We were very pleased at our arrival to find the cabin just the way it was described. The cabin was cozy , warm , relaxing , and clean. We would definitely rent the cabin again next time we visit Maggie Valley. The handling of the reservation , check in , and check out was great. We really needed more time to fully enjoy all there is to do inside and out. The extra little things done to make this a real treat was appreciated. It would be helpful if the coffee maker clock was readable so we could set it auto brew. Other than that it was perfect!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We had a wonderful stay at A World Apart. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and has all the amenities that it states. We enjoyed the hot tub, jacuzzi, pool table and just relaxing in front of the fireplace. It was relatively close to most places but if you want to be A World Apart then you expect to travel a little to get to destinations. The only negative that I had to our stay was the road leading to the cabin. I have a very low sitting car so it was difficult. You do not necessarily need a 4 wheel drive but a high sitting vehicle would have made it easier. Brien and Tricia are the best, when you contact them they respond within moments, that is what I call wonderful customer care. I would recommened this cabin to anyone intrested in visiting the area.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I booked 2 nights over Valentines day as a short get away for my wife and myself. The cabin is tucked away on the side of a mountain, fairly secluded from others. The inside is charming and warm with a huge fireplace and a nice kitchen. Make sure you bring plenty of firewood. Overall a great place to get away for a bit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are so glad you got to enjoy the cabin because it was at a short notice but pleased it worked out for you. The cabin's seclusion is a very charming part of staying at A World Apart and not having neighbors around to intrude is a huge plus besides possibly obstructing views. From the time you walk in the door you feel invited to stretch out and relax! And many of our guests are sad to leave. We hope you had a very nice, romantic get-away and you come back and see us again.

This is a beautiful home! Upon pulling up you notice the character of the house, perfect for a mountain getaway. Entering the home it is decorated beautifully; giving the home a rustic style with comfortable furniture and all the amenities to make you feel like it's all yours. We enjoyed sipping coffee on the patio in the mornings and relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings (the pool table also got a lot use). Great stay and would recommend considering this home for your getaway.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope you return again soon! We are looking forward to the future and we have been making plans to improve the amenities such as adding a fire pit area outside which we know our guests will enjoy. Thanks so much for your feedback and if you have any additional improvements or suggestions that you can think of we sure would appreciate your input. Thanks, Brien & Tricia

The name of the cabin could not be more fitting...A World Apart. The cabin is literally on top of the mountain and very secluded. This was my birthday weekend getaway and I could not have asked for more. It was very romantic and the cabin is just beautiful and cozy. Also very close to all attractions (Harrahs Cherokee casino, Biltmore ect. My only regret is that we had so many things planned we didn't get to spend as much time in the cabin as I would have liked...but thats a good excuse to come back :) The ladies at Carolina Vacations were so very nice and helpful about getting to the cabin and letting us know to find the cabin before dark and area activities. I would say if you are not familiar with the area you should definitely get there before dark to find the cabin it is up a steep narrow road and very secluded but that is part of the charm of the cabin. Also noted we could see the roller coaster on the side of the adjacent mountain at Ghost Town from the bedroom balcony. There are just so many things that I could list that I love about this place! Definitely would love to be there when it snows! Thanks for sharing this place with others!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay & we would love to have you visit again! Maybe you can make it back when it does snow. The cabin is absolutely breathtaking when it is covered with a blanket of white snow. And I know what you mean because every time we visit it is NEVER long enough! Thank you for taking the time to leave such a great review and again we look forward to your return visit.

