  This unit was awesome!! Fully stocked with everything you need!! Super clean upgraded and roomy enough for 4 adults. Loved it!! The view was amazing and we saw whales and sea turtles almost every day. Any grocery shopping or bites to eat are within walking distance. The resort itself is nice and clean with BBQ's a pool, shuffleboard etc. The only downside which really isn't a big deal is that you really do have to be super quiet by 10pm and this is strongly enforced. Otherwise we had a great time and I am so thankful we found such a wonderful place to stay.

The layout allows for every unit to have a lanai that opens out to a view of either the ocean, pools or gardens or some combination of these. Many guests keep windows open to enjoy the fabulous trade winds and sounds of the surf, so we love the fact that Papakea has “quiet hours” between 10 pm and 7am.   We just returned from 15 glorious days at Mimi and Jim’s Maui home. We loved every minute of our vacation. The condo is perfect…it was absolutely spotless when we arrived. The kitchen is very well equipped and there were plenty of towels (including beach towels) and supplies. The beds were so comfortable! The Hawaiian décor is very tasteful and it feels like you’re a million miles away from reality. The top floor oceanfront view is spectacular so we spent a lot of time on the lanai! We had banana bread from the farmer’s market, fruit and coffee every morning and many “POG” martinis in the evening. We enjoyed the whales, turtles and beautiful sunsets. Our teenage daughter had the loft to herself which she loved. The whole process from booking to payment to the keyless entry was seamless. Mimi handled everything quickly and we appreciated all her recommendations. We would absolutely recommend this condo! Thank you Jim and Mimi…we are already looking forward to returning for another relaxing vacation!

  My husband and I recently stayed at Jim and Mimi's oceanfront condo at the Papakea resort in Feb 2013. It was amazing. It was our first time to Maui and we LOVED it! The condo was so clean and comfortable. Everything you could need was there. We just got our groceries at the supermarket about a block away and we were set! We had breakfast and supper on the lanai every day and watched the whales...there were LOTS of them! I loved having the ocean front view. We had a rainbow almost every day over the ocean, SO beautiful. The bed in the main floor bedroom is SO comfortable. Never slept better. It was so nice and cool in the condo in the evenings that we never once needed the air conditioner (but it is there if you need it). The resort itself had so many amenities to keep us busy when we weren't exploring the island. My husband went for an evening swim every night in the Lanai pool (which is RIGHT next to Jim and Mimi's building) and we had a round or two of mini golf on the putting greens. The concierge service in the main building was very helpful in booking our excursions. We did the whale watching/snorkelling tour offered by the Pacific Whale Foundation and it was my favourite day there. The resort itself doesn't have a "sandy" beach but right next door is Kaanapali Beach which my husband and I walked down for a good mile (gorgeous beach). On our 2nd last day there was even a couple of sea turtles that came right up to the sea wall and hung out at the resort for most of the day! AMAZING. Jim and Mimi were so accommodating and easy to contact. I absolutely recommend their condo for your Maui vacation, you won't regret it!! Aloha!! :)

  Wow! From the moment we walked in we were taken back by the beautiful view from the lanai. We were fortunate to get watch in marvel at whales surfacing, playing etc right from the chairs of the lanai! We even saw a huge sea turtle! You could hear us - there's another one, there's another one! Awesome! I took some very beautiful pictures of the Maui sunset and several friends said postcard/wall paper perfect! The condo was very clean and pictures and posting is dead on. It had tons of kitchenware which made it very easy to eat in and also enjoy the use of the grills for dinner on the lanai. Mimi was so pleasant to work with. Since I had never rented a condo online before I was a little apprehensive, but Mimi's constant information flow eased the fear. She is truly passionate about her place and making sure that all that stay there enjoy it as much as she does. She sent so much information on her place as well as all of the fun things to do in the area. I also got a kick out of reading and writing in the journals that she leaves for the guests to enjoy. The location of the condo was great. Not only was her condo OCEANFRONT, the resort was very quiet, well maintained and close to all of the action. The farmers' market and grocery store were only blocks away. The keyless entry concept was super convenient. The only downside is the loft doesn't have a door so that might be a problem for some not on the same sleeping schedule. We enjoyed it because we got to listen to the ocean every night. This is a little piece of heaven on earth. If you are ever considering staying in Maui, I recommend this property! From the sounds of it, many others love the Papakea resort as well. At poolside I heard many times how people have come back several times and each time choose this resort. You won't be disappointed! Thanks Jim and Mimi for letting us borrow your little piece of paradise!!

  We enjoyed our stay here very much. The view and sounds from the lanai is as good as Maui gets. The unit has everything one needs.

