Lovingly preserved and freshly restored, this rustic beauty sparkles! Architecture is reminiscent of Yosemite's Ahwahnee Hotel, with cathedral ceilings, stripped redwood beams, and 4 river rock fireplaces. This idyllic retreat was built in 1930 by Pebble Beach residents, Grace and Paul Veeder to relax and entertain guests.
Cherished by our 5 family generations as a private hideaway home, The Ranch House is now offered as an exclusive, executive family retreat that today's multiple generations can treasure as they enjoy precious time together.
Exquisite kitchen, 2 quaint bathrooms (pedestal tub/shower in the guest suite and a candlelit fireplace shower in the master suite) with custom furnishings throughout. Careful preservation and upgrades adorn this historic treasure.
Just 15 minutes from Carmel, and its coastal fog, The Ranch House at Garzas Creek soaks in Carmel Valley sunshine most of the year. Minutes away to golf, horseback riding, shopping, fine dining, & wine tasting.
Our 3 bedroom / 2 bath rustic Ranch House comfortably accommodates 8 - 10 people (2 queens and 2 bunk beds) with Sheraton Sweet Sleeper mattresses and luxury linens for the most discriminating travelers. The Ranch House offers the best of yesterday with the luxuries of today.
We invite you to come discover this exceptional retreat, in a secluded canyon on 50+ acres, (1/4 mile off a quiet residential road). Features include: custom kitchen with radiant-heat tiled floors, tiled counters, custom redwood cabinets, spacious great room with majestic river rock fireplace, original wide plank redwood floors, original 'twig furniture,' Native American and early Californian art, 8' pool table, massive outdoor stone fireplace on terrace, new private hot tub, seasonal creek, and plenty of land to hike on and explore with exclusive, private trail head access to Garland Regional Park.
Equestrians, bring your horses on vacation, and stable up to 3 horses steps away from The Ranch House in our covered shed row, with 12 x 24' stalls. Ideal for trail riders and show horses. Trail riders will enjoy private access to 4500 acres of rugged mountain terrain, mountain streams and hidden Redwood Canyon in Garland Park.
Horse show participants will have peace of mind, knowing your equine friend is under your watchful eye - away from the bustle of show grounds. You both will relax in comfort, quiet, and convenience. Show venues are nearby. The Carmel Valley Trail and Saddle Club is a hack away. Pebble Beach Stables are 25 minutes away. Monterey County Fairgrounds are 30 minutes away.

The other reviews say it all - its charming, cozy, comfortable and Colleen is a peach! Here's what set The Ranch House apart for our family: we wanted something close to the Holman Ranch event venue (it is!) needed to sleep 10 adults (it did!) had to evoke all kinds of sentimental childhood memories and keep the current crowd of "kids" occupied (check and check!) There is already talk of going back for a warm weather reunion. Loved it-Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I chose the Ranch at Garzas Creek for a last minute birthday "staycation" celebration for my husband. While I only live 15 minutes away from the Ranch, I felt like I was a million miles away! It was perfect from the first inquiry I made, which was answered within minutes of being submitted. The owner was gracious and welcoming, and arranged for me to preview the house before committing. I don't think there could be a photograph that captures the feeling of this home - the feeling of peace, the rushing sound of the creek, the "in the middle of nowhere-ness" (although there are amenities clost by) that you feel as soon as you step inside the gate. The exquisite attention to detail, the spic and span cleanliness, the historic charm and well thought-out amenities (especially the hot tub and the pool table!!) all made for a fabulous epxerience for us, and for a handful of our local friends, all of whom raved about the place the minute they walked through the door. We are all in the hospitality business, so we recognize the extra effort the owners have put in place to ensure a seamless stay. My only regret was only booking two days. If we could, we would have stayed a week or longer. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay in the area, or anyone from the area looking for a getaway for themselves or their friends and family.Owner response: Dear Fiona, We are so happy you and your husband had a wonderful "staycation" at The Ranch House, and we look forward to welcoming you back again for a longer time. However, I, myself don't know how long will suffice. Truly, there is something about The Ranch House that feels as though a part of your heart is left behind. Cliche or not, it happens to me, every time! Thank you for your most generous review. Coming from you and your husband, with your experiences managing one of Carmel's most prestigious and well-respected inns, your review speaks volumes. We appreciate knowing how The Ranch House meets with your experienced eye for detail and guest comfort. I dare say, Granny would be proud. And we are grateful. We will share your good words with our caretakers and housekeepers, too. Do come back soon! The Ranch House at Garzas Creek will be waiting for you to visit that piece of your heart it holds hostage with mine. Best always, Colleen