Surprising! Two days of leaf peeping, two days of surprise storms due to hurricane Sandy - 8 inches of snow! 4 days of cabin bound. We enjoyed the snow and watching our dogs Max and Ernie figure it out. We enjoyed walking on the roads around the cabin - it's pretty flat where we come from. We love bears, owls, and chickens - our home has lots. So we loved the way the cabin was laid out and decorated. It all felt very homey! Thank you for sharing this lovely cabin. We loved the fireplace - very cozey!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Enjoyed the peacefulness of sitting on the porch swing and driving the twisty road to Cataloochee valley. Great cabin for relaxing and close enough to visit the elk - we actually went twice. Enjoyed hiking up the hill and looking over the valley. Thanks for the walking sticks on the porch!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Bistro 1896 in Asheville - BEST restaurant! Enjoyed the hot tub, Great Smoky Mountain Train ride, white water rafting, hiking near the cabin, the beautiful scenery, the rocking chairs and the swing on the porch. Met some very nice people on the train. We loved the cabin and the whole area. Wish we could stay another week. We saw the beauty of God's abundant blessing everywhere we looked and visited, but especially around the cabin.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I guess our most favorite was opening the front door and taking in the beauty of this cabin. It's so well decorated. We spent about 75% of our time here just taking in the serenity. We didn't leave the cabin for 2 days. We really enjoyed the hot tub, pool table and sitting on that front porch swing drinking our morning coffee. We hated to leave after 7 days in heaven but we know this will be where we return to next year. This relaxing vacation was just what the doctor ordered.Did you find this review helpful? Went to: Stomping Ground, Butts on the Creek (restaurant), Asheville mall. Enjoyed horse back riding and the hot tub. We loved the pool table and the colors on the hot tub was amazing. The chess/checkers were so much fun. It was scary coming up the mountain but it was so all worth it! There was a gorgeous waterfall when you're coming up. We loved the theme and loved the experience to come here!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Lots of fires in the fireplace, hot tub, coffee on the deck, hiking, relaxing, lots of driving. Went to: National Park, Cherokee, Waynesville, Gatlinburg. Was surprised to see shops/restaurants still closed until April but despite this there were some open and they were great! The cabin has all the essentials, the washer and dryer are great. We all know doing laundry after vacation isn't fun! Careful of shower upstairs leaks does not close completely (just lift up a little to close). Hot tub is great as well as the jetted tub upstairs.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Beautiful, uniquely built secluded house. Highest built house on the mountain. Full use kitchen and spotlessly clean bathrooms. Hot tub felt and looked brand new. Perfect house for 2-4 adult guests. Definitely need a truck or full wheel drive vehicle for parts of drive up. Wifi and directv was a nice feature and nice size tv in main room.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. It was great having you as our guests and we look forward to having you visit again. We do highly recommend that our Winter guests have a vehicle appropriate for mountain roads covered in snow and ice. However, in the "Sunny" months I prefer to take my sports car when visiting. :-)

What a great place to get away from work & the hustle & bustles of family life & reconnect! The weather was beautiful & we enjoyed checking out the view from each porch. We spent an afternoon driving up to Clingman's Dome. The drive on the Parkway was nice & the view from Clingman's Dome - breathtaking! We would highly recommend it! We also spent an evening at the casino. Great people watching place. We also came back with a little more $ than we left with so that was a bonus. Beautiful house! Wonderful location! Great weekend! We've had the best time & taken lots of great photos!!! This is our second vacation in the area & thoroughly enjoyed it. Cade's Cove was great & we have pictures of bear, deer, turkey, coyote & fox. The weather has been perfect & could not asl for any better! The cabin is beautiful & so relaxing, not to mention so cozy & homey. The mountain laurel is in full bloom & we've been feeding the local wildlife & having a great time with that. Thank you so much for letting us use your cozy, relaxing cabin, it really was a pleasure. We look forward to our visit next year & greatly enjoyed our time here & will go home with some great photos for our album. P.S. - We were able to enjoy coffee in the morning, wine in the evening on the cabin porch. It's perfect! Thank you so much! Live - Laugh A Lot - LoveDid you find this review helpful? Gary and I & Mocha & Sarge (our chocolate & Black labs) absolutely love the cabin! We all felt at home from