This place was better than expected based on the pictures. Tons of space in this huge house. Fireplaces outside and inside were great. The creek outside was pretty cool too. Although the town was small, yet it had everything we needed. The owners answered all of our questions before we arrived, and they definitely had a lot of contact information made available if we needed to contact them during our stay. The house is only about a mile south of the Appalachian Trail (but there's no route from the house to the trail, so the nearest intersection to jump on the trail is only about a 10 min. drive. This place is great. I'll be coming back for sure.

Owner response: Thanks Wesley...glad you enjoyed your stay! Dex & Ginger

We stayed for four nights in late October. It is a very serene and private location. Few cars past by. The house is very nice and well decorated. We really enjoyed the hot tub and fireplaces. The sounds from the creek were very relaxing. Fall colors on the trees were beautiful. Bonus for us was that we didn't see a single mosquito (we are from Texas) and that made it very enjoyable to be outside. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Owner response: Robert, We were glad to have you and hope to see you next year! Dex & Ginger Hubbard

What a great location and accommodation the Up the Creek Cabin was for us! Eight of us traveled by motorcycles to spend 5 days exploring the area and the Cabin was our home base. A really fun 3.5 mile road to and from the Cabin to get to town and the surrounding area. Perfect location, very comfortable home, well stocked with pots and pans, etc. If you are coming to ride the Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner28 this is the place to stay. Exactly as pictured, clean, well organized and just what we were looking for in a home away from home. We all have spoken very highly of our time at the Cabin and are already talking about returning! Thank you, Ginger and Rex for letting us use the Cabin. We had a great time!

This place is awesome. we stayed (4 of us with the bikes under the carport) for 8 days in this cabin and after doing alot of miles on the bikes every day we'd come home and relax in the hot tub, steam room, and sit by the fireplace. Ginger helped with any needs we had as well as Dex who were great people. Internet is a bit bit wonky but wasn't a big deal to be honest. No cell service (unless you have verizon and travel down the road). Again, i didnt care about that, they offer a house phone anyhow with free local and long distance. The creek running around the house.......the rocking chairs on the surrounding porch......i can go on. Cheaper and a heck of alot nicer than a hotel how can you go wrong??? Would come back and PLAN on it too. Last time out I stayed in a hotel. Never again. It may say cabin, but its a beautiful HOME honestly.

What a wonderful, relaxing week we had at "Up the Creek". The setting is private and picturesque. We spent hours on the porch enjoying the creek and hot tub. And not a mosquito in sight! Our children, 8 & 11, had a wonderful time playing in the creek. The home is beautiful and clean. We didn't want to leave this paradise, and are hoping to return next year.

Owner response: Thank you Norman...we look forward to you returning and making some more great memories at "Up the Creek".

This year our group (7 of us) decided to stay in one place for a few days instead of moving from place-to-place like we usually do. We looked on the internet and found "Up the Creek". We were a little leary about renting a place "sight unseen" but when we arrived - it was like a little piece of heaven on earth. The accommodations are wonderful, the sound of the creek running right next to the house was so soothing! Just sitting on the porch in the evenings there in the woods was worth its weight in gold!! We all had such a good time - we would recommend it to everyone and you can be sure we will go back many times!!

Owner response: Thank you so much and we are delighted that you loved "Up the Creek" as much as we do. We want you to feel at home when you're at "Up the Creek".

Beautiful home with plenty of room and everything we needed for a great vacation. Reservations process was easy and owners were responsive and accommodating. Location provided privacy with convenience to shopping, food, attractions, and all the winding roads we could ride. After long days of riding and sightseeing, we enjoyed sitting by the outdoor fireplace and listening to the creek from the wraparound porch. There was little to no cell phone signal in the area, so we really appreciated the free long distance from the house phone. We will definitely stay here again on our next motorcycle vacation to the mountains.

Up the Creek is an awesome place to relax if you are looking for peace, quiet and comfort. My husband and I along with 3 other Goldwinging couples spent 3 of the best days of a 10 day vacation there. The first part of our trip took us to Mt Airy, N.C. to spend some time with family and ride in the mountains, however, one of our group (my brother) had a heart attack and spent 4 days in the hospital. The day he was released, he mounted his Wing and away we went on a 7 hr ride ( 5 hrs in the pouring rain) to Robbinsville and Up the Creek. What a treat to find such a beautiful and comfortable home waiting for us. We had easy access to the home and we felt as though we were special guests instead of just renters. The weather continued to be nasty and my brother needed to rest so we spent more time at the house than we normally would have but enjoyed every minute of the time there. These owners really know how to treat their guests!

Owner response: Thanks for the nice review Mary Anne. We hope your brother is doing ok and hopefully next trip the weather will be better. Take care and see ya next year!

This place is incredible, the decor is very tasteful with all the comforts of home plus more. We wished we could have spent more time at the cabin but our main focus was riding! But at the end of the day it was exciting because you knew what you were returning to. Some how it would just make the bikes go a little faster on the way back. I doubt that I would ever get tired of the sound of the creek running along the house. Up the Creek is a definite place to return to and recommend to friends and relatives.

