Wow! what a wonderful home you all have. We came down from Staunton with a few friends and had the LR Womens Soccer team over for dinner Sat. night and you wouldnt have known they were there the house was so big! We brought down a jetski which they enjoyed despite the cold water. They had a wonderful time with pool table, foosball, pingpong, hottub and so much more. There was plenty of kitchens to cook for everyone and plenty of tables to eat at. Nice setting and dock was nice and sunny. So much fun was had by all. Thanks for sharing your wonderful home with us and allowing us to check out late on Monday since the soccer game was in the afternoon. That made it so much more convenient. We will be back. I'd like to start by saying your house is fabulous. We were really very comfortable with just a few exceptions and I'd like to share them with you. More on that in a moment. First and foremost, the good: We loved the layout! We only ended up with 14 so we had plenty of room and privacy for everyone. This is the first home that we have talked about renting again. From the dock to the fire pit to the morning porch and the rec room, there was always a different spot for all us to get together and play games or talk or do what we do best, eat. Which brings me to my personal favorite. Having two kitchens and three refrigerators was a total blessing! A quick run to the store by one or two people was the only reason any of us left the camp all week. You guys have provided so many amenities and "toys" that we didn't need to visit an attraction to have fun. We loved all of the yard games and kayaks, canoe and other lake toys. The hot tub, pool and ping pong tables were used by all of us. We enjoyed playing cards in the game room off the main rec room. Have I mentioned How. Much. Space. there was?? We loved it! There's a rock right across the lake that we docked at and happened upon a trail that led to a boy scout cabin. What fun that trail was to walk. Speaking of fun, we held a field day on Tuesday and boy did we have a blast. Having the whole yard to play in was fantastic! Now the very short list of negative: Firstly, the spiders are unbearably bad. They are everywhere! And we aren't afraid of a few spiders (in fact, we have been known to take lots of pictures when we see one) but when they're making webs in the chair you sit in or crawling in the hoodie of your jacket, well its a bit much. The other issue we had were the appliances. If we had known that the dishwasher needed to be run twice at times or the oven heated to a much higher degree than you intend, we would have been better prepared and would have rinsed the dishes better and not burned so many dinners. The only other, very minor issue we had was the absence of tvs in the bedrooms. Some nights, after a long day of cooking, cleaning and playing with 14 other people, most of us just wanted to lay in bed and watch a little tv. Adding tvs to the bedrooms would be a huge plus for us but we weren't lost without them either. All in all, we loved your home. We are seriously considering returning next year. Thank you so much for opening your beautiful "camp" to us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We held our annual women's retreat at this house -- we had 22, and all slept comfortably. The dual kitchens were a gift, and the view of the water is spectacular! The house has a wonderful relaxed feel. Its the kind of place you just want to never leave..... can't wait to rent it again!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This home was truly a home. You felt welcomed as soon as you entered. Everything was in working order. We had been recommended to try this house and I in turn have recommended it to many others. The lake views were specular! We did rent a pontoon boat for 2 days and explored the lake. The water was warm and the dock gave us easy access to it. We enjoyed the kayaks and canoe. The hot tub was very large and worked perfectly. We will be back! The toys provided for the youngest members was a pleasant unexpected surprise. The game room was large.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

This property worked great for our family coming from VA, NC, PA, OH, and IN. We had 12 adults from 19 to 77 and everybody found a bedroom and bathroom that suited them (quiet/loud, early riser/late sleeper, private/shared) on three different floors. There would have been plenty of beds and bathrooms for more adults and kids without feeling crowded. The two kitchens came in handy, and the rec room kitchen is close to the big gas grill that we used for one meal. And there were plenty of tables on the main floor, in the basement rec room, and outside for indoor and outdoor meals, games, puzzles, reading, etc.. The pingpong table and foosball table in the rec room were great and well used. We even had room to setup a music area in the rec room (small drum set, PA system with four mics, small guitar amp, 2 electric guitars, about 5 or 6 acoustic guitars, and assorted smaller instruments). This is a BIG house. The hammock, lawn chairs (plenty of them), canoe, and hot tub were all used and enjoyed throughout our week. The hot tub especially is very large, seating 6 or more comfortably, sheltered from direct sun, and facing the lake so it was a favorite gathering place. The house is easy to get to off both I40 and Rt 321 which are the major arteries in every direction, although it may be a bit confusing to find the first time. The lakefront location is very close to a marina where we rented a pontoon boat for a day and had a great time cruising on the smooth, quiet lake. Highly recommended--if we come back we'll make sure we rent a boat for the whole week. Even on the weekend we were there, the boat traffic wasn't heavy or fast, so it was easy to steer and dock the boat at the dock right in front of the house. If our travels bring us back to Hickory, we would definitely rent this house again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We are a group of 5 families with 20 people between the ages of 3 and 80 who stayed over Thanksgiving weekend. We had several families from Florida and one family that was from New Jersey. Hickory was a great halfway meeting point. We had a great time! The little ones enjoyed the big yard and dock. We had 5 teenage boys that loved the canoe and kayaks - along with the dock and firepit. Having 2 kitchens was a blessing while preparing our huge Thanksgiving feast. The game rooms downstairs gave all the kids somewhere to go while the adults enjoyed the sunroom, living room, and the upper level dining deck. The convenience of having the food store, marina, and a Walmart was also enjoyable. We had a wonderful weekend and couldn't have asked for anything better!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We stayed at Camp-Run-A-Muck for a family reunion and 80th birthday celebration. The property was spotless and well maintained. Someone even came and cut the grass while we were there. We were from age 10 to 80 and everyone absolutely enjoyed themselves. The canoe, kayaks, fishing equipment, and game room were enjoyed by all. There is plenty of room to spread out and everyone could find his/her own space.Karen and Shawn recommended Flat Rock Grille for dinner. We went there for the birthday diner and were very satisfied. We would definitely recommend this property. Thank you Karen and Shawn for allowing us to share your lovely homeRecommended for: Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

August 2009 Rob and Bonnie Jupiter FL The pictures of this home do not do it justice. What a lovely lake house. Floor plan is great for extended family. Enough space for everyone to have privacy. We visited with ages from 10-83 and it was great. Games, toys, noodles, etc. By evening everyone was so tired we didn't have to worry about much entertainment! The marina is really close, good boat rentals and helpful with navigation maps. We explored a different area of the lake each day by pontoon. This was the first time in many years my husband was actually relaxed! Thanks so much Karen and Shawn for sharing this wonderful haven on the lake with us.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

As our family continues to grow, we find it more and more difficult to vacation together. This was the perfect answer! We brought four generations ranging from 15 months to age 64 and there was something for everyone to do. The six bedrooms afforded us our own space as well. The entire home is incredibly spacious. Much better than being cramped in hotel rooms! The kitchens were well stocked with everything we needed. We found the house very family friendly. There were plenty of books, DVD's, board games, toys and floats. The kayaks and canoe were awesome for leisurely "strolls" around the lake. We also brought our bass boat and enjoyed plenty of fishing. We made great use of the deck for sun bathing and when you're ready for a swim, a dive off the boat dock is the ticket! We were fortunate enough to enjoy the Fourth of July at the lake house. This was the perfect place to cookout for a crowd and enjoy the fireworks (from the Hickory Crawdads stadium) right from the front lawn. We cranked up the firepit and made smores. It was a perfect way to spend the Fourth. We only wish we could have stayed longer! We will definitely be back! One last thought...great owners to work with!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.
