The Mas Picholine
Authentic first class services and comfort Provencal Villa located at 15 minutes walk from the center of the delightful village of Eygalieres in the Alpilles mountains of Provence.
The Mas Picholine is located in the privileged natural and classified area of Alpilles.
The Mas was built in 2008. We are both in love for Provence, my wife is architect, everything has been designed for relaxing with modern equipments, and with specific decoration touch. The style is traditional from Provence.
This village is located 10mn from St Remy de Provence and close to Avignon city and the Baux de Provence.
The villa is set privately in its own 2000m2 garden within the estate, which is surrounded by old olive groves, hedges and scented trees and plants.
The property has 4 different terraces to allow you to perform all different activities with ids and friends.
You enter the property through a large gate giving access to 2 separate villas. This recently built and tastefully decorated villa accommodates up to 10 people. Entering the property, the villa is the second one on the back and far from neighbors.
The villa is set privately in its own garden within the estate, which is surrounded by old olive groves, hedges and scented trees and plants. It has four bedrooms, two on the ground floor, two upstairs, each with private shower rooms and lovely views of the Alpilles hills from the upstairs rooms.
The Mas offers 1st Class standards as well as for construction material than equipments. Floors, windows, chimney and stairs with stones, saloon with high ceiling with very old and visible beams, marble in bathrooms, wood floors in bedrooms.
It has four bedrooms, two on the ground floor, two upstairs, each with private shower room and lovely views on the Alpilles hills, the old village and the Mont Ventoux. The two double and two twin rooms have been individually decorated in a Provencal style and the whole house is air-conditioned.
The salon is comfortably finished and has a fireplace, a large, satellite television screen, DVD and hi-fi. The kitchen is typically French and well equipped with a large fridge/freezer, oven and hob, microwave and dishwasher and opens onto a covered terrace, where there is a barbecue, table and chairs. There is also laundry room with a washing and drying machine.
There is a swimming pool in a lovely, shady setting, which has a security alarm and lawn chairs and garden furniture scattered under the trees. Four specific terraces have been accommodated for relaxing. Outside lights softly illuminate the whole property in the evenings.
The layout is as follows :
Ground Floor :

The house distributes a large living room (51 m²) and dining area, a fully equipped eat-in-kitchen. There is 2 bedrooms on this floor.
The living room has two sets of French windows opening onto the garden and looking onto the pool. There is a fireplace, two large sofas, some armchairs, as well as a Home cinema TV, and a stereo system with CD and DVD players.
The dining area is furnished with an oval dining table seating 10.
The open kitchen is separated from the dining room by an eating counter, it is fully equipped : an oven, four electric induction hotplates, a microwave, a coffee maker, a toaster, a American fridge and a dishwasher. A windows looks onto the garden. Next to the kitchen is a laundry room with a washing and drying machine.
The two first bedrooms are on the east part of the house.
The first bedroom has a south exposed French window opening onto the garden with a marvelous view on a more than 100 years old olive grove, a double size bed with bed side tables, a chest of drawers and a built in closet. There is an en-suite stall shower bathroom with double wash stone basin and a toilet.
The second bedroom is furnished with 3 single beds, and a wardrobe. There is an en-suite bathroom with a single washbasin, a stall shower and a toilet.
First French Floor :

On the upper floor are two more bedrooms:
The first bedroom to the right is furnished with 3 single bed, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. There is an en-suite a stall shower with a washbasin, and a toilet.
The second bedroom is furnished with a double bed with bedside tables, a dresser and a built in closet. There is an en-suite stall shower with a double washbasin and a toilet.
Each bedroom on this floor has a window facing south and opening onto the garden with tremendous view on the Alpilles hills, the bathrooms have view on the old Eygalières Village and the Mont Ventoux.
Outside :

A fully equipped summer kitchen is available off the kitchen and the living room, under the large stone and shaded terrace with garden furniture.
It is equipped with a BBQ, 4 electric burners and a stone sink like many years ago.
The landscaped garden is planted with trees (olive, palm…) and lawn.
The large swimming pool (11,5Mx5 M) is surrounded by lawn.
You access the property through a private lane and stairs. At the rear of the house are enough parking spaces for several cars. There is also a garage for a car.
The villa is also at the centre of the Baux de Provence and Côteaux d'Aix vineyards and not far from Château Neuf du Pape.
The closest highway is the A7 (exit Cavaillon) 15 minutes drive away, which goes from Lyon to Marseille with connections for all major cities of the south east of France.
The closest train station is at Avignon and is served by the TGV (Train Grande Vitesse, i.e. high speed train) that goes to Paris in 2 hours and 40 minutes!
The closest airport is Avignon as well with daily flights to Paris. But most international connections are made through the international airports of Marseille-Marignane or Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