8 of us Ladies on motorcycles had a wonderful stay last week at this Cabin. It had just about anything and everything you could possibly need. Close to town for groceries yet far enough away from all of the hustle & bustle of the real world. Easy drive up there with good curvy roads. Covered parking! We plan to return no doubt! Thank you so much Ginger and Dex for sharing a special part of your serenity with us!

A group of us (9)-- stayed at Up the Creek July, 2010. It was wonderful --- I would go back & also recommend. The creek is spectacular, the house--- with all its ammenities ---- is suberb and there are tons of really fun things to do in the area. There were a few hic-cups (Internet & phone connection could be patchy) but they responded quickly to fix the problems. The last (and perhaps main) reason I am promted to write though is because I stayed at another VRBO place in August (different area) and while it was nice enough---it was not as portrayed in the write up--- which leads me to my point: what they say here is exactly what you get and that means alot to me----honesty and a great place to stay...book it now, you will love it.

The house was just as pictured and very clean. The owners are easy to get a hold off if you have any questions. The stream along the house was beautiful. You can't go wrong staying at this house. Close enough to the Tail of the Dragon and a great place to stay if you have motorcycles. There is a cover to park motorcycles under.

Dex, We are friends of Gary & Susie Woods and they are the ones that told us about this beautiful cabin. We vacation with our son and his family in May of 2007. It was unbelieveable. Then in Sept. of 2008 Gustove hit our area. We had a 6 week old grandbaby and Gary & Susie came to our rescue and guided us back to the cabin. Thank you for opening your to us at a terrible time in our lives. God Bless!!! Hope to visit the cabin soon. Moe & Louise Borne

Dex and Ginger, I got you message on the machine Friday night. We were out every day on the roads of your beautiful area enjoying the scenery. Thanks for checking in with us, everything about "Up The Creek" was wonderful, we were truly amazed at the how nice everything was and how reaxing the sound of the creek beside the deck was. I hope that we left everything in order as per the instructions, with out our wives to guide us we somtimes overlook the details that we should do. We would love to stay at "Up the Creek" in the future when we visit your area.

We had a great family vacation at Up the Creek. The house is perfect - great wrap-around porch. We enjoyed the outside fireplace - great for relaxing at night after a full day of hiking, tubing and playing at the lake. The owners thought of everything - even attaching the local supermarkets reward card to the house key so that you can the best deals. The house is completely furnished - we have rented other places before but none were stocked as well as Up the Creek. Plenty of room in the house, beds were all very comfortable, and super clean with modern appliances. Sauna and hot tub were great. We set up a volleyball net on the front yard and the kids loved playing in the creek all week - they found a huge crayfish. Some of the things we did in the area was hiking in the Kilmer forest, going to Cherokee, going tubing in Bryson City, and swinging off a rope into Fontana Lake (my boys favorite!). Beautiful house, friendly owners, perfect setting - Up the Creek is just a perfect rental for a vacation and a great bargain.

"Up the Creek"...This place is a sanctuary! Every room tells it's own story and each has a "happily ever after". I felt so at ease, from the moment I stepped inside. The house envelopes you with a comforting warmth that is almost indescribable; like your favorite pair of flannel sleep pants and the paper-thin teeshirt with holes (from so many washings) that you want to wear every night just because it feels so good. I stayed for an entire week, slept in every bed, and as a self-proclaimed sleep connoiseur, I can boldly state that they all fit the bill! If the inside weren't good enough, the outdoors will lure you to come out and "sit a spell" by the outdoor fireplace and rock your troubles away. How can you resist wading in the creek or soaking in the hot-tub while you watch your kids wade in the creek! There is something for every personality and trust me, you won't want to leave!!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for allowing us to stay at your place this past week. It was wonderful and we couldn't have found a better place. The atmosphere was so relaxing that it was hard to leave every morning to go riding, but coming home to it made it all that more enjoyable. We put almost 1200 miles on the bikes during our stay! We took some pics of it, to show our friends and to advertise for you. I have already had 2 people ask me about it so I hope it helps. As being small business owners ourselves, we know how every little bit counts. I gave the house a look over after everyone left and I hope it was up to your satisfaction. We hope to be staying with you guys again next year. A & M Motorcycle Safety Course 904-757-5543

Our stay at Up the Creek was exactly what we wanted and expected. The setting, beside a running brook, along with the porches and the view made it an ideal place to go after a long day of motorcycle touring. The house is very nice and well appointed with everything we needed, including the spa and hot tub for relaxing after a long day's ride. The location was great, just minutes from stores and supplies and close to area attractions, but just far enough out to be peaceful and quiet. The owner was very accommodating and checked with us several times to see that everything met our expectations. We highly recommend Up the Creek and will visit again. Richard S-Birmingham, AL

