Fantastic Experience! This home is beautifully decorated, quiet and has a great view of the Atlantic. It is very well equipped. We felt like we were at home. When we return to Fernandina, we will definitely stay here.

We just returned from a wonderful week at this lovely beach home. Although not directly on the beach it does boast unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean/Amelia River where we saw 2 U-boats escorting a submarine. From the door to the beach is less than 2 minutes walk across a very quiet street. The beach itself was AWESOME!!! Very quiet and private. We set up our gazebo and the closest person to us was at least 300 yards on either side of us. The home is warm, inviting and the kitchen was well stocked with every item you could possibly need. We cooked breakfast every morning and at family-home cooked meal at least 3 times during our stay. If you are looking for a nice, quiet and peaceful retreat while taking in all the enjoyments of staying at the beach, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE!!!

Just returned today from spending 4 nights at this beautiful beach cottage...Amelia Island is gorgeous! Since I am a native Floridian, lived here all my life, I KNOW a great beach escape...where you have beautiful, undisturbed, uncrowded, beaches...where neighbors may be close by but are totally respectful of your need for peace and quiet (GO to Daytona if you like the opposite!) and where there is plenty to do if you get tired of sitting and watching the beautiful tides come in and out and feel the breezes! THIS is that place!! No, it is not on the ocean side, but you can walk right over to it across a street with very little traffic. The home itself is decorated beautifully, and very tastefully. No dark, outdated rooms here. All airy and pretty. Every single thing you may need to make your trip perfect, the Modie's have thought of and provided. I adore the north beach...it reminds me of the Florida of my youth, B.D.W.....(Before Disney World!) Had a wonderful time!!

We stayed in July 2008 at this house for a week and it's a lovely home; however, that being said we were under the impression this home was right on the beach. It is not right on the beach there is a road in front of this house and the beach is on the other side. The dune is very high so the "beach view" is very LIMITED! Otherwise, great gourmet kitchen, very clean and very nice back porch that backs up to the park(very peaceful). My only thing is do be aware this is NOT a beachfront home but the beach on the other side. The beach is nice and very private.
Owner response:We do have a full unobstructed view of the Atlantic Ocean and Amelia River and we are owners of the beach directly in front of the house. The road is a dead end as well so there is very little traffic. The dune protects the property and we don't have sand blowing into the house which sits up on stilts.

My husband and I stayed in this home with our dogs to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. The home was wonderful...everything that we could've hoped for!! We had such fun with the dogs on the beach. It seemed like the perfect place for kids too. Now that we have a family, we hope to return with our daughter. We highly recommend this vacation home for families, singles, and petlovers alike! Thanks for providing such a wonderful place where people can relax and enjoy their vacation without having to leave pets (who we consider members of the family) at home!!

The Modie's were absolutely wonderful, and the house could not have been better. It was the perfect layout for our family of 6. Everything was clean, the views were awesome, and the beach was private and a lot of fun. Not a condo in sight! I've looked at other properties, and none of them could touch this one for price and value. Thanks so much guys!
