Relax and enjoy our little retreat villa in the Caribbean. Our first floor villa allows you to walk directly to the infinity edge pool or white sand beach from either the living room patio or master bedroom patio. Enjoy your morning coffee as you watch the sun rise over the Caribbean Sea. The second largest barrier reef in the world is right off our patio. Our completely remodeled villa has a large master bedroom suite with its own separate bathroom and patio/porch. The living area has a double size Murphy bed, large couch, dining table, full kitchen, full bathroom and patio/porch. These two areas are separated by a lockable door for privacy, making the space ideal for two couples or a couple with children.
Caribbean Reef Villas is remotely located giving you a quiet and peaceful sanctuary in this Mexican paradise. The quaint fishing village of Puerto Morelos is only one mile to the north and the El Cid Resort and Marina is only one mile to the south. All within walking distance to restaurants and activities.
The restaurants in Puerto Morelos offer excellent choices of cuisines from around the world with that authentic Mexican touch. A small grocery store and fresh seafood market is also available. You will find local dive shops, fishing tours, and snorkeling tours in town also. And of course, shopping at the local artisan shops. The town square is always bustling with activity. At the cab shack you can find a ride to anywhere.
Snorkeling & Scuba Diving - The Great Mayan Barrier Reef located directly in front of the complex is the second largest reef in the world. The reef is home to lobsters, turtles, groupers, barracuda, dolphin, sting rays and a host of other colorful Caribbean fish. Cenote cavern diving in crystalline fresh water is just a short drive away. All the local dive shops offer scuba diving and snorkeling packages.
Fishing - Charters can be caught at the world class El Cid Marina just down the beach or you can go into town and book a trip with the locals and enjoy Billfishing and light tackle fishing.

My husband and I were hesitant to write a review because we felt this was such a special spot that we didn't want hoardes of people swarming in and ruining the quiet feel of the condominium complex. We visited over spring break with our 16 year old daughter. Good friends and their 16 year old rented the condo 1 floor up. I have to say that the first floor setup of this condo is ideal. The pool is literally steps away from the door and the ocean just a few steps beyond. We frequented Puerto Morelos and having traveled a great deal throughout Mexico, found it one of the most charming beach towns in the country. A rental car is highly recommended. The town is close enough to walk, 15-20 minutes, but not via the beach and I don't think I would have been too comfortable walking the route after dark. Good restaurants are plentiful and the snorkeling was excellent.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: The road is dark at night. There is the El Cid Resort security guard shack along the route. The best way to travel between the town square and Caribbean Reef Villas at night is to catch a taxi from the cab shack on the town square for 20 to 30 pesos. Especially after a few margaritas at Cantina Habaneros. Seasoned Puerto Morelos visitors use the public transportation system for their travels. I have to stress seasoned veterans - to takes quite a few seasons to figure the public tranportation system out - but it works and stays on its schedules. Thank you for your thoughts and comments.

We recently returned from Puerto Morelos, Mexico where we stayed in the Caribbean Reef Villas. What a fantastic, beautiful place! Our condo was on the first level where we were able to sit on our private patio and have breakfast each morning. It was nicely decorated and had a bedroom, 2 baths, small kitchen and a Murphy bed in the living room. It was 20 feet away from the Infinity pool and 30 feet to the private beach. This property has about 18 condo's and is secluded from other resorts (no getting up at the crack of down to put your towels on chairs or fight for space in the pool). It is a short walk to the town, so a rental car is not needed. We met really great people who were staying at the condo and the locals were all very friendly as well. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway with a quaint small town, this is for you. There is a local bus that goes around town (very inexpensive) and a small grocery store for your basic needs. You can also choose from a variety of fresh fish at the Market each day and bring it back to cook at your condo. There isn't much for night life, but that was ok with us. We would highly recommend this condo (VRBO #: 188851)!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

A spacious, updated apartment in a well maintained property, we enjoyed being able to walk out from our patio to the pool. A nice sized and quiet complex, you could choose to sit by the pool or the ocean, and swim in both. It was about a 15 minute walk to "town" by beach and backroads, and we wanted to explore a bit further so had a car, but others we met who had stayed there several years did not, so it depends on what you want in your holiday. It was good to have an onsite rep. in the office, and nice to know there was a security man on duty overnight - not that we felt insecure. Jeff, the owner, was helpful and responsive to my questions. The air conditioning worked fine, though we generally just used the ceiling fans. I would recommend this property.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Very nice. Will maybe come again to same spot next time. Great pool, nice beach! Great Price. Two things to fix, In calling the office, I had a hard time getting a hold of people with questions. A/C was kind of a problem and keys need to fit the lock better. Other than that, it was supper nice!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children.
Owner response: The A/C has been taken care of. The salty air plays havoc on everything when you are literally right on the beach. This causes issue with the little things like key tumblers and bigger mechanical componets. You cannot have enough WD-40 when living on the beach. Food for thought - Sundays in Mexico are like Sundays in the states back in the 60's & 70's Blue Law days - the day for quality family time. Everything slows down on Sundays. What a nice relaxing feeling. Other than that, remember you are in Mexico and things just run at a slower pace than in the USA. Thank you for the thoughts and comments.

We have traveled all over Mexico since the late 70s and we now have a new favorite place to go, The Caribbean Reef Villas is a beautiful complex of 19 units in a great location. It is located about a mile south of Puerto Morelos a small village located about 20 minutes south of the airport. You can get there by bus, taxi or rental car. The condo has everything you need if you want to cook in, if not you are a just a mile away from Puerto Morelos which has 15 or 20 restaurants. This condo has the nicest location in the entire complex. It is located in the middle of the groung floor just 10 steps from the infinity swimming pool. The beach with 3 palapas is just beyond the pool. There is not need to worry about chair savers here because there is always plenty of room. There are two coverd patios, one off the living area and the other off of the bedroom. They were nice for relaxing with a cup of coffee in the morning and having a nightcap in the evening. The place is totally safe and secure. There are tow guarded gates to get into the unit. The best part of our stay was the peace and quiet...no banging obnoxious music, just the sound of waves washing onto the shore. Jeff, the owner, was a great guy to work with. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We've returned from our two week vacation in Puerto Morelos completely rested and already anticipating our next visit. The condo was extremely comfortable and fully stocked with everything you could need. Every morning was spent sitting poolside with a cup of coffee watching the waves and soaking up the morning sun. Being that the unit is on the first floor, we got to enjoy the convenience of popping in and out without having to climb any stairs! Loved that! The infinity pool was large and beautifully kept as were the grounds. We felt completely safe at all times and Armondo, the night security guard was extremely friendly and diligent about his rounds. No worries at all. Puerto Morelos is a small haven between Cancun and Playa that offers great food, beaches and friendly locals. We can't wait for our next visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
