Agate House is a fresh and light, 2600 square foot condominium in the only fourplex in Yachats. It is located just south of the village of Yachats, off of the Yachats Beach Access Road which is a quiet, very small road that runs along the ocean, south of the Yachats River Bridge. Crashing surf views are found from south-facing decks, the kitchen, living room, dining room and master bedroom. The only sound you hear when you open the windows is the ocean. Although the house is "one back" from the ocean, the views are unobstructed from the main living areas so it feels like ocean front. The main deck is protected from the wind, with a southern exposure and a view of the ocean where whales like to play around. Many a whale spout has been counted while having dinner or just relaxing in the living room.
The main floor has a very large open kitchen, dining, living room area with decks and a very amazing connection to the ocean. It is cozy with a great deal of light, making it feel very comfortable during both sunny day and stormy days. There is a den with a wet bar and a T.V. downstairs allowing for a separation of space should you want it.
The master bath features a whirlpool soaking tub. The master bedroom also has a private door onto the deck facing the ocean. The additional bedrooms both have bathrooms located right outside their doors. There is a laundry room, garage, and a private outdoor parking spot for the house. The queen suite has a patio door and ground level access to the lane taking you right to the ocean.
The kitchen is modern and well-equipped. You can make a pot of tea, cook with good knives, and enjoy the very modern dishes, and kitchen items. Plus, you get to watch the ocean while you do the dishes (don't worry, the dishwasher is very effective).
We call our house Agate House. When you are there you can marvel at the beautiful agates we have collected from the surrounding beaches.
During the summer, the hummingbirds collect off the deck because of the beautiful flowering shrubs next door. You do not have to move a muscle to be completely entertained at the house. Scenic wonderment abounds.
A large sandy beach and the Yachats River are only a few minutes walk away. Cape Perpetua State Park, visible to the south, has miles of hiking trails, tide pools, and panoramic views north and south - another great place for whale watching. Our personal favorite is walking into town for coffee and tea at the Green Salmon Cafe, especially if we are heading out to collect agates.
Yachats is a wonderful community to walk around in and be a part of: farmer's market, craft fairs, ocean beaches and more ocean and beaches.

Stunning Views of Crashing Surf
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Yachats
After living in Oregon for 30 years, we bought a place on what we think is the most beautiful stretch of the entire coast.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
The property sits on a finger of land that extends westward into the Pacific. The front of the building faces southwest and yet still looks directly out at the ocean. Because of this unique combination of geography and the unit's orientation, you are able to have the unusual experience of being able to sit on a completely wind-protected, south-facing deck and gaze out onto the crashing surf.
Great, safe, sandy beach where the Yachats River meets the sea. Great place for beach fires, flying kites, frisbee, and wading is a very gradually sloping surf zone.
Blow hole in the roof of a small rocky cave. During times of high surf this rock formation spouts like a whale when the surf crashes into the cave at just the right moment.
Easy agate hunting. the south cove just in front of the Inn is full of tiny agates. Bigger agates available at low tide.
Incredible views from overlooks. Camping, hiking trails, "Devil's Churn", "Cook's Chasm", Visitor center.

My sisters and I stayed at Agate house in late June, and had a wonderful stay. The house itself is very clean, bright and airy with wonderful views...especially from the living and dining rooms. Very short walk to the tide pools and just a bit further to nice sandy beach. Very quiet and relaxing. Loved sitting on the deck and reading and listening to the ocean! We drove down to Florence one day and Newport another. Had a very nice breakfast at the cafe on the corner the day we left. (Can't think of the name.) All and all a great place to stay, and hope to do it again sometime. Also the owners were great to work with!

My husband and I stayed with 2 single friends and the place was perfect - 3 bedrooms, 3 baths. Everything was spotless and certainly made living easy while we were there. The view is spectacular and the location is just right. We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed in Agate House this past June and loved it. We were two couples plus our son, and the layout was perfect. We each had our own bathrooms and the condo was clean, bright and airy with incredible views of the ocean and tidal pools. The ocean is truly just steps away, and a big beach for walking and shell-hunting is an easy walk away. We are looking forward to staying there again.