We had a wonderful stay at Mas Picholine for the week of 11-18 June, 2011. The villa was beautiful...with everything needed for a fabulous family vacation for our family of 5. Eygalieres is a beautiful village, lovely restaurants and stores....all within walking distance. A great base to explore the region. We would LOVE to come back!!!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We have stayed at this Villa twice. It is first class with a nice mixture of modern and traditional Provence. The house is very well equipped - the kitchens (inside and outdoor) are state of the art and make this a fabulous place if you think you might enjoy going to the Provencal markets and coming home to cook your purchases on the outdoor kitchen/BBQ. We did this pretty much every night! The pool area is excellent and again, very well equipped. You can also have the pool heated for an extra charge which made it very enjoyable for all the family. We visited with our two children 2 and 5 as well as grandparents. The property is about 10k from St Remy de Provence which is a truly magical place which will has so much to do and see. The local village of Eygalieres is a short drive (long walk with young kids) and again has plenty of shops, Boulangerie(s) and a Michelin star restaurant. We highly recommend this property and the owners Gilles and Isabelle Messier who are extremely helpful and proactive to ensure a smooth rental.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

The mas Picholine was everything we had excpected. The house was charming and well situated in a very calm neighborhood. Everything was decorated in good taste to the tiniest detail. We had a lovely stay and wish we could still be there!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We had a splendid holiday in your villa 19.-26.6. (2 families from Finland) We all liked the villa very much. We knew it was a good quality and elegant when making the reservation but have to say the truth was even better than we imagined! The villa was very tastefully decorated and functional. We have rented summer villas all around southern Europe more than 10 years and seen many nice villas but maybe this one was the best ever we have rented. Specially all the kitchen eqipments were in great condition and surely enough dinner stes/cuttlery. We found Eygaliers village very charming with many cafes, restaurants and small shops and it was within walking distance as well. We made shorter and longer excursions to nearby villages/towns and did some hiking and biking as well. Also the scenery is very beautiful. Big thanks for your welcome package - appreciated it warmly! Also the food we ordered from local grocery in advance worked out fine and helped us save time upon arrival evening. We can seurey reccomend this property and maybe will come back ourselves in the future!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

Dear Gilles, Thank you for the gift bag! We are having a great time at the Mas.. It is fantastic in every way! The house is magnificent. The pool and gardens are perfect. The children are having a great time and have been reasonably well behaved. We only have one issue : we wish we had reserved for a longer time! Très belle maison en provence : rate 5/5 Nous avons passé un séjour parfait dans cette maison au mois de mai 2009. La maison offre un très grand confort - elle est récente et très bien équipée (intérieur et extérieur). Bonne localisation: à quelques minutes (en vélo ou voiture) du centre d'Eygalières et au calme. Grande piscine et superbe jardin. Les propriétaires sont très sympathiques et disponibles pour répondre à toutes les questions et demandes des locataires. Gilles and Isabelle, We had a wonderful time at your home. The place was wonderful and surpassed our expectations. The town of Eygalieres was a great location at which to tour much of Provence. In addition, M. Maya was extraordinarily helpful. You are lucky to have someone like him to assist you with the house in your absence. It was a wonderful get away to welcome in the new year! Martin - UK - Sep to mid Dec 2008 I stayed at Mas Picholine for just over 3 months, from early September to mid December 2008. - Inside: The house is superb. In contrast to many other rental properties I have seen, it is built and furnished to a very high standard. - Outside: The outside is also superbly appointed, with the garden designed and built by Jardins de Glanum, who in my opinion, are the best garden designer in the area. It has an excellent large pool. - Location: Mas Picholine is situated very close to Eygalieres, an extremely pretty village. It is easy to walk from the house to the village. While the three things I have mentioned above are very important, the other important thing is the “quality” of the owner. I first rented a house in St Remy (about 4 miles away from Eygalieres) for about 9 months from September 2006 to June 2007. I rented this house from Isabelle’s brother and sister in law. The house was great. But more important than that was the superb attitude they showed to resolving any problems that occurred. It was because of this experience that I was confident to rent Mas Picholine. Again, the attitude of Gilles and Isabelle was literally perfect. For example, when I moved in, I realised that they did not initially offer a good selection of English TV channels. So I mentioned this to Gilles, and within a week, he installed the channels, and didn’t charge me extra... superb. I think that a person’s attitude when a problem occurs, illustrates more about what they are really like than when everything goes smoothly. I think that’s pretty much all I can say... great house, great garden/pool, great location, great owners! I realise that I am not “sitting on the fence”! However, if you stay there, I think your experience will be as good as mine was. Please let me know if you require any additional information. Why the Owner Chose St. Remy de Provence:
In fact, we have not bought the house, we did it. My wife is Architect, I'm Engineer, we both love Provence and we decided with the combination of our competencies to build a typical Provencal Mas.
We did it with our Heart for our future of our family and we decided to rent it for a certain period to partly absorb the costs.
We have choosen to make the construction with stones, woods from the area. Often our Customers are telling us that this Mas Picholine is 'Authentic'.
On the other side, you will get all the confort of a modern house with very high standards.
Why this area : as described in the website, you have great opportunities in this Provence area with StRemy de Provence (VanGogh, Glanum archeology, artist town...), Avignon town, Nimes arenes, Alpilles wonderfull hills, famous provencal markets, olives trees... And a nice weather a large part of the year.
