Imagine a newly remodeled 1 bedroom/1 bath within a stone's throw to the Pacific Ocean! When you enter the unit you will be taken back by the breath-taking unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. Open the patio door and immediately feel the ocean breeze from the trade winds and smell the fresh salt-water air! The next morning you will awaken to the warm glow of sunrise. You can sit on the lanai with your first cup of coffee and enjoy the boat traffic from the river right next to the building. You are also located right on the walking/bike path called Ke Ala Hele Makalae ("the path that goes by the coast") that will eventually go from Nawiliwili to Anahola. During season you will see whales breaching from your lanai. You now know what paradise feels like.
You will find your condo in the Beautiful Pono Kai Resort with 12 acres of meticulously manicured grounds in addition to koi ponds and amenities listed below. It is in the historic town of Kapaa, centrally located on the East Side of Kauai, it is convenient to all of the Garden Isle attractions, only 15 minutes from Lihue Airport and walking distance from many restaurants, grocery, and fun shops and stores.
The condo is on the 3rd floor, within steps of the elevator. Being on the top floor, it’s private, there is no over-head noise ... just the sound of the gentle sound of the ocean surf. FREE Wi-Fi interenet service is provided. It features a full size front-loading washer/dryer in the unit, which is an unusual feature on-site. Freshly remodeled with all new, kitchen cabinets, stone counter-tops, kitchen dishes/ pots & pans/utensils/ linens and more, you will not need to worry about running out and buying that essential item to cook with. This a very centrally located resort, you will arrive at your sightseeing destination within 45 minutes of car travel, excluding Waimea canyon and the west side which takes about 1 hour 15 mins. Pono Kai is a well maintained and respected resort condo complex with years of operating experience. It is located right in the heart of charming Kapaa town, with restaurants and shopping within one block. I live here year round and I also live in Kapaa. Kapaa is a real local town with very friendly residents and with more of a laid back feeling than other areas of the Island.

Beachfront on the east shore of Kauai, Pono Kai Resort is a centrally located Kauai vacation rental with easy access to the North or South shores of Kauai. Approximately 8 miles from the Lihue Airport, Pono Kai Resort is located in the town of historic Kapa'a. Situated on 13 tropical acres, this Kauai oceanfront condo is within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, boutiques and banks. Swim right on the beach front of Pono Kai Resprt or lounge pool side and enjoy the outdoor spa and sauna. Barbecue stations are located throughout the property.
North of Kapaa Beach is Kealia. This 150-foot wide, 1/2 mile long beach is popular with surfers and boogie boarders. In the summer months the surf is usually perfect and the riptide is not as fierce. However, always check on ocean conditions yourself before entering the water. The north shore of the beach once was used for inter-island steamer landings when nearby Kealia was a plantation town.. A few ruins of the dock still remain. In ancient times, Hawaiians would gather salt from this area that formed on the sand flats. Today salt is mined from the dunes adjacent to the highway. My favorite for breakfast! Get there early and order our Loco Moco, you have to try it! Also there is the best shave ice booth on the Island.

Featuring fine island cuisine and live entertainment, the Eastside is a Kauai Restaurant and bar, located in the heart of Kapaa town. Join us for cocktails, dinner and live music and find out for yourself why patrons say we're one of the best Kauai restaurants ever! The Eastside can accommodate large groups and private parties as well as take out orders. We look forward to serving you at Kauai's Eastside Restaurant soon.
It's worth hunting around for this casual second-floor restaurant, which has views of the ocean and historic downtown Kapaa. The breakfasts are huge, lunches filling, and dinners reasonably priced -- the Olympic is known for big portions and small prices. Breakfast features a range of espresso drinks, pancakes, omelets, and egg dishes. Lunch includes sandwiches, burgers, salads, and a range of wraps. Dinner includes something for everyone, from burgers to fresh fish and steaks. Stop by for a drink; they have smoothies, juice, Italian sodas, specialty teas, and a menu of specialty coffee drinks.