  Imagine yourself in paradise, relaxing on the lanai with your morning coffee. Palms are rustling in the gentle breeze. You see and hear the sounds of waves crashing 50' away. You see the first rays of the sun bringing life to the islands of Lanai and Molokai. Your day in paradise is just beginning....... These are the moments that we enjoy every time we stay at Mimi and Jim's condo! What a joy it is to wake up to this heavenly view and outstanding location. We have vacationed at the Donohue's for 8 years and have always been very pleased with their island home. It is very well appointed, clean and maintained with all the amenities you will need for a wonderful stay. There is a washer and dryer, plenty of towels and the kitchen is well stocked with with dishes and utensils.The grocery store is located across the street and is convenient for buying fresh island fish to grill on Papakea's BBQ grills. Mimi has decorated with many little homey Hawaiian touches throughout the condo that truly makes it seem like it is your own place. We have found that this condo is an exceptional value when compared to other rentals. Your pocketbook will thank you! Thanks Mimi and Jim for sharing your beautiful home with us!

  Wow, what a view! It's like being on a cruise ship and looking out at the water from the balcony. All units are only 4 stories which is unusual for the area as most places in the area are multistory hotels. This condo is on the 4th floor but there are elevators as well as stairs. The condo is in a convenient location with groceries and food nearby. The unit is well equipped and clean. The pool and jacuzzi area are clean with plenty of gas barbeques. If you want to stay on the North end of Maui, this is a great place to be and we enjoyed our stay very much. I consider it a very good value and would definitely stay here again.

  Our stay at the Papakea Resort was wonderful. The pictures were acurate. The condo was so cute and welcoming. It was super clean, the grounds as well as the unit itself. The condo had exactly what it said it had and it was just paradise! Whalers village and Lahaina were very close and we visited those almost every day! Some of our favorite restaurants were The Hula Grill, you can sit there with your toes in the sand while listening to live Hawaiian music. Captain Jacks was delicious, Leilani's was good, but my favorite was the Old Lahaina Lu'au. The food was amazing, entertainment exceptional, and the people were so warm and beautiful! The road to Hana was breathtaking! We went all the way to the Seven Sacred Pools and was one of our favorite adventures! It's something I think everyone should experience while staying on Maui. We went to Molokini on the snorkeling trip. That was a lot of fun and the crew was great, although I would recommend the snorkeling trip to Lanai (we did that one before and preferred that one more). The owner of the condo kept us informed and emailed us things to do, places to see etc. They just couldn't have been any more accomodating! Al in all, it was a dream vacation for our family. We all absolutely loved it and plan to return!

  I wanted to tell you both what a wonderful time we had in Hawaii, 3/21 thru 3/29, especially being our first time. Let me start with your condo, it was AWESOME, it was EVERYTHING we could have wanted and having a washer & dryer what a treat. It was very very clean and had plenty of room for the three of us. The view from our lanai was so WONDERFUL it was probably the best part of the trip and we did see whales jumping out of the water everyday we were there. We went to the Hyatt Regency Luau and enjoyed it allot. We had dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp and really liked our meal. We went on the Reef Dancer submarine and enjoyed it. We had lunch under the Banyan tree, one tree is like a whole park. Drove the Road to Hana, it was very scenic and beautiful waterfalls. Enjoyed a cruise and snorkel trip. The weather was a real treat, getting away from Winter in Spokane, Washington. We want to THANK YOU both very much for sharing your Hawaii home with us.

  DEAR JIM AND MIMI: I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU TWO , FOR SHARING YOUR HOME WITH US. IT IS ABSOLUTLY STUNNING. THE VIEW IS SPECTACULAR. AS I TOLD YOU OVER THE TELEPHONE, THE MISTAKE WE MADE WAS STAYING IN HONOLULU FOR A WEEK AND IN KONA FOR ONE WEEK. WE SHOULD HAVE STAYED THE 3 WEEKS IN MAUI AT YOUR ABODE. THE WEATHER WAS PERFET, WE NEVER TURNED ON THE AIR CONDITIONER. WE NEVER USED THE LOFT, BUT WE DID CHECK IT OUT/ YOUR PLACE IS BEAUTIFUL, IT LACKS NOTHING. WE LEFT IT ALMOST AS CLEAN AS IT WAS WHEN WE ARRIVED. YOUR MAID SERVICE HAD IT IN EMMACULATE CONDITION. WE HAVE NOTHING BUT COMPLIMENTS FOR YOUR MAUI HOME. FROM THE LIVING ROOM IT APPEARS THAT THE RESIDENCE IS SITTING IN THE OCEAN.. WE HAD GORGEOUS SUNSETS. THANKS AGAIN.