We loved spending six days here with our dog. The house is charming and very comfortably and thoughfully furnished -- good beds and linens, good kitchen appliances, radiant heat under the floors. Loved the hot tub, the outdoor fireplace, being near Garland Ranch Regional Park's miles of trails, cooking "just-laid" eggs from the Ranch's chickens. We plan to go back next September. Our dog was very happy here. It's legal for a dog to be off-leash on the Garland Park trails, as long as the dog is in the human's sight and under voice control. There are two good restaurants within a mile or two -- Bernardus and Cafe Rustica. Enjoyed wine-tasting in Carmel Valley Village (about a mile from house).Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Our family (six of us) spent five wonderful days at the Ranch House. We were greeted by the caretaker who introduced us to the house, gave us some history, and informed us of the trails to be hiked, which we did first thing the next day at Garland Regional Park (trail just outside the house). The house was so comfortable and spacious with authentic decor of days-gone-by. The owners have done a fabulous job of restoring this gem. We loved sitting in the hot tub and listening to Garza Creek flow by; had lunch and dinner outside beside the huge fireplace; and even witnessed sheep shearing! Everyone who works on the ranch was so cordial and gracious - we want to come back! Thanks, for making this time such a treat.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Our family stayed at The Ranch House in early August, while our children attended day camp at nearby Douglas Ranch Camp. My husband loves historical ranch houses, so I arranged our stay as a birthday present for him. He grew up in Texas, and grew up on ranches that had been in his family for generations. That said, he absolutely loved the authentic preserved quality of The Ranch House at Garzas Creek more than any he's stayed in before. While you can feel the generations of history that have been hosted by the house, you can also appreciate the resort quality appointments. From the fine bedding and elegant furnishings to the ice-maker, you'll want for nothing here. Our intention was to enjoy the quiet atmosphere, away from the demands of work. We were able to do just that. Much to our surprise, however, a work emergency came up while we were there. At first we panicked. How would we do business from this beautiful, yet seemingly isolated, place? Imagine our surprise when we learned there was wifi! As my husband sat down to work at his computer, I got lost in a movie displayed on the big television screen. Our family time at The Ranch House was very special. Warm, comfortable memories were made that we'll carry for generations.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

The Ranch House is a little piece of HEAVEN! We traveled all over California in the summer of 2009. Stayed in 15 different places! Yikes! When I asked my two kids where they wanted to go this summer they both said, "THE RANCH HOUSE, PLEASE MOMMY!!! IT'S OUR FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!!" This precious little hide away has a charm about it that can only be described as magic... We had 50 acres of gorgeous property to explore. We fed the horses carrots in the morning. The hikes up the hill were fantastic. Loved the jacuzzi by the river. Old world charm with a fantastic, beautifully equipped kitchen. They even have an ice cream maker! Super comfy beds. Incredibly fun double bunk bed room for the kids called the DOG HOUSE! My kids had a wonderful time. The huge fireplaces look like something out of the wild wild west. So cozy and gorgeous. And Colleen is an absolute doll and so pleasant to do business with. I am THRILLED to say that I just got off the phone and have booked the Ranch House for six nights in July 2010! We are so happy to have something so special to look forward to and I highly recommend it! Come visit and HAVE FUN!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: What could be nicer than a review like yours, Belle?! We are so happy you have made The Ranch House your favorite home away from home. And you are "welcome home" anytime! Please hug your kids for me in thanks for their enthusiastic votes of approval.

I just spent a glorious week with my family at the Garzas Creek Ranch and I can easily state it was the best place I have ever stayed for a family vacation. The house and property are fantastic. The photos don't lie with this listing and I thought the property was even better in person. The location in beautiful Carmel Valley next to hundreds of acres of parkland and miles and miles of trails cannot be beat. My wife wanted to book for next year within 30 minutes of arriving, and by the end of the week that desire was only stronger. On the way home my seven and ten year-old daughters spent the whole drive back talking about how they want to live at the Ranch House. Can't wait to return.Owner response: Eric and Denise, we are delighted you enjoyed The Ranch House so fully. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back again soon! - Best always, Colleen and Family

I wouldn't recommend this charming house for people who want glitz and easy access to fashionable restaurants and entertainment. It was perfect for us.We loved the individuality and traditional charm. We cooked our meals on their BBQ and well equiped kitchen, enjoyed the beautiful woodsy setting and hot tub and magnificent fireplaces. Some of us played pool or read, others took long strenuous hikes up the miles of canyon and hilly trails, The only disadvantage is the third bedroom with two bunk beds whose only access is through a bathroom. It would work for children but isn't really good for an older couple. Everything was clean and recently fixed up in good taste.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We celebrated our 40th anniversary with our family by spending a long weekend at the house and we couldn't have been more pleased. We loved the rustic charm, the comfortable modern kitchen where we took turns preparing great food, roasting smores in the outdoor fireplace with the kids, and hiking the trails which began right by the house. We hope to do this again.Owner response: Harriet, We are so happy your family enjoyed your Thanksgiving Anniversary getaway in your first vacation rental experience. Happy Anniversary and we wish you many happy returns! :D

About the owner: Mom and Dad are our 3rd generation family partners. We are grateful to them for allowing us to use The Ranch House as a place where we can come and stay when we're in town, and rent to you the rest of the year! We think Great-Grands Paul and Grace, and Granny and GrandDad would be pleased, too! This is a family enterprise, and we feel truly blessed to share our heritage with you.
Why the Owner Chose Carmel Valley:
Samuel F.B. Morse was our Great GrandDad's friend from Yale. He persuaded Paul and Grace to buy almost 800 acres in Carmel Valley, and a handful of lots in Pebble Beach in the late 1920's. They loved escaping the fog on the coast to visit the Carmel Valley sunshine. Nice choice!
