"A single mother of four and grandma to one, 46-year-old Maria has been battling breast cancer when -- despite multiple chemotherapy threatments -- she developed brain metastasis as well. Devoted to her family, Maria worked tirelessly to make sure their days and routines were as normal as possible. Her one dream was for a special getaway full of happy moments and the opportunity to ignite her children's passion for creativity by showing them a new city and wild animals from around the world. They enjoyed several relaxing days by the ocean, thanks to Dana Horne Vacation Rentals, and fun outings to SeaWorld San Diego and San Diego Zoo. Her favorite part of the trip was watching her children enjoy themselves and getting a break from her treatment. Maria said, 'Thank you for giving us so much. It was the chance to be free from hospitals and to leave memories for my children.'" "Lions and Tigers and Bears!" The Dream Foundation Newsletter. Vol 1. From the Heart (2013): Page 10. Print. We are so glad that we could help provide a moment's solice for Maria and her family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. Thank you to the Dream Foundation for allowing us to help families find some quiet time together.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A couple weeks ago my family stayed at this extraordinary condo. We travel quite often to San Diego and have stayed in other ocean view condos, but his was "tops". We are a small family (me, husband, daughter and 80 year old mother) and the accomodations could not have been any better. We took advantage of this large codo, but really it can easily provide comfort to 10-14 folks, as advertised. The team from the rental company was great all along the way; from the booking, to the check up phone call asking if we were satisfied. My mother has a difficult time getting around, so the elevator was a plus. The view was outstanding, and the facilities were clean and well apppointed. I am a General Manager at a large hotel/casino in Las Vegas, with many years of experience in the hotel business, so I have some insights on the "guest experience. This place had it all: plenty of cooking and dining equipment, towels, soap, toilet paper, well, you name it they had it! You really just need to bring "your" things...it comes fully stocked. One of my husbands "treats" was sitting in the jacuzzi tub, reading a book, with a jetty view. We cannot wait to book this place again, as it far exceeded our expectations!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The unit was great. The deck was a fantastic spot to relax and watch the boats go in and out of the marina area. Walking distance to the beach, and to some great dive bars. The ability to close off a 4th room to use as a bedroom was a nice extra that made it easy for 4 guys to share the unit, and still have privacy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I just returned from a week at this Mission Beach Condo. Very Clean, comfortable beds, spacious for the 7 of us to spread out. Great location to both the ocean and the bay. Only a couple of things I would reccomend. Air conditioning a must!! We staying in August and opened all windows and barely got a breeze. There was a fan in the master bedroom closet that needs to be replaced as it was very loud. The second bedroom with the king bed complained of street noise at night as we are on the corner of the beach and bay access and with the windows opened was quite noisy. Parking garage was great with plenty of room which is nice. Overall we had an enjoyable stay at your condo; we just wished for the price it could have come with air conditioning. Also the elevator needs attention as well.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are glad that you enjoyed your stay in Mission Beach. We pride ourselves on our luxury vacation rentals, offering guests the glamor of a beach vacation with all the comforts of home. We are sorry that the weather was extreme during your stay. As with most Mission Beach homes, there was no air conditioning installed at the initial construction of the building, and HOA rules prohibit window and wall air conditioning units. To ensure our guests remain comfortable, we have furnished all of our bedrooms, the living room, and the dining room with state-of-the-art ceiling fans. There are also free-standing fans in the closets, and we are more than happy to provide extra fans upon request at no additional charge. We also have recently replaced the windows and sliding doors. The new windows and doors utilize high-end, duel-paned, tinted glass that helps reduce heat, glare, and noise. On that note, we are also sorry to hear that your stay was disturbed by outside noise. Generally, the jetty is a quiet area, and with the new windows, many guests who stay at this penthouse have no noise issues. However, we understand that everyone has different tolerance levels. If you are sensitive to audial disturbances, we would recommend taking personal precautions, as there is nothing we can do about the outside noise. If there is anything we can do during your stay, we encourage you to let us know. We are more than eager to make your stay a pleasant one. For those unfamiliar with Mission Beach, it is actually quite rare for a building to have an elevator. We are very lucky to have this amenity to offer to our guests, especially those with limited mobility. Although the elevator is an older model, it recently underwent a $12,000 remodel which included new door mechanisms. This allows for smoother transitions between floors and for a better user interface. Again, we are pleased that you had a delightful stay. This condo offers so many wonderful amenities and makes for a great vacation experience. We hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future, as we enjoyed working with you!

This property was easy to find and in a great location. The size of the condo was perfect for a group of 14. The bedding and seating needs were great. It is described just as listed on the website. The property was clean and well maintained. It was great having two patios to enjoy the great views. We frequenty San Diego often and our favorites include drinks at Barefoot Bar and Grill, pizza from Luigi's at the beach (they deliver to the condo!), Scripps Aquarium and Seaport Village. I would not only recommend this property to others...we would definitely stay there again ourselves!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Stayed at "The Penthouse" in Mission Beach on December 26-30, 2010. In short, we had an excellent time. The premises was exactly as advertised with a great view of the ocean and a portion of Mission Beach. The premises was very clean and provided ample room for the ten of us to kick back during our visit and to have some private space to enjoy and some 'public" areas such as the living room, kitchen and dining area. We had all the supplies we needed to make ourselves at home. The location also provided easy access to the Mission Beach area with restaurants galore a short distance away. Plus, we were only a few minutes from Old Town, Downtown, the Zoo and Balboa Park. My criteria if I like something (food and or facility) is would I do it again and I would definitely stay here again. Lastly, the staff at Dana Horne Realty was awesome making the arangements for us and working with the owner. Not only did they start us off with a gift basket, but they called during our stay to make sure we were having a good time and checking to make sure the facility was acceptable. A definite thumbs up for this rental!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
