Had yet another great experience renting this place. It was very clean upon arrival. Has all the basic amenities and kitchen supplies to get you thru a good vacation. Views are excellent and a very quiet location. Property owner is easy to work with. Great location for anything outdoors, hiking, biking, quiet country walks. Our third time here. A great place.

We just returned from a weekend away at this adorable chalet. The owner was responsive throughout the whole process and was very easy to work with. The location is great and is just 10 minutes to Cannon. It was easy to find and the directions provided by the owner were perfect even at the late hour we arrived on Friday night. The house was exactly as described in the listing and was immaculate upon arrival. The house is spacious, very comfortable, and decorated nicely. It was lovely to light a fire and relax after a cold and windy day of skiing. We took his recommendation and ate at Bailiwicks in Littleton (about 15 mins away) and highly recommend that to future renters. We would absolutely recommend this house to anyone and look forward to renting it again!

Ideal Winter Vacation

The chalet is clean, well maintained, well appointed and inviting. The dining room and master bedroom windows offer stunning views of Cannon Mountain and Mt. Layfayette. As the snow was deep, snowshoeing from the back door and on nearby trails with the dogs was ideal. We skied Cannon (close) and Waterville (35 minutes), both offering excellent alpine skiing. The landlord is responsive and accommodating. I'd definitely recommend this property to a friend and my wife and I would happily return should circumstances permit.

First, let me say that this owner was very responsive to advance questions and concerns, and generally very good to deal with. The location of the property is very convenient to the attractions near Franconia, including the small village area, Cannon Mountain, and cross country skiing at the Franconia Inn. It's in a quiet neighborhood, and located only 5 minutes from the highway. We experienced a temporary water outage that was equipment-related. The owner wasn't immediately available and the emergency plumber contact never returned our call. The owner did reach us later and provided a timely solution. It did create some stress for one evening. The view from the house is spectacular if you enjoy mountain scenery. However, the interior of the propery, is lower quality than many VRBO's we have rented. The appliances are rather dated and the supply of dishes inadequate in supply. The cooking pans, kitchen knives, and cabinets were of poor quality. The decor and furnishings are an odd mix of styles and the floor downstairs is vinyl faux hardwood throughout. It has a great fireplace insert that makes the living room cozy. The two larger bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds and offer very nice window views. The two bathrooms are very basic and dated, and one shower worked much better than the other. Satellite TV worked fine, though no flat screen. The owner's pet policy is a plus.

Owner response:We're sorry you were disappointed on so many points and I appreciate the opportunity to respond and clarify. The plumbing equipment malfunction was unfortunate and we were very relieved the fix was relatively quick and easy. It can be very difficult to get a plumber to respond after 9pm on a Friday night, especially to a non-emergency call. I'll be taking a trip up to the house before our next guests arrive to check on the supply of dishes, etc. It sounds like a few may have been broken along the way as we maintain place settings for eight. We've tried to accurately depict the style and condition of our home through our detailed description and the photos. The flooring was installed in the summer of 2007 and is laminate wood planks, not vinyl. Laminate floors are known as "floating floors" because they sit on a pad and aren't secured to the subfloor the way traditional flooring is. It can take some getting used to. As for the style of our decor and furniture, it's probably best described as mid-century modern with some modern rustic mixed in. Much of it is new since 2007 and we've tried to create a look and feel that's different than the typical suburban home - something fun, unique and somewhat retro. I'm not sure it's fair to call the kitchen cabinets of poor quality as they were handmade by the original owner and we thought the simple, sturdy and handsome design was worth saving, especially in a mountain chalet. None of the three TVs are flat panel widescreens, although they all have flat screens. Again, we're sorry you were disappointed and thank you for bringing to our attention the lack of some dishes and your concerns.

We rented the chalet from Feb 4-7 for a ski vacation. We got a foot of snow on Sat night but the streets were well-plowed very quickly as was the driveway. The chalet is very clean, spacious, well decorated, cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed having fires in the fireplace's wood stove insert; plenty of firewood was provided. There are fantastic views of Cannon Mtn and Franconia Notch from the yard, deck and almost every room. The street is very quiet with nice neighbors (not too close); you can see many stars at night--very little 'light pollution' here. The location is very close to Cannon Mtn for downhill skiing (about 10 min and you can take the back roads) and only about 1.5 miles to cross country skiing, ice skating, sleigh rides, a pub and restaurant at The Franconia Inn. The kitchen is well-equipped and opens into the living room/dining room. With the big snow storm, we cooked meals there and enjoyed the view and ambiance of the chalet. There is a grocery store, Mac's,very close by. We will definitely be back to enjoy this beautiful area and exceptional rental.