the minute we arrived. It snowed the first 2 days we were here and we didn’t mind staying in & keeping warm by the fire. The wood in the house is just gorgeous and the stone fireplace is amazing. The stair railings are really neat, too. We’ve had fun enjoying the hot tub, the tub upstairs, and of course the pool table. We wanted a relaxing vacation & this cabin provided just that type of environment. Our fury babies were very relaxed this week too as all 4 of us could be found taking naps. :-) We enjoyed going to historic Waynesville, go to the coffee/furniture shop there & get a good cup of Kona coffee & you have to get a slice of coconut cake…truly a slice of heaven!! We also got to see Biltmore @ Christmas, which was neat. The Blue Ridge Parkway was closed for repairs, so that was a bummer. Maybe next time. Hopefully we can see some elk tomorrow and to to the Soco Falls down the road before it’s back to Raleigh. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin in these gorgeous mountains. It was the perfect winter getaway that we needed.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

When trying to decide where to go for our honeymoon, we thought what could be better than back up to the mountains and this amazing cabin. We were seeking a relaxing trip, and that’s exactly what we got, couldn’t have been better! Enjoyed the fall scenery, beautiful views, and couldn’t get enough of the hot tub. Just what we needed after our amazing, but hectic Wedding. Went to Asheville one evening for a beautiful dinner at the Sunset Terrace at the Grove Park Inn. An Amazing, full suset accompanied our dinner out on the terrace. Also went to see the elk one evening, which was a really cool experience, ended up being about 10 miles off of Cove Creek Road, up and down the mountain side. Guest from Fort Mill, SC entered the following in our cabin's guest book: Death of the Diet After being on the Atkins/South Beach for 6 weeks and only 4 lbs from my goal, total crap broke out in MV, Cherokee and Waynesville as my 4 day vacation from the diet turned into a binge fill pursuit of carbohydrates: Pizza, Chips & Nacho Cheese, Hush puppies, Gravy, OJ, homemade Reesie Cup, Bread, Crackers, French Fries, Jelly, Twizzles, and Sour Gummy Bears. looks like I'll be checking into the Betty Crocker center for carb addicts when I get back home. Fried Apple Pie... This was the only carb I was going to eat, but time after time i was foiled in the quest for a FRIED APPLE PIE. Even went to the Apple Festival in Waynesville - they had everything apple, fruit, apple butter, jelly, jam, underwear, cake, bread, apple tacos, but no apple fried pies (turnover). On a surprising note, there was a Native American in Cherokee performing a chanting dance. Afterwards, he spoke with the audiance in his native New York accent while smokng his cigarettes. His family must have descended from the group that sold Manhattan for $24. Watch out for the local bear - he begs! The hike to Water Rock Knob was steep, and then was no water at the top. continued...Chipmunks or Muckrats? which are they? Like Visa, they are everywhere you are. One evening walking close by, I noticed 3-4 following me. Soon, I found myself surrounded by them. If only I had a Fried Apple Pie to offer as a sacrifice. Closer they came. I tried calling them Alvin, I tried playing Captain & Tennille, but nothing stopped them. What would happen to me? Would I be gnawed to death? Would small pieces of me be stored in their chubby cheeks? The answer lie in my failed diet. In my jacket was 4 oz (232 jelly Belly) - flavor very cherry. Throwing them in the air, thou tiny brained vermin went for the sour tasty treats as I made my escape. Had a Good Time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Guest from Shallotte, NC entered the following in our cabin's guest book: After a 6 1/2 hour drive across NC & SC we're here!! We live at the beach and needed a break from the very hot, humid summer. We also have every species of bug known to mankind! Your cabin is great! You certainly planned it well, and decorated it nicely. Gorgeous forest - peaceful seclusion. The ceiling over the deck is exactly like the one, color and all, of ours in our home of 19 years on the Catawba River in Meclenburg Co - (Charlotte). Nostalgic! So far (9-25), we have not heard one hoot owl, :-), of course, no bears yet, so that's good! About this road - whew, our poor Buick will never be the same! Sherry hit a jackpot at Harrah's - happy days!!! Now we can go back again! Yesterday, 9-24, we arrived in Bryson City minutes after a bank robbery! Police cars zooming everywhere! After a chase they arressted him a block from the bank. To be continued. Today, we visited Waynesville and shopped on Main St. Very nice! Of course, I found Walmart - greatest one I've ever gone to! But, the hi-lite of the day has to be the multiple flushing toilet handle at the police dept!!! I kid you not! Push up for #1, down for #2!! :-) we rode the Great Smoky Mt. RR today. Great staff, but saw more kudzu than anything. Would not recommed unless