This was our third visit to the Hale'Iwa Surf. Each visit was in three different units. Janet's unit was, by far, the best. The unit was so clean, and maintained very nicely. There were many paintings on the walls that were done by an individual (I believe one was Janet's daughter). They are all so pretty. There were so many amenities in the condo that it felt like home. Janet provides high quality sheets and towels, which was amazing. Being able to open the sliding door and walk out to the beach was awesome. The beach is not crowded, and it's one of Hale'Iwa's best kept secret. We enjoyed many beautiful sunsets. This trip was so special because we were able to spend some quality time with our son who now lives in Honolulu. Janet was so friendly and very helpful. We really appreciated her hospitality. We won't stay anywhere else the next time we visit! Aloha. A hui hou.

Absolutely Perfect

This vacation property was everything we expected and more. The location is absolutely perfect. The condo was clean and well furnished with FABULOUS sheets! This was our second time at staying 11 steps from the beach on the Northshore. It is the best place in the complex although it is just a one-bedroom and needs a little TLC. We love that the turtles still swim around in front during the day and rest at night down the beach. The unit has everything you could possibly need and offers a relaxation and peaceful atmosphere in paradise. Our favourite island is Oahu and our favourite spot is this unit.

What a FANSTASTIC place!

We just returned from our vacation at this wonderful property and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it. First, the property itself on the inside was clean and had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Especially for our kids ages 4 and 5! There were boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, and tons of sand toys, it was perfect for them. AND then there is the outside, WOW! It truly is 11 steps to the ocean, and it is a beautiful beach. The sand is soft and the water is so blue. There is also a beautiful stretch of beach for daily walks. In addition to the beach, the outdoor picnic area was wonderful. Also, the town of Haleiwa is adorable. Lots of good restaurants, cute little stores and a grocery store and drugstore. Everything is a 1 mile walk, or a couple minute drive. Lastly, Janet was so hospitable and would check in on us every now and then to ensure that we had everything we needed. It was a truly memorable vacation, and we cannot wait to return someday!

PERFECT VACATION SPOT

Had such a wonderful time. Great spot to relax and we were able to swim with the turtles. We rented a motorcycle and rode around the island. I proposed to my girlfriend right on the beach and Janet even arranged to have it taped for us so this will be a memorable vacation. Our recent holiday at "11 Step Getaway" was simply magical. The moment we stepped through the front door we were greeted by the sound of waves, a breeze coming from the beach and the sight of the ocean, sunshine and palm trees. It was soothing and beautiful! The condo itself was everything we wanted and more. The location was superb and we lacked nothing! Snorkelling gear was provided, as well as boogie boards, towels, beach chairs...even a blender to make pina coladas each night. Janet is the ultimate hostess as well, setting out a fresh pineapple to enjoy on our arrival along with chocolates and stopping in to check on us throughout the holiday. She and Todd (the building manager) also provided a wealth of information on the island and area. The other residents in the condo were superb and one night we were even treated to the sounds of someone playing guitar and singing in the common barbecue area; it was like a private concert on the beach. Besides swimming with turtles, watching them sleep on the beach, hiking to see monk seals and experiencing a real HIC Pro surfing competiton at Sunset Beach, we also relaxed, went to farmers markets, shopped in town and got amazing suntans on our "private" beach. (Always a plus when coming back to Alberta in below freezing temperatures...we like to rub it in to others! ha ha) While the north shore was wonderful, this condo made our holiday perfect. I will miss Todd's stories and photo tips, the little black cat that visted the odd day and the wonderful amenities available to us. I think hotels and resorts have been ruined for me after staying here! Thank you Janet for everything! It was wonderful meeting you and we hope to be back soon.

quiet ocean paradise on Oahu's North Shore!

