Thank you for viewing our site! By now, you’ve probably looked at quite a few houses and perhaps they all seem the same, nothing special. Well, you’ve found what you’ve been looking for: a beautiful and well cared for, not to mention fun, comfortable and conveniently located home in a family-friendly community!
Our family has stayed in many beach houses over the past years; most were disappointing. I quickly discovered there are only a handful of attractive, clean, and well cared for houses out there to be rented; all of which are booked-up at least a year in advance, and rightfully so.
I grew tired of paying good money on the promise of a few well-positioned photos—only to find a miserable rental—and decided to find our own place. I wanted a great beach home to share with all of our friends and family, plus the friends we’ve yet to meet! This house is the one. It’s whimsical, spacious, clean, 100 yards from the beach, and has a crow’s nest lookout.
We call the house, Oz by the Sea. It’s beachside location and large decks make it perfect for dining al fresco. The view of the ocean and the sound of the surf provide atmosphere and melody for entertaining.
Our guests say, "We had a fantastic weekend in your home, it was everything we hoped for...relaxing, fun, action packed (volleyball at the beach), and memorable."
If there are any little pirates, stargazers or porpoise spotters among you, they can climb up to the crow’s nest at the top of the house, facing the gulf, and have a little adventure.
The interior of our home has been nicely remodeled, making you feel welcome, pampered and indulged. The living room is comfortable and cozy and even has a reading nook for the kids. This room is tastefully decorated and provides extra sleeping space for one with an ottoman/sleeper that makes into a slim, yet very comfortable, twin size bed; perfect for that teenager that needs his or her “own space.”
The master bedroom has a brand new pillow-top king size bed, and a bathroom with an over-sized shower. There is also a screened-in porch off the master bedroom, facing the gulf…great for nodding off while reading that summer novel or even for a dreamy night in the right weather.
The second bedroom has a full and a twin size bed. The third bedroom has twin size bunk beds, for the youngest pirates aboard to enjoy.
The kitchen is fully stocked (all cooking utensils, pots and pans plus Panini press and waffle maker) for the chef in the family with all modern appliances, Corian countertops and bar seating for six.
All linens, paper towels and TP are provided. There are games and books for all ages. There is a large flat screen TV and movies for the entire family—a great way to end a fun, sun-drenched day at the beach.
I have also provided oversized, quality beach towels for your use as well as oodles of beach toys. There are beach chairs and a small cooler for you to take out to the beach.
Oz by the Sea is on a quiet, dead-end road. The area is known as Palm Beach and is one of the oldest and most established on the island.
Automobiles are not allowed on the beach here, so your family is safe to frolic in the waves and build sand castles without dodging vehicles. If you are a horse lover, there is a place a few minutes away for you to rent one and go for a ride on the beach!
I think you’ll agree that all of this makes our beach home a wonderful place for your family to retreat to for their holiday in the sun. Plus, there are lovely restaurants nearby, golf, fishing, miniature golf, the seawall walkway, pedal carts that will carry a family of six, bicycle rentals, historic tours, sight-seeing boat rides, a historical air museum with classic plane rides available.

So, when we need a little escape, to slow down and just enjoy our lives, we head to Oz by the Sea! We have wonderful neighbors there, amazing views and a clean, beautiful and QUIET beach waiting with open arms!
Why the Owner Chose Palm Beach
We chose the West End of Galveston Island because it was just far enough away from all the busy areas of SeaWall Blvd. yet close enough for us to go in for a nice dinner or lunch whenever I didn't feel like cooking! We also chose the West End for the quiet, private beaches and the family atmosphere of the area. Our beach is restricted from vehicles, so this also keeps the partying crowd away and thus makes our beach safe for children to wander and play on!
The Unique Benefits of this House
My most important goal for my guests at our beach home is for them to feel 'at home!' I try very hard to provide all the little extras, like suncreen, beach towels, beach chairs, beach toys, boogie boards, volleyball nets, you name it, we probably have it at Oz! As a parent I know what a pain in the neck it is to tow all those things along with you on your journey to the beach, so if I can make your trip here more comfortable as well, then I am pleased!! I want to make going away to Oz for the weekend, easy and carefree as well as wonderful!

Wonderful time! House layout lends itself to large gathering, small group breakout areas and/or private alone time nooks. Clear view of beach from master bedroom, living area and porch. All amenities provided. Quiete, residential street without "touristy" feel. Owner personable and accomodating leading up to and during stay. Weather great mix of cool nights and mild days. beaches with just the right balance of people and solitude. Would highly reccommend!

We couldn't have asked for a better place to take our family of 5. Our kids (ages13, 11, and 2) had perfect accomodations, with the DVD player in their room, a full stock of movies for everyone's taste, and even a bedrail and highchair for our toddler! We really didn't need to bring anything except our clothes, because your home has everything. The beach was just a short walk away and so private that we felt like it was our own personal space. All the furniture and linens are high quality, the kitchen fully stocked with appliances, cooking utensils, etc.. and the beach theme throughout the housemade it even more fun. We are trying to figure out where to put a hanging swing at our house because we loved yours on the lanai so much. I still find myself wanting to sneak out to that space with a book to read to relax and listen to the waves. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts and sharing your home - we can't wait to return! :)

My sisters-in-law and I chose Oz by the Sea from on line and found it to be everything as pictured. Great house, fantastic views, comfortable living areas (the mattresses were exceptional). Katherine was a lovely hostess and receptive to all my calls about various things. The large deck allowed us a great gathering place to laugh and enjoy the great views and the beaches were perfect for those long walks and long talks as we are all from different parts and rarely get to spend some time together. We had great food in town ( Landry's) (a short drive) and a great visit to Moody Museum. There are lots of activities for all ages yet you never have to leave the house as Katherine has provided every creature comfort that one may need. I would recommend this house to all my friends and look forward to our next visit. Thanks, Katherine

This home was phenomenal. Completely surpassed our expectations. You automatically feel at home when you first walk in. All the extras provided (bed rail, fans, children's seating, easily accessible washer/dryer. etc.) were a fantastic bonus and all the whimsical decorations just added to the fun. Listening to the waves hit the shore at night was the best and most relaxing lullaby I had ever heard. We were there over the long weekend and the beach traffic was low and the people that were there were friendly and fun. We ate all our meals at the table outside on the large deck where we could see, hear and smell the ocean. Our daughter loved going up to the crow's nest and pretending to be a pirate. She had an amazing time. When we arrived back at our house she asked us to go back to "our other home". I would definitely recommend to a family looking for an easy, laid back experience where you don't have to stress out about remembering every little thing to bring as the chances that the items are already there are quite high and if it's not, it's only a few minutes to the store. Katherine answered our emails promptly and was very friendly. I want to thank her for offering such a truly amazing beach house. We are already trying to find out when we will be able to return.