Whether you need just a few days away from the world, or if you need an extended vacation - this is the home for you! The cabin is secluded, but close enough to the amenities of town that makes it a very convenient location. The location is beautiful and tranquil. You must sit on the wraparound porch and enjoy the sound of the stream flowing by. Enjoy the jacuzzi and sauna in the mild weather that the Western North Carolina mountains provide. The house is immaculate. The kitchen provides every modern amenity. The bedrooms are very cozy and inviting. Open the windows at night and let the sound of the flowing creek lull you to sleep. Let the cool air enter the home and sink into one of those amazing beds. Cover up with those wonderful heavy quilts then drift into dreamland. You won't have a better night's sleep anywhere!! There are many things to do in the area. Go fishin right there in your backyard. The house is minutes from the Nantahala River and rafting is a fun adventure for the whole family. Take time to drive around the Cherohala Skyway to take in the extraordinary view of the mountains. Travel to nearby Bryson City and ride the Smoky Mountain Railway train through the mountains. The area offers a variety of fun activities for couples or for the family. If you want to get away from all the fuss and chaos of everyday life, then this is the place for you!! This was a wonderful, relaxing choice for our vacation and I look forward to staying there again soon!

We loved it! The home is so comfy and peaceful. I loved sleeping with the windows open and listening to the creek. The decor is warm and friendly. We slept in the red room and the bed was so comfy I checked out the matress manufacturer to buy one for my own home. The hot tub was fabulous after a full day of mountain biking. The home is close to fabulous mountain biking trails at Tsali and a several other trails. It's also close for white water rafting/kayaking on the Nantahala River. There are hiking trails galore in the area too. We had so much to do in the area that we didn't make it home in time to build a fire in the outdoor fireplace or use the steam room. We're hoping to come back soon so we can do that. It was relaxing spending the mornings having breakfast on the deck by the creek and doing some a.m. yoga/stretching on the wrap-around porch. We picked wild flowers in the area everyday and brought them home so we could enjoy the beauty of the local flowers. The furnishings were new and the home was spotless. I highly recommend it for everyone.

Breathtaking is the first word that comes to mind! The house is beautifully decorated and the outside surroundings are just as lovely. The house has a wrap around porch with a fireplace that is great for a cool night in the mountains. A stream flows beside the house making it so peaceful to sit on the porch and read a book. Did I mention the hot tub and sauna. You actually have the feeling that you are at a mountain resort with all the amenities. If you need a getaway vacation this is the place to go. The only thing is when you stay for awhile you will never want to leave.

WOW!!!! What a wonderful place!!! The house as well as the rest of the property is perfect for a relaxing getaway. It is so quiet & peaceful there - listening to the many birds & sitting on the lovely deck watching the little creek flow over the rocks. We stayed in the beautifully decorated downstairs bedroom. Slept like babies (very comfortable bed)!!! By the way, we loved the raccoons in the canoe!!!! The whole house was really decorated great. You could tell that the owners put a lot of thought into their furnishings of the house making it a welcome & relaxing visit for their guests. The kitchen was well furnished also, with everything you could possibly need to prepare any kind of meal. We were really impressed with how clean the house & the whole property was. We are looking forward to a return trip to this little bit of paradise!!!!

One of the most relaxing vacations I have ever taken. We took our neighbors who have never been to the mountains and they fell in love with the place. We went in the fall and it was cool so we got to enjoy the outdoor fireplace. There is so much to do in the surrounding area, Blue Ridge Parkway, Smokies, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Force . Cherokee Casino, Nantahala Gorge, and Biltmore House, however the cabin was so cozy you could just stay there and have a wonderful time. I would highly recommend it to anyone and hope to go back soon.

Owner response: "Up the Creek" cabin is designed to be a true home away from home. We want our guest to have the comforts of home while enjoying all of the pampering of a luxury get-away. We've provided lots of little extra's for our guest but none compare to what Mother Nature has provided! Imagine a backdrop of breathtaking mountain laurel, an abundance of natural ferns protruding over smooth rocks scattered throughout a winding noisy creek. Everyone should get to enjoy the mountains of WNC at least once…and in the comforts of “Up the Creek”!

My family and I spent a weekend or two there. We love the spaciousness of the house, but also the closeness you get when you have a large family like mine......the location is great. We all loved the wrap around porch, that looks out over the creek. The house is immaculately clean, it has a touch of modern day life, with little touch of home. The hot tub/sauna were in planning before I moved, so I didn't get to take advantage of them, but perhaps on my visit home I will be able to spend some time there and enjoy what I missed. It is the perfect getaway for couples/families or friends to enjoy some quality time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If you are looking for a little excitement to go along with your trip then Dollywood and Harrah's Cassino are a few of the attractions to check out. If you are a nature person, then there are Joyce Kilmer National Forest and The Trail of Tears just to mention a few, there is lots more to offer. I would highly recommend it to anyone. The owners have really tried to make it a fantastic place to make memories. If you are looking for the perfect mountain getaway, then this is the place you want to visit. Ellen
