Stayed at KRR for a quick 3 night in October 2011. The accommodations were perfect. Janet was very flexible with our tentative travel plans, even up to the last minute. She stayed up late to welcome us to the property, which was greatly appreciated. Marv and Janet provided a number of great tips and hints about local places to eat and drink, shop, fish, and hike! One of our favorite parts of the trip was cooking a big breakfast (with all of the supplied kitchen utensils and cookware), and eating on the porch overlooking the Kenai. The location is ideal, as you're away from civilization, yet anything that you may need is short 2-3 minute drive away. During the salmon season, you can catch plenty right off the back yard. 10/10, couldn't ask for more. Thank you!

What a great place to stay. We were in the Sourdough Suite. It was immaculate, well maintained and had everything we needed, and more. Janet even gave us a call to see if there was anything else we might need. The location is perfect. So close to town. Fishing right off the river bank, a fantastic view of the river. Nice deck for relaxing and enjoying your meal cooked on the grill! When in the area and need a place to stay, Call Janet. You will NOT be disappointed!

The unit was as described, and more! Clean, comfortable, and Janet made us feel right at home. She is very much a people person and she made our stay very enjoyable. We would definitely stay there again if we every get a chance to go back to the Kenai. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee maker, refrig, pots, pans, dishwasher, etc. We loved it there! On a side note, it seems all the homes in Alaska are two stories (I think it must be for heating purposes) and the units are on the second floor.

Great headquarters for exploring Kenai

Wow, does this beat hotels by a bunch-- & for same or less $$. These long-time residents provide all the essentials, advice, fishing and clamming gear and even pepper spray for the bears on your hike. Never had such great service/hospitality. The accomodations are good for a few nights or a few months, even clothes washer & dryer. Our stay on the Kenai River with the St. Clairs was a highlight of our trip and we're recommending it to all our friends heading north. Good location for a stay and play as is close to Homer for salt-water fishing, lots of lakes and streams for fresh-water fishing, hop down to Seward and spend a night before hopping on a ferry or cruise ship south.

Dear Janet and Marv, Greetings from Destin, Florida!! Bob and I want to thank you for everything you did for us while we vacationed in your own personal paradise. We had a magnificent time, and your warm Alaska hospitality was the best! We loved everything--the location, view, herbs on the deck, all the information from a local point of view, and Marv showing us how to fillet our fish. Simply put, this was a wonderful trip we will never forget. We both have big smiles in all our photos--a happy and fun trip. We would especially recommend the catch adn release rainbow float trip with Chad Martin from Coopers Landing. The scenery was thrilling, the fishing magnificent, and the guide a very caring environmentally sensitive young man. The river was a class 3 in some places which made for a fun ride. As Janet predicted, the best meals we had were the fish we grilled right on our own deck. We will recommend Kenai River Retreat as often as we can! THE LISTING REFLECTED PERFECTLY THE PROPERTY. THE PLACE WAS IMMACULATE. THE OWNERS WERE VERY HELPFUL AND ACCOMMODATED OUR NEEDS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TOWNHOUSE AS THE BEST WE HAVE EVER STAYED IN WHILE IN ALASKA. THIS TIME WE WERE IN ALASKA FOR A MONTH.

Wonderful place to stay on the kenai

My wife and I stayed at the Kenai River Retreat (KRR) at the end of May and really enjoyed the accomodations, and our most wonderful hosts. We stayed in the Suite and had an amazing view of the kenai river from our outside deck. The KRR is very quiet, and very convenient to Soldotna, the Kenai beaches, fishing, and the many hiking trails found nearby. We highly recommend this very fine place to stay.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The acomodations are excellent and the hospitality is wonderful. The view over the river is fabulous. The property is in a very pleasant neighborhood close to a lovely park overlooking the river - just right for a quiet walk in the evening.

Thank you Marv and Jan! We had the most perfect vacation. Catching a large King Salmon on our first day at the resort and cooking it at our own place that night was amazing! Salmon never tasted better. We look forward to coming up again soon.

We had the pleasure of staying here for three nights and had a wonderful time. As a family with two teenagers we found it to be roomy and a great fit for us. The view from the window, the well equipped kitchen, the comfy beds and satellite TV just added to the stay. Janet did a great job of decorating and the many Alaskan books actually were quite entertaining. We did a fly-in salmon fishing trip and had a great time with bears right in front of our boat. Also, visit the Moose is Loose for a great cup of coffee and a delicious danish. Just had a wonderful time and want to thank Janet and Marv for their hospitality. Hope to visit again in the future. Just before we left we saw the moose cow again with her two very young calves feeding outside - what a great sight! I have not felt so relaxed in...well, as long as I can remember. Recently my husband and I had the pleasure of staying in the Salmon Suite at the Kenai River Retreat. The rooms are extremely clean, very well decorated and include everything you could possibly need, even wonderful reading material about Alaska. The deck has beautiful views of the Kenai River and you can also fish from its banks. There are many things to see and do in the area. The owners Janet and Marvin St. Clair are very accommadating, in fact, we tried "Razor" clamming in the area for the 1st time and Mary even showed us how to clean a few when we brought them back. We highly reccommend a stay with the St. Clair's. We hope to stay with them again in August before we head back to Chicago.

This wonderful retreat exceeded our every expectation. The completely stocked apartments (including hair dryers!), overlooking the Kenai River, are perfectly located for all Kenai Peninsula activities. We were even greeted by a moose cow munching on the new spring leaves outside the second level deck! Janet St. Clair is a hands-on host and was eager to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