Franconia Chalet in winter

Our family of four spent one week in this chalet for skiing at Cannon. The chalet is 10 min away from Cannon (take the Wells road from the 116). We had a snow storm (2 feet) but our driveway and all the roads were cleaned quite fast. Despite the lack of some wine glases, overal the chalet is clean, confortable with plenty of space (kids love it). The beds are as confortable as home so you get a good night of sleep after a day of ski. You can take a nice walk in the evening, the wood smels good and the neighbors are kind yet remote. The chalet is as described with no bad surprises. The view toward Cannon and Lafayette is magnificent especially at the sunset. Thank you Chris.

Our friends and family stayed here for a weekend ski trip. The house was very cozy and the view was amazing! We did cross country skiing and enjoyed the local ski trails at the nearby inn. The owner, Chris, was very accommodating and we would definitely recommend this house to others as well as come again ourselves.

We just had an excellent weekend staying at this property and skiing Cannon. The location makes it easy to get to Cannon in the mornings and the views of Cannon and Mt. Lafayette are breathtaking. This will be my top choice for lodging when returning to the Cannon area for either winter or summer.

We stayed in this home over 2010 MLK weekend. The house had everything we needed: comfortable beds, towels, kitchen utensils, and proximity to Cannon mountain (may be 10 min drive). The place is well decorated and u get a distinct feeling that people who rent use it often themselves and its not just a rental property. The view is fantastic. Communication note: Verizon Cell Phones work, AT&T doesn't. Overall great experience.

while the weather did not cooperate, preventing us from enjoying the excellent views from this location, our stay was very enjoyable. the house was comfortable, with a fantastic wood stove and easily accessible wood off the large deck. the beds were very comfortable; the linens were in abundance and high quality; the kitchen had everything you would need and the house was well-cleaned upon arrival. finally, the logistics were very smooth and professional, as the owner accepted paypal and provided detailed instructions about the house and the local area.

My husband and I stayed at this property but there is room for many more. The home is well maintained and cozy. The views are beautiful and the home is very quiet and private. This comfortable home easily accommodated two families of four and a small dog. There was room enough in the yard for a small baseball diamond, and we even saw a visiting black bear at home plate one morning! Chris was accessible and attentive to our needs, and the house was well appointed. The views are absolutely unrivaled, and we enjoyed hiking, fishing, and boating in the Whites. We would definitely come again!

This attractive home was a perfect location for our family vacation. The home comfortably accomadated 3 couples, 2 children & 2 dogs. When it comes to vacation, I believe it is the company that makes it memorable. Though that was the case, we were all completely at ease because of the atmosphere. The decor is perfectly appointed... simple, clean and new. We often rent homes for our vacations and the theme is usually " leftover, used furniture", which isn't the case here. For me, that is a great feeling. The bathrooms are clean and the entire house is uncluttered, just the way a vacation should be. We are so happy that we found the Franconia Chalet!

We have rented spaces like this before. This one was definitely the cleanest. Well maintained. Description of property was right on. Owner was very responsive via email, even when I asked the same questions over. Would recommend this property for anyone staying in the Fanconia area. We plan to stay here again next year. Plenty of great hiking for all levels very close by.

We had a great time. Your home is far, far nicer than the typical vacation rental. Cooking out on the deck with the great views was a highlight (one evening a moose crossed the back clearing). The open floor plan was perfect for our family and the bed and bath rooms are spacious. Thanks!

A quiet home away from home

This property is located perfectly facing Mt. Cannon. The views from every window are spectacular. The rooms are large and sleeping quarters comfortable. You can easily have a family reunion here and be comfortable. Sleeps 8 easily. The kitchen is well stocked and you need to bring nothing. The linens and sheets are comfortable. The atmosphere is very quiet. I visited 6 months ago and the memories still linger on. This is an all season house and I would recommend it for skiers as well as leaf peepers! The owner is thoughtful and non intrusive. I will be revisiting this house again soon.
