My wife and I decided to get away from the city for a few days. We found this listing and were unsure about what we would find once we arrived. Like a lot of people, we've had past experiences ordering things online that turned out to be nothing like what we were expecting and were completely unsatisfied. This Big Sur Dream Home was also like nothing we were expecting, it was soooo much better! The owner (Mary) was great. She added a nice touch to the place so that it had a very homie/cozy feeling. The house & fancy yurt were like nothing I've ever experienced. The architecture of the loft was great and it had a 360 degree view with absolute silence (just what we needed). It was so private we were able to skinny dip in the hot tub without a care in the world. At dusk we enjoyed the beautiful outdoor fireplace. This place is well worth the price. This place will definitely be a future vacation spot for us. Thanks Mary!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and enjoyed every minute. The owner was wonderful - warm and welcoming. The property is in a great location about fifteen/twenty minutes north of the town of Big Sur but those fifteen minutes are driving along classic stretches of Highway 1. The place has a great hot tub, an indoor and outdoor fireplace, and a yurt. I woke up one morning freaking out because it was so quiet. Just not used to that type of quiet. The guest book is full of honeymoons, engagements, and anniversaries and the place is special enough to warrant that type of treatment. We hope to be back one day.

I thought it would be nice to bring my husband here to celebrate his 42nd b-day,needless to say it was one of the best times we have ever had. This place is amazing. It is so private and serene that you wont want to leave. The owner helps make everything very cozy, anything you could think of is there. We are definitely going back.

I had the most amazing time during my "stay-cation" in Big Sur. I live in Big Sur but needed a break from my daily life and rented this beautiful house. It was so quiet and peaceful. It was sunny and hot all day. I hot tubbed and sat in the sun all day. The outside fireplace was the highlight. Every detail was attended to by the owner and my overall experience was great. I did not want to leave. I loved it and give it my highest recommendation. This house is so Big Sur and has such a great feeling. You can tell that the owner loves the property and treats it like a home not a rental. The next time I need a break I'm going back.

A Slice of Heaven

Upon entering the fully paved driveway, our eyes widened in utter benevolent disbelief. Greeted by an outdoor adobe fireplace with sitting area, we gazed outward to an expansive view of the enchanted Big Sur Forest. Perched at a perfect elevation, the house sits on a clearing that feels like a king hand-chiseled the spot out of the mountain for his queen. That's just the outside. Approaching the main house, our eyes didn't know which intricate architectural detail to look at first. Curving lines and wonderful woodwork mesh with striking iron doors with encased glass. Inside you are greeted with sweeping views of the surrounding forest nearly every direction through the stunning hand crafted glass windows. The energy of the building radiates curiosity through every nook and cranny, as if its blueprints were from a fairytale filled with Elvin creatures and enchanted journeys. Honestly, the pictures on this page do not do this wonderful property justice! Its simply beautiful. Not a soul around; all you hear are the sounds of the forest. Oh ya, and there's a HOT TUB! We lay for hours watching the brilliance of the stars and the night sky, contemplating our place in this Milky Way galaxy. Mary went out of her way to make our stay perfect, offering her endless knowledge of the surrounding Big Sur/Monterey Bay area. Look no further, this place is a slice of heaven! Jake + Meg

I just spent the last 6 days and 5 nights at this little beauty, let me tell you right off, the pictures don't do this place justice. I originally planned for 3, but once I got there I added, and then added again later in the week. There's this enchanting road, (right off of PCH, just below Rocky Point,) that leads deep into the woods, taking you to this incredibly well protected viewsite, along with a hot tub, a Yurt with all the creature comforts, ( except heat, which was an obsticle, but we overcame that the following day.) The neighbors are out of sight, and can't be heard, if you're looking for seclusion, a great spot to rekindle your romance, then this is more than worth the price paid. Bring extra firewood, maybe some binoclulars, the birds are so colorful, the hawks are so close, the wind in the trees, the stars at night, clouds crawling up the mountains, redwood trees everywhere, artistic accent all over, a well maintained garden, the whole property is a work of art. There are 3 separate structures, the Yurt, the main house with kitchen and loft, and the bathroom, moving between them gave me a real sense of freedom, clothes or no clothes, it's that kind of place, and nobody can see you, you are in total privacy. The kitchen is well stocked, and like the ad claims, it's 20minutes either way to civilization, Carmel or Big Sur. We felt some apprehension before embarking on this journey, but now that's it's done, there's nothing left but excitement to go back.

It has been a few years now since we stayed at this lovely home but we hope to return some time in the next year or two. The house is just beautiful and the bed in the yurt is one of the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in. We had a bit of trouble getting the hot-tub up to speed but once we did we were set. Sitting by the fire outside at night with the option to get in the tub was just wonderful. We would definitely go back!