the trees have changed color - especially considering the price. Ladies, check out Sassy Sisters up-scale consignement between Sylva and Dillsboro - great store! Men - knife store next door. Love the hot tub - Moon and Sun shining down (not at the same time). The wood work in the house is first class! Some lost people drove up after dark - a little creepy. Yea - "Dancing with the Stars" is on! Thanks for the washer/dryer! No Hoot Owl yet! We found a great antique store today (9-30) 7 miles west of Waynesville headed towards Sylva on the right. Name? We can't remember! Is has rained 20" back home in Shallotte the last 2 days. What a mess! Only 4 inches here. We grilled hamburgers tonight and enjoyed the great hot tub. Colder tonight. Back to Waynesville tomorrow. No Hoot Owl yet. Well, we go home tomorrow. It is 40 degrees today at 5:30. Feels great! We went to see friends today who have a farm in the country west of here. We have really enjoyed our trip. P.S. No Hoot Owl!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Guest from Bay Minnette, AL and Lower Burrel, PA entered the following in our cabin's guest book: We enjoyed our time at this great home away from home. We came on our first vacation with our children’s grandparents. First time we have spent this much bonding time together because we live so far away. We enjoyed tubing down the river in Cherokee. We love Cataloochee Valley “elk”. I just thought this drive was hair raising but the road to Cataloochee Valley made this look like a walk in the park. But it was worth it! Our most favorite was the mornings visiting on the poarch you really are a “World Apart” here. We loved our breakfast at Joey’s pancake house, Unto these Hills play, but would not spend our money again on the “authentic Indian village”. Thanks for sharing this wonderful place. FYI – we viewed the Elk from 6:45 – 8:00 had to leave the house about 5:45-6 to get there gates close at 8Pm.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Guest from Richmond, VA entered the following in our cabin's guest book: Enjoyed our honeymoon stay in the mountains. Wish we had more time but we must get back to the city. We liked the blackbirds that help clean up all the dead moths on the front porch. Hope to be back soon. Thanks for the time in the cabin. Thank you! It was so beautiful out here!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Guest from Pekin, IL entered the following in our cabin's guest book: Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cabin. A slice of heaven is what comes to mind. The only thing we could have asked for is more time. However, the reality of home is calling back to the real world.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Guest from Atlanta, GA entered the following in our cabin's guest book: We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! What an amazing and charming cabin! My boyfriend and I came up here for a weekend snowboard trip at Cataloochee, which was a lot of fun. We are supposed to see some heavy snow before we head home, which will be a great bonus! Most important, a life changing event took place right on your balcony…we got engaged! So thanks for providing such a romantic and cozy cabin. This place will always be a special memory for us and we definitely plan on coming back!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Guest from Emerald Isle, NC entered the following in our cabin's guest book:We’re Back! We stayed here in July of 2008 and we decided this was where we wanted to return to. We arrived on Wednesday. Even now on Sunday, we feel we could stay longer. Your cabin seems like our little home away from home. From the wine glasses, condiment dishes to my favorite deep frying pan, your home makes our stay just perfect! Thank you again for sharing your home with us. We’ll be back! * Thank goodness we missed Tropical Storm Ida on the coast back home while we were here!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Guest from Pittsville, MD entered the following in our cabin's guest book: As with many other notes written - we to have been to Maggie Valley before, but this is the best cabin. It is beautiful here. We have enjoyed many walks up and down the mountain to the Mountain Plateaus. Yesterday we walked to the plateau below us and played a game of mountain crozuet. Thank the Lord we didn’t lose any balls over the mountainside. We have done very little traveiling this trip and have spent most of our time right here. I think Mindy (our friends Border Collie) had as much fun as we did. We have made good use of the pool table and our 4 yr old daughter and I have spent many days in the the hot tub (98 degrees) so she could swim. Again your cabin is beautiful and exceeded our expectations. All the wood is beautiful as well as all the décor. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us. We wished we would have planned for 2 weeks off. God BlessDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Guest from Acworth, GA entered the following in our cabin's guest book: It has been a great weekend at your cabin! You have done a wonderful job of thinking of everything – we have stayed in many rental homes and your kitchen is the most well-stocked we have seen. The décor made us feel so comfortable and we honestly didn’t want to leave! Thanks for allowing pets too – our Border Collie loved it! We would love to return soon and often!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