This condo on Oahu's North Shore is a gem! After much research we decided to stay here and were so happy that we did! The description in the listing didn't do the place justice! We were amazed at how close we were to the beach, a grassy lawn under big trees between our lanai and the lovely beach. Janet was so accomodating and visited us to be sure everything was ok. She was able to provide a pack n play and high chair for our 7 month old. It was so convenient to run into the sandy calm bay (in Sepember) and then back into our condo to dry off! The onsite manager Todd lives next door and keeps the grounds immaculate. Everyone was very friendly, and after dark things were nice and quiet, which was perfect for us with a baby. The kitchen is stocked with all the basic dishes and cooking supplies, and spices. The town of Haliewa is only a mile away. I thought we would walk but we usually drove into town and then walked around the shops and restaurants. There are no other hotels except Turtle bay resort on the North Shore, which is nice. We had a very relaxing vacation, didn't feel the need to do alot of day trips, our place was so peaceful. And the sunsets from our lanai were awesome! Looking forward to coming back when our baby is a toddler!!

What a sight

We had one night in this condo because they had someone checking In the following day. I wish we could have stayed longer. It was so close to the beach very well kept and restful. I could sit in the living room and watch the waves. Waking up to the sound of the ocean was really nice. I Plan to visit again and stay longer.

Beautiful Beach

We had a great timne at the condo in August 2011. I was worried at first with no AC and there were a few times during the heat of the afternoon, that I wished we had it, but overall the sea breeze keeps the condo cool. The condo is nicely furnished and the futon sleeps great and is very comfortable. The kitchen is nicely furnished. We saw turtles almost every day. The beach is perfect for children. we had a wonderful stay.

What a nice way to spend the last few days of our honeymoon. Sleeping to the sounds of the waves. Our family had a wonderfull time on vacation .Everything was just as described. We were please we chose a ground floor,Janet was very helpful when we had questions and was always avaible for us day or nite. The condo was very neat and clean. We enjoyed sleeping on the futon in the living room as we could hear the ocean and felt the cool breeze. It was also stocked very well, it had a coffe maker, ricecooker, blender, etc. It was very clean and everything was in great condition. We would definitley recommend this to anyone vacationing here, and will be telling all my friends and family about the condo and the treatment we received . Great Family Vacation

Our family had a great vacation at 11 steps. The condo was as close as it appeared to be to the ocean. It was wonderful having a ground floor unit to just run back and forth from the the beach. We have small children and they loved all the beach toys on the back porch. We enjoyed sunsets in the BBQ area and getting to know the other guests in the building.

My husband, my baby, two good friends, and I stayed here for Memorial Day weekend and it was splendid! From my morning cup of coffee on the beach front lanai to being able to enjoy the soothing sounds of the waves at night to snorkeling, sun bathing, and chocolates on the pillow we all had a wonderful time! Bliss on the edge of the Ocean

Everything was as described. The beach and ocean are just a few steps from the patio - we're pleased we chose a ground floor condo. Janet (the owner lives locally) & was very helpful in her emails and also popped in to see us. It's an easy walk into Haleiwa, although we took the car to the supermarket to carry the essential wine and beer back. We never used any of the restaurants in town What was the point of eating in a restaurant at the side of the road when we could sit on our own patio and enjoy dinner with a glass of wine and listen to the ocean? On our first day there was a monk seal relaxing along the beach and on our last day a turtle was swimming a few yards away. We enjoyed the famous sunsets and saw the whales swimming by. bre We drove the length of North Shore & down the windward coast to Diamond Head & decided we'd made the right choice in staying in Haleiwa.We had earlier stayed in Waikiki (which we enjoyed very much) but we wanted a contrast & some quiet time. We would recommend this condo to a couple of any age and who maybe have children.

My family spent a wonderful 10 days in Hawaii. The apartment was everything I expected with a location that could not be beat. We enjoyed turtles on the beach and the Reef Hawaiian Pro just a five minute walk away. The children loved having sand toys. I loved having an umbrella, beach towels and snorkel equipment at our disposal. The neighbors were very friendly. We did not realize there was a laundry room on site and so this was a great plus. Thank you for sharing your beautiful island.