What a wonderful Honeymoon

This was beautiful, all redone, close parking (though this isn't too huge for us after the first big grocery shop). nearly on top of the ocean! There is a lovely walkway along the ocean that gos for miles, I ran as much as I could in the mornings. Kapaa is so central, we travelled everywhere, Susan the owner was amazing, the condo was fabulous - included laundry, shampoo/conditioner/body wash and a loofa, condiments (few, we did buy some but not what we would have spent without). BEAUTIFUL kitchen, Lanai and bathroom. Bedroom was simple but comfortable - no complaints. It was our honeymoon and it couldn't have been better, we wouldn't change a thing! Well, except the funky lock, but Susan was getting to it and we were able to play with it to make it comply :o) The complex was clean, great setting, nice place for a hot tub in the evening, not 5 star but beautiful all the same. Weber bbqs to use. Books, Kauai revealed was incredible, we did Ono restaurant for breaky ~ not super greasy, loved it!! we went to Tunnels beach (north island), anini beach, Poipu beach, Waimea Canyon, Wailea Falls, secret beach and secret lava pool. Kelly and Joel Room Tip: do this one!! Even if you have to alter your special dates, you will be pleasantly surprised, please dont do it if you are ultra picky i would hate recommend someone like that, who would find the fault in everything!

Thank you so much Susan for letting us stay in your condo. We loved the location, and it was so wonderful to sleep with the door open and listen to the ocean! We can't say enough nice things about your condo, and the new tile flor looks WONDERFUL! ;-) we didn't cook, due to the fact we ate out almost every meal at all the places you reccomended!!! thank you again and we look forward to our next visit there!...

Susan was right. It took our breath away when we opened the door and saw the ocean. We knew we chose the right place for our first visit to Kauai. The layout was well thought out, comfortable and extremely clean I wanted to take my shoes off without being reminded. What else can I say? We've stayed all over the world and this place truly is in the top 3. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Our stay was so comfortable I didn't want to leave. If you're staying on Kauai, this is the best deal.

This condo is everything you could want or need! We just got back from our honeymoon and it was fantastic. Great location and it was awesome to wake up to sunrises over the ocean from the lanai! We made a few meals in the loaded kitchen and it really felt like a home away from home. Definitely would recommend to anybody--can't beat this deal!

We were very pleased with the condo for our first trip to Kauai. I've rented many condos through VRBO and this is the best yet. It was fully equipped with all the necessities, and many extras too! My husband and I were back on the island after almost 5 years and spent 10 nights in the condo (sans our toddler)! Susan has thought of everything! The kitchen is well equipped, plenty of towels in the bathroom, there is a cooler, beach chairs and beach towels, she even has an A/V cord for iPod hook up to the stereo. The condo is well-maintained, clean and in a central location on the island. We enjoyed sitting on the comfy lanai furniture to take in the awesome oceanfront view and sound of the waves. We can't recommend this condo enough and we will not hesitate to stay again. It was like a second honeymoon!

My husband and I spent 13 wonderful days at this Pono Kai condo. The view from the lanai was spectacular, the sound of the waves relaxing, and the added entertainment of chickens wandering the resort a delight. We found the condo to be extremely clean and well-maintained and included many amenities well beyond our expectations. I loved the well designed and equipped kitchen. Also,we especially liked the close proximity to stores and the walkway where we walked for miles along the picturesque oceanside. There is no doubt that we want to go back to this wonderful place and recommend it highly. Thank you Susan for being such a wonderful hostess.

We really enjoyed our stay in the condo at Pono Kai. Susan has placed so many extras (books, movies, cooking spices, 2 TV's, beach towels and chairs, etc.) in the condo that made our visit very special. The location was great. We really enjoyed the paved walking path in front of the condo that goes for several miles. We definitely plan on staying there again when we get the chance to return to Kauai.

We are a little delinquent at writing this review, but we wanted to let everyone know what a great first experience this was for us. Susan was great to deal with...very efficient and helpful! We were here for our anniversary and had a fantastic time. Being particularly picky about places, her place was modern, very clean and provided anything that you could imagine. Her condo was in a great location to get to all parts of the island easily. We were spoiled that this condo was right on the water. We were able to come "home" to relax...watch the ocean and the people on the path below. A nice bonus to have a washer/dryer in the unit. We know who to contact next time we're in the area. What a wonderful condo!!! My husband and I just loved the location and the views were amazing. We have rented many condos in Mytrle Beach, Maui, Kona (Big Island) , Honolulu and Florida, I can truly say this is the best and the cleanest places we have stayed. We hope to get back soon and stay again a this comfortable condo (home). We found Scotty's Barbeque, which you can get to by driving, turn right out of resort or walking on the bike/walking path, the food was wonderful. The cost a little high put well with price. and it has an ocean front view, Susan is great to work with! Our GPS system seemed to be a little off and we had a problem finding the resort. We called Susan and she direct us! She laughed and so did we, oh well for GPS. Really , there isn't a problem finding the resort, we just decided to use our GPS, that must have had jet lag!