[Note from Owner: I'm not sure what to make of this comment, but hopefully they enjoyed their time with nature. I've always heard the Crab Cracker Chipmunk is the most dangerous species. Now we have proof.]It was a nice, sunny day. Suddenly, the chipmunks attacked. They invaded by the 100’s. We fought them off for nearly 3 hours, but we failed. Many of them had crab crackers. 15 of us campe up, 3 of us came down. The chipmunks took the rest. The 3 of us continued to hold them off, but since the Direct TV wasn’t working, we lost Bill. BIIIILLLL!!!!! 2 weeks after the first attacks the chipmunks broke in. They came in through the windows, fireplace, toilets, etc. There’s too many of them. N000000000ooooooo........[2nd Note from Owner: We had to have our DirecTV system redone so it was out of service for a few weeks. We're happy to report that all is well with it now (and no more sightings of Crab Cracker Chipmunks have been reported).]Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/4

Guest from Newport News, VA and Ocala, FL entered the following in our cabin's guest book:A quiet retreat, especially with the cable out of service. But, amazingly, a 16 year old survived – we feel only 10-15 hours of therapy and he will be “normal” again. The road up/down becomes a bit unnverving after days of rain, but the Japenese made auto did a fine job. The home is lovely and well equipped (we forgive your lack of Crab Crackers) but would have loved to be able to open a door or window and relish the cool night air. So screens would be our suggestion. We had a lovely time – for the 2 of us from Virginia, it was our first trip and most enjoyable. The Floridians have been here several years running. [Note from Owner: We took their advice and added screen doors so relishing of cool night air is now possible. :-)]Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A guest from Melbourne, FL entered the following in our cabin's guest book:We had a great time visiting the area and staying in your quaint cabin. This was our 1st trip to the Smoky Mts. What a great place to escape the summer humidity of FL! Our favorite day was spent driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and hiking to the waterfall at “Graveyard Trail”. If you do this hike make sure to climb above the 1st part of the fall to see the much more impressive fall beyond. We also spent an afternoon at Sliding Rock. If you like adventure this is for you – very fun! Thanks for sharing your cabin, the hot tub was very nice, as was the peaceful privacy.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A guest from Chicago, Il entered the following in our cabin's guest book:We had a wonderful time with the cabin and enjoying the surrounding area. It’s a great central location between the park, Asheville, Wine country, etc. Enjoyed grilling and eating out in town (Arf’s!). We would love to fit it in to our vacation schedule sometime in the future – so much more to see.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

In my search for the perfect honeymoon, there were certain features that my husband and I were looking for. He wanted a pool table. I wanted a fireplace and a hot tub and lots of privacy. We both wanted to be in the mountains. A World Apart truly is a world apart. Even now, almost a year later I can't help but look at the pictures of this perfect cabin and reminisce. The pictures are a perfect representation of the cabin. It was very cozy and well stocked. There are so many things nearby. Some of the activities we enjoyed were riding the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad, visiting the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, spending the day in Cherokee and the national forest, spending a day in Gatlinburg, and waterfall hiking. We had the perfect mix of romance and adventure! The owners are incredibly nice and very helpful. Brien made a few recommendations for places to eat and things to do in the area. I must credit him with telling us about Joey's Pancake House!! We ate there almost every day for breakfast. It is the best breakfast I've ever eaten. That alone is worth the 8 hour drive!! My only gripe, which I hate to even do, is the drive up the mountain. Thankfully we had 4-wheel drive. Even in the middle of June, I don't know how any vehicle could make it up that gravel without 4wd. After the storm we had, the mud was terrible and much of the gravel had been washed out. I would not recommend anyone without 4wd trying to access this cabin. We can't wait to come back to A World Apart. It will definitely be our cabin of choice the next time we visit Maggie Valley.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
