The condo itself as well as the property were fantastic! The pool was literally just steps from our back door and the beach only a few yards beyond that. Everyone from the Villas and Hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful. The town itself was not only charming, but had every convenience and service we could need, without the massive crowds or commercialism of Los Cabos. Everything was within walking distance and the locals were not only friendly, but incredibly tolerant of my broken Spanish. As recommended, we enjoyed the best meal of our trip at the Hotel Calafia and I can't recommend it enough; the Mole enchiladas are not to be missed. (Don't be discouraged if there isn't a crowd; according to my conversation with the owner, bad press about the dangers of mainland Mexico have affected Baja as well, despite being incredibly safe.) The little taco stand just a few doors past the Supermarcado was also great. It seemed to only be open at night, but was perfect for an evening snack after happy hour. The fish tacos brought back fond memories of my trips down the Baja with my family as a kid. My recommendation to anyone visiting with a car is to take a trip to Cabo Pulmo, a National Marine Preserve, about an hour drive from Los Barriles. The water was fantastic as was the snorkeling. The beach has some of the finest sand I've seen and the crowds were nonexistent when we were there; usually just 3 or 4 local families enjoying the sun. I cannot recommend the condo or Los Barilles highly enough, and am already planning a longer return trip for next spring! Robin-Thank you again for all your help and for sharing your little slice of paradise.
Owner response:So glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to Los Barriles and our villa. We appreciate the wonderful review and look forward to having you back as a guest again in the near future!

Simply to say - it is the best place in town to stay for your next vacation!!! That is if: 1. you like a place just like your own home with all the amenities by your side: fully equipped kitchen with EVERYTHING in it, Sat TV with over 200 ch, FI-WI Internet, best bedroom with KING SIZE, huge bath tab, nice furniture - you name it... 2. you like to be 10 steps away from the pristine beach (read it literally - 10 short steps and you are on the beach)... 3. you like quiet escapes with wild nature around, luxurious accommodations by your side and many great activities: watersports, fishing, diving, biking etc. Moreover, it is the best unit in a complex - first floor unit with easy access to the gate to the beach, right next to the pool and all the necessary amenities you need inside... No car needed - you are right in the heart of town! We know the owners - Robin and Kurt are the greatest hosts and they will do everything possible to make you feel "comfy". We have been coming here for years - we simply can't find a better place to stay!

Just to start off, how awesome to be sitting on a cozy couch (which frankly we settled right into as if it was our own at home....so nice). And watch the palm trees in the fading sunlight, seeing the the gorgeous colorful flowers outside our door gently blowing, with our sundresses and shorts on watching Charlie Browns Christmas with our 4 year old. Oh, did I mention eating tuna sashimi for dinner that we caught while taking a day trip off the front dock on the Mahitini. Can't beat that as far as I am concerned. The amenities were plenty, juicers, coffee, pots, pans, blow dryers and on and on to the magnifying mirror (probably should not have looked .). What a great time. The Staff was and is so gracious, they made us feel so welcome and The Chefs prepare fish and make some mean sashimi and ceviche. Knowing you get to walk a few steps back home to your welcoming condo is the cherry on top of the cake.

This condo is the best place to stay in Los Barriles, walking distance to everything, no need to rent a car. This unit has everything a person could possibly need or want, and is very beautiful, spacious & clean exactely as described. The beautiful sunrise comes up right on the patio, what a better way to enjoy your morning coffee. The ocean was warm and pleasant and we enjoyed snorkeling right in front of the condo. We are so happy we chose this particular unit for our honeymoon getaway. I would definetely recommend this to my family and friends as the best place to stay & the owner is so easy to work with. I would recommend eating at Tio Pablos we had the best meals there. If you like adventure check out the Quad Man next door to Charlies Chocolates we rented a Rhino and went to the water falls & also took the dirt road to Punta Pescadero for a day of sunning on the most beautiful beach and the best snorkeling around. Thank You Robin for a perfect honeymoon getaway we will definetely be contacting you in the future for a return trip.