We absolutely loved our stay! It was the perfect accomodations for us. We have two young girls, and being on the ground floor on the beach absolutely made our experience wonderful! We could walk right to the sand, and then come back and forth every time the girls needed a drink, the bathroom, a snack or a rest, and then head right back out. I especially appreciated all the beach towels and sand toys. There was also snorkel gear and a boogie board and two binoculars. There were plenty of bath towels and wash cloths and linens for our 7-day stay. It was great having washers and driers on the property when we needed it, and there was even some laundry detergent in our closet. Janet came by on our second day there to make sure everything was okay, and her husband came over to help us figure out how to work the futon. Very easy once he showed us! They are a very nice and welcoming couple. It was also great to have the resident manager right next door to us. He was very helpful and friendly and funny! And he keeps the grounds immaculate. The city of Haleiwa was fabulous beyond our expectations! An easy drive to the Dole Plantation and also to the Polynesian Cultural Center. There were lots of places to eat, including a McDonald's (essential when you have two young girls!), lots of shops, and the grocery story was right on the main strip. I couldn't ever imagine staying anywhere else when we travel to Oahu. This will now be our regular "hang-out" when we return to Oahu.

Just what it said on the tin

We stayed here in October 2009, and had a wonderful time. The view really is just like the picture, and is much prettier than many places where you have a road between you and the sea. It is also nice to have some grass to sit on if you get tired of sand going everywhere! I was worried about the waves as we are swimmers rather than surfers, but the bit of ocean outside the apartment is quite sheltered, so it is great for swimming. They have lots of equipment (like snorkels) so you can just grab what you need and go in search of fish. I'd love to go back, I thought it was wonderful. Mel

This was the first stop (1/18/09-1/23/09) on our nineteen day three island honeymoon and it was perfect. The location is perfect as you really are 11 steps, ok maybe 11 paces from a quiet private beach. It is a very quiet location! We found that it was great for getting around the entire island, driving wise. The neighbors are very nice and extremely helpful. The place is fully stocked with not only cooking utensils but more importantly lots and lots of spices. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to stay on Oahu.

One of our best vacations ever

We stayed here in Oct. 2008 with our two small children and I've been meaning to write a review since because we really loved our stay here. Of all the units in this complex, this is one of the best because this building is closest to the ocean (11 steps is right) and you can step right out onto the sand. We called it "our private beach" because it was quiet and we could come and go from the condo to the beach easily. Beautiful sunsets, great sealife watching, close to restaurants and shops, just a great place to spend your North Shore vacation.

The condo was clean and well kept. It had everything we needed--including beach towels, beach toys, boogie boards, and snorkel gear. The beach was perfect for the kids, with nice sand, gentle waves, (early October), and a little reef area for snorkeling. It's also right next to a big park, less than a mile from most of the Haleiwa restaurants and shops, and a short drive from other attractions like Turtle Beach, Waimea Bay, and Sharks Cove.

We have just returned from a lovely and relaxing 4 days at Janet's Haleiwa condo and wish we could have stayed longer. Everything was as it should be, with nice surprises along the way. The ground floor location right on the quiet beach was perfect for us with our one year old daughter. A cot was even sourced on our request and ready waiting for us. We'll certainly be recommending this condo to our friends in Vancouver and Sydney if they are lucky enough to holiday on the beautiful North Shore of Oahu.

WOW! We had such a wonderful and relaxing time at the condo. We loved that we were welcomed with a gift as we arrived. The condo was lovely, clean and comfortable with a breath taking view without leaving the living room. We enjoyed dinning on the outside Lanai as the sun would set on the beautiful blue ocean. It was a wonderful sight to see green sea turtles swimming in the clear blue waters. we would recommend this condo to our friends and family that will be vacationing in Hawaii.
