face as I read your review. Especially when you said you went home and got a fireplace after enjoying the cabin's so much. Yes, the neighbor's Golden Retriever needs to be put on the paid staff as our official greeter. He love meeting all the guests and then begging for treats from the jar in the kitchen...he knows we have them LOL Thank you for the wonderful review and sharing your experience with others. We'll do dinner again when you're in town...you know where to find me!

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon and we were able to bring our two fuzzy children with us (lab mix dogs). The cabin was close enough to town to enjoy the touristy stuff and still far enough away to enjoy some romantic privacy. I really enjoyed the cabin, it was clean and homey!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you, Laura! I'm glad you, your husband and the "kids" enjoyed Swaying Pines. Congratulations on your wedding and I'm so happy to know you found it homey and comfortable!

As you pull up the driveway to Swaying Pines the feeling of being home comes to mind. Everything about this cabin welcomes you. Perfect location and personal touches make the experience here wanting you to return year after year. You could stay at the cabin and enjoy fishing, experience the beauty of nature and relax in the hot tub or travel 5 minutes and be in the heart of Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Recommendations to eat at area restaurants such as the Blue Moose and the Smokey Mountain Brewery were just as described and left us wanting to eat there again and again. The experience in its entirety felt like dealing with a friend and just as with friends we want to return for a visit year after year.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This was my family's first out of state vacation in over 10 years. We enjoyed our stay at Amy's cabin. We were not far from the things we wanted to explore and vist. We would stay there again. I have a 14 year son that was with us and he did not once complained about anything. I felt that the area was safe and the cabin was very neat and clean. Oh! they are correct when telling you about the cell phone service AT & T service was bad, but i didn't mind. We were there to have fun!Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

We just returned from our 3rd Memorial Day Weekend at your cabin and once again had a wonderful time. The cabin and location are absolutely perfect! The best get away! Thank you for the personal note, you are the warmest hostess! Hope to return next year. Can't wait!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you, Lynn! You and Charles have stayed at Swaying Pines enough times that I thought this was number 4 when it was really your 3rd visit LOL Well either way, it's so nice to have repeat guests and ones that enjoy the cabin as much as you do. I hope you'll be able to come back in 2013. Thank you for the compliments--I'm very flattered. Amy

The cabin was wonderful, clean and very cozy. Close to the park where my husband, son, daughter and son in law hiked up the mountain to a waterfall while my other daughter and I took part in a tour hike of the civil war. We hiked to a 150 plus year old cabin and cemetery and then on our own, hiked to Cataract Falls. That night, we enjoyed the hot tub and grilled out. The next day brought zip lining. We also drove up to New Found Gap and enjoyed the majestic view and a bear playing in the woods. We took lots of pictures and made great memories. We also went into town, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and shopped. On our last night, we ate Smokey Mountain grill where we enjoyed great food and a live band. We celebrated our youngest son's 19th birthday and Mother's Day. We took this trip because our youngest son is leaving for boot camp, US Marine Corp, and wanted family time away together. The cabin, tucked away in the woods, was the perfect setting for our family trip. Thank you Amy.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Wow, you packed so much into 3 days! It sounds like you all had a wonderful time and made every moment count. That is so nice to hear that you spent some special time together as a family before your son leaves for boot camp. Thank you for being our guests, Leslie, and I hope you'll come again to celebrate more good times!

One again, Amy has provided us with a wonderful vacation home! We are overjoyed that Abby (our dachsund) is able to accompany us! A pet home with NO pet smell! And, as usual, time flew! It looked just like the photos! The Christmas decorations were beautiful! I showed by husband how to play horseshoes....he had never played before. Amy provides you with all you need (detergent, dryer sheets, flashlights, FLAMELESS CANDLES, pens, paper, tin foil, spices, scissors, etc.) The things that you forget, are here waiting for you. All the kitchen stuff you need is also here, as well as cleaning supplies. The beds were so comfortable, and even with so much to do up here, we got 7-8 great hours of sleep each night in these beds. You are so close to everything at this home. The drive to the chalet is very easy. We had such a wonderful time here...but, we always do when we stay with Amy. She seems to know what makes you feel at home, and provides it. Oh yeah, and she even has "doggy sheets" for the sofa. That was really thoughtful and we weren't having to always remember to bring her blankets from upstairs for her to lie on. The hot tub was wonderful, and you feel so secluded here even though you aren't. Her other homes are wonderful too, but Swaying Pines has that little something that makes you feel like part of a community with the lake so close by. The neighborhood (and its friendly canines) is so nice. A couple of them accompanied us when we walked around the lake. It is just a great place for a walk or jog or just sitting in the swing or on the porch. I really hate to leave here in the AM, but it is back to work on Monday. THANK YOU AMY and family for all you do!!!! You really know how to treat your guests!!!! Hoping to return very soon to one of your homes!! God Bless You All and Merry Christmas!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Stephanie, I couldn't ask for nicer guests and a more glowing review! Thank you for sharing our Swaying Pines "secret." This is not the big fancy log cabin 'experience' but more like a place you can relax and enjoy with no worries. I was at Swaying Pines last night to do some work, and yes, our Golden Retriever friend came by for a treat and some lovin' LOL I think he's the goodwill ambassador for us. Thanks Stephanie and I hope someday you get to complete our quartet of cabins with a visit to Waters' Edge!

Our stay at Swaying Pines was absolutely WONDERFUL!!! My kids had the best time. Now they say we can never visit the Smokies and stay at any other property. The cabin exceeded our expectations. Everything was clean and well stocked. We felt completely at home and our stay was totally stress free. Thank you Amy for sharing such a wonderful home with us. We will definitely book another stay. Oh, and our Shih-Tzu Cissy felt right at home too. PS Amy, it was just what my dear mother in law needed. Did her a lot of good to relax at the cabin.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I'm glad your entire family had such a great time and the cabin was a hit with everyone, even the dog! Thank you Cheryl and please come again anytime.

About the owner: Hi, I'm Amy Greener and I'm happy to offer our guests clean, updated accommodations that won't break the piggy bank. My husband Rick and I own four cabins altogether and make it a priority to work on them several times a year. Good maintenance and upkeep is at the top of our list as owners. And we think you'll notice our attention to detail as soon as you arrive. Thank you for considering our pet friendly cabins.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Stoplight 1:
Lots of people ask us why we chose this area to buy a vacation rental, when there are so many beautiful properties in the northern areas of Michigan. Honestly, it boiled down to two big factors: money and weather. With three young children, we didn't have much money to work with. We were looking specifically for a modest, fixer-upper. And Michigan gets mighty cold after October, so we headed south for our cabin search. We love the Smokies, the history of the area and it's welcoming people. We've made many friends and acquaintances there over the years, and you can't help but feel that wonderful southern charm and hospitality wherever you go.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Swaying Pines is a hidden gem...only 5 minutes from either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. We especially enjoy the short drive to either town when it's really busy, like holidays. The 6 acre lake is privately owned so you don't need to spend $16 for a fishing license. It's so relaxing to take a walk around the corner to the lake and drop a line...or just make a loop around the lake for some exercise. The horseshoes are lots of fun, too. Something we don't have at home and everyone really enjoys. We own a border collie and a mini-Aussie/Sheltie, both which love to visit the mountains with us. Swaying Pines is our favorite cabin of our three to stay in when we bring the pets along. They have a small yard area to play in and we can take them for walks.