I want to start out by saying sorry Robin for the late review. This does not in any way reflect how our stay was (Fantastic Trip!). This is not a condo but a home in paradise and is the best place to stay in Los Barriles. We walked to everything including the stores and restaurants in town. Local stores have anything you need for your stay. We used Ulysses Taxi service to and from the Airport. He has no problem stopping at Costco and wait for you to get your grub for the week. This Home has everything a person could possibly need or want, and is very beautiful, spacious & clean exactly as described. I Love to cook and found everything I needed in the kitchen (ultra modern) and the Big Gas Bar B Q out side at the Pool. At times during the week we were the only ones at the Pool and the service from the Bar never lacked. The beautiful sunrise comes up right on the patio and Coffee could not taste better. The ocean was warm and pleasant and we enjoyed the Pools at the Villas and next door at the Palmas. I would definitely recommend this to my family and friends as the best place to stay & the owner is so easy to work with. We would eat at Tio Pablos or the Smoke house. (Great Fish and chips, plus coldest Pacifico's in LB.) We had the best meals there. If you like adventure check out the Quad Man next door to Charlie’s Chocolates. Hotel Los Barriles had the Best Panga Fleet for fishing. Thank You Robin for a perfect getaway we will definitely be contacting you in the future for a return trip.

Our stay in your condo was great. It's very plush with a beautiful bathroom and great kitchen. Unfortunately we were there towards the end of September and it was too hot to enjoy hanging out outside during the day. The pool area is great and the bar staff very friendly. We'll come back again when it's not so darn hot!

We had a fantastic time (Jan 22-26, 2010). It was very windy, but very beautiful. The condo is fantastic - spacious, equipped with all conveniences. Loved being on the lower level, so could walk right out the the BBQ, to the pool and beach. We rented ATV's one day - I definately recommend it - great way to see the area. We cooked in most nights, but did eat dinner once at Salamon's Landing and it was fantastic and reasonable. We were one of two condos rented during that time, so we had the place to ourselves. It was fun to hang out at the pool and watch the windsurfers and kite boarders. If you reserve this condo, you will not be disappointed. It was such a wonderful, relaxing getaway. Go for it! Life is too short not to visit Los Barriles!

This is PARADISE! We had one of the best time in our life at this wonderful place. It would be the perfekt place for a honeymoon, but also for everybody who like's to relax and enjoy. It makes you belive you're in heaven. The villa is spacious, very clean, the kitchen has everything you need to enjoy cooking. Just: Perfekt! We did'nt go fishing (we prefer snorceling and swimming), but this must be realy a great place for fishing. Everyday we saw them coming back with lot's of Tuna and Dorado. Thank you Robin for everything, you're such a great person!

This was an amazing condo. The photos just don't do it justice. It has everything you need and then some. The beach is literally right outside your back door - just beyond the beautiful pools. Location wise, it's perfect for getting around the southern Baja. We went to the best snorkeling beaches, the best surfing beaches and the best restaurants without taking up much time. Also - don't be afraid of the water...we drank the mixed drinks without problem. When having just water we just asked that it was purified...because we learned that they are on well water and don't have the same water problems Cabo has. If you go - you will have a blast...oh, one more thing...the sea kayaks outside the hotel appear to be free to use!

It was a real vacation! We just returned from a delightful week and found the elegant condo beautifully furnished with everything we could possibly need. The sliding glass doors directly onto the patio leading to the pools and the ocean just beyond were the best feature. The little town of Los Barriles offered so many fun little places to eat with great food and even better prices. Fresh fish was abundant. We loved the condo, the town, the weather, the beach - I'm recommending it to everyone I know.

Thanks Robin & Kurt for providing such a pleasant environment. What can I say? This place is sweet!!It was really nice having the Hotel Palmas de Cortez next door. Full resort services or no resort services your choice. The Villa de Cortez’s clubhouse separates the two, keeping the atmosphere quite and serene. Walk around the clubhouse and things get a little bit livelier.Upon arrival at the airport it was suggested by a fellow traveler that we shop at the “Mega” in San Jose del Cabo for supplies. Two shopping carts full of fruits, veggies, spices, meats, wine, beer, and a kilo of large prawns later we arrived at the checkout counter, my partner sweating profusely as the clerk rang up the goods. How much? In dollars, por favor? …. $221.00 u.s. My partner gladly offers the money. Who could not like cooking meals with such great views and weather? I totally hated BBQing while sipping wine and watching the moon rise. What was worse was making the tough decision in the mornings… Fishing, pitch and putt golf, go for a swim in the sea, the pool, which pool ? Infinity edge or regular? Think I’ll make a Bloody Mary. That refrigerator makes such nice ice cubes!

We were so pleased with our choice of Los Barilles, especially with this apartment because of its great location, central to everything in the village such as supermarkets, restaurants and ATV hire. It is especially great to be on the ground floor with direct access to the pool and beach. Kiteboarding directly in front of the apartment was fantastic! We would all love to go back again sometime!
