Two families - 9 people stayed here for a week in April for spring break. Really wonderful house with plenty of room for our gang and then some. Getting to and from the slopes is a short drive if you are willing to pay $25/day to park.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

The place was clean, large and exactly as I would have expected it. There was some laundry that the cleaning people had forgetten about in the washer and dryer and some light bulbs that needed to be changed. But that wasn't something that was going to affect the overall review. One of the twin beds in the second bunk room collapsed on someone when they got back in from the bathroom in the middle of the night but it just turned out to be funny as nothing really bad happened. The owner of the place did give us all of the information for their maint. guy but we chose to not call and not worry about it The mud room by the door and large entry way was perfect to put our wet shoes and ski boots without compromising the floors in the rest of the house. The living room was comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. The bedrooms were well set up for a large group or couples that have single friends. The downstairs Den can also be a 6th room for someone that doesn't mind sleeping on a giant couch. We had 12 people in the place and never once felt like we got in each other's way. Plenty of bathrooms!! My first impression of the place stays the same as my ending impression. Great place, close to the slopes driving and really close to the liquor store, gorcery store and Sports Authority. We will be back next time we go to Vail. Next time we may even bring the wives!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We loved this home and our vacation! This is a beautiful and very comfortable and cozy home. The beds were super comfortable and I loved that each bedroom had a fan! Best I've slept in a long time! There was a great hiking trail right out back and it was just a few minutes from Lionshead and Vail village. The recommendations from the owner on great things to do and great places to eat were exactly that - GREAT! I hope to get to stay here again in the future!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Summer in Vail was one of the best experiences that my family has had and the Crawford home was the icing on the cake. The accessibility to all the wonderful activities from a short hike along the river to shopping was definitely a plus! With all the windows open, the sound of the aspen leaves surrounded us in every room of the house. The wide variety of types of rooms was nice. Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom with heating for the cool mornings and fans for the ones who had hot flashes. The media room, living room and two decks to choose from guaranteed every member of our group to have privacy and to enjoy family fun activities. The kitchen was well stocked and we all had plenty of dining ware, glass ware and silver ware. Every bathroom has been updated and very clean with plenty of towels. Each space of the house was elegantly decorated and comfortable. My elementary aged children had a blast playing in and around the house while the adults were not constantly worrying about something breaking. Definitely family friendly! The hot tub was clean and was surrounded by aspen. All in all, the home was secluded that we felt we were only one on the mountain and yet, close to town. I can only imagine how beautiful the surroundings would be in the fall and winter. My family and I will be sure to make plans to return to this wonderful home.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

We had rented this property for my family as we were attending our daughters wedding. The beds were comfortable, but the 4th bedroom was really small and the the other bedroom had one mattress on the floor. It was easy to locate and plenty big for our party of 10. Since Vail doesn't get warm very often there is no air conditioning. It was really warm while we were there and only 1 fan. We did have to keep all doors open including the front door for a breeze. There are beautiful windows in the living room, but they don't open and the sun loves them. We would like to return to this house during the winter. It is a short drive to Vail sking. Thanks for sharing your houseRecommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children.

We stayed in this home this January for a college-reunion trip and had a great time! The home was perfect for our group - lots of room to spread out. Loved the wood-burning fireplace, grill and deck! We also really loved that there was very little (if any) highway noise at the home (a huge problem with 2 other homes I've rented in Vail). We will all definitely be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

I rented this lovely home in April 2009 and had an excellent stay. The layout was great for relaxing, dining, and just hanging out, and the views of the Valley from the hot tub were great. The house had all the amenities of home and everything you could think of in the kitchen. The media room was perfect for watching movies, listening to music, or just hanging out away from the main living room area. Highly recommended; we will definitely return!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a lovely home! We stayed this summer with our children and grandchildren and it was just perfect! We loved hiking up the trail behind the house and did that often. The BBQ deck was great for cooking and meals and the view spectacular. We loved the split bedrooms giving everyone lots of space and quiet. We stayed in Vail before and highway noises were a problem. Here it definitely was not. We loved the neighborhood location - a short bike ride to lovely Donovan Park and Vail Village. We will definitely return!Did you find this review helpful? I went to Vail on a girls weekend and did not know what to expect of the house. I was pleasantly surprised! There was plenty of room for 10 ladies. The location of the house was very convenient - within minuets driving to Vail Village. Great house with lots of space.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: Our family lived in Vail from 2004-2005 while my husband did a sports fellowship with the Steadman Hawkins clinic. At the end of the year, Vail was in all of our blood and we knew we couldn't say goodbye for good. We loved the home we lived in for the year - warm, spacious, removed from highway noise, on a quiet cul-de-sac backing up to national forest which was awesome for hikes in the summer and fall, and just 2 miles from Vail village. Fortunately, the owners agreed to sell the house to us! We now live in Texas but love getting back to Vail every chance we get - regardless of season!
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
Vail is the most amazing ski mountain in all of north america. We chose this house in particular because it backs up to national forest (great for hiking and snow shoeing), is close to a great park, and is high enough up the mountain that the noise and sight of I70 are not factors.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
wonderful mountain views, hiking path right out back door, quiet cul-de-sac (no highway noise), roomy, two separate masters, media room, nice porch for outdoor dining and grilling, wood-burning fireplace, well-stocked kitchen, private hot tub, two miles from Vail village.
