Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2004

We have lived in the Lake Burton area for 14 years and just love it. There is so much to do! Fishing, hiking, shopping in Helen, Hiawassee, Clarkesville and Clayton. Boating on Lake Burton, Rabun or Seed and of course the wonderful rivers! Soque, Tallulah and Chattooga. We love to fly fish, raft on the Chattooga and hike the Appalachian trail. Our renters have all loved these things and you will too!
Very near the cabin is Hemlock Falls! A beautiful hike and spectacular water falls and swimming pond. Truly a treasure in the mountains!

Our experience with our first rental through VRBO was wonderful. The owners of the property where we stayed were very patient with my many phone calls. My granddaughter was at camp and we needed something close to her camp because we had to pick her up so early. The information we received about the distance was accurate as was the description of our rental. We were even able to change to a larger property when another member of our family could go. It was very clean and equipped with everything we needed to cook in. We will definitely return.

We had a lovely time staying in this mountain cabin very close to Lake Buton. The lake was so close (this cabin is not on the lake but for this rate it is great) but we could easily go fishing and put our boat in and if you need a boat ramp to put your boat in Lake Burton, the hatchery is just down the street about 1/2 mile with easy launching. This cabin has plenty of room for a family of 4 or 5. The rate is excellant. I would bet the Spring and Fall would be a wonderful time to go up and enjoy the lake and this cabin (a little bit cooler). It is still hot in the mountains just like Atlanta but at least we had air conditioning, some cabins do not but this one does, thank goodness!

Great little hideout!

Everything in the owner's description was true and they were helpful and super friendly! The cabin is nice and looks new. It's close to the Lake Burton, Helen, GA, and Clayton. Although it rained during our stay we had no problem just lounging in the cabin, it's plenty comfortable in all rooms. If we had any complaint it would be the steep stairs to the front door but all in all a great experience!

Dicks Creek Cabin - A wonderful place to stay

A wonderful experience at Dicks Creek Cabin. Everything we wanted and more. Loved the split floor plan with the spacious living room and kitchen and beautiful fireplace. Easy access coming and going with beautiful hiking trails nearby. Barbara and Chuck were wonderful hosts and more than accomodating. Anything we needed was offered and provided. We were fortunate to visit while snow was on the ground and enjoyed every minute. Everything looked like a winter wonderland. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you so much.

Wonderful secluded cottage in the Mountains and close to the Lake!

Date of Stay: 07/23/10 Review Submitted: 07/27/10

This cottage is very nice and affordable for rent near Lake Burton. It is very close to the lake, fish hatchery and LaPrades restaurant. The cottage was very clean and the setting is beautiful! The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. We will rent this property in the future.

Owner response:We look forward to having families, church groups, women's retreats, or men's retreats to our cabins. We now have this two bedroom/two bath cabin with a sofa sleeper that sleeps 4 to 6 and a 3 bedroom/3 bath cabin that sleeps 6 to 8. That link is www.vrbo.com/308124. We also welcome overflow for all the Lake Burton Property Owners. Barbara and Chuck

My husband and I and another couple stayed in Mr and Mrs Patterson's cabin for the Memorial Day weekend. We really enjoyed our stay. It rained the entire weekend but it was still a great stay. The rain on the tin roof just added to the charm of the cabin. There was lots of room and the cabin had everything that we needed. My husband and I are looking forward to staying there again really soon!!! Mrs. Patterson was very sweet and really nice to do business with and told us of different places and restaurants to go to!
