The Diener Cottage is newly-renovated and with the 17 windows that surround the cottage you're guaranteed an abundance of waterfront views and ample sunlight.
The open floor plan of the cottage allows the conversation to easily flow from the fully-equipped kitchen to the living and dining areas. French doors open wide into the spacious sunroom situated along the lakeside with table tennis, upright piano and a big comfy chair where you can finally catch up on that good book you've been meaning to read.
Outdoors you can sit back and watch the sunset while you roast a marshmallow or two over the fire pit located just a few feet from the water's edge. By day, you might enjoy some waterskiing or tubing in your own boat, dock provided, or perhaps, you'll just sit out under the tall willow tree and watch the swans swim by. And if none of that suits you, relax on the hammock inside the screened gazebo located perfectly to enjoy the gentle breezes and view the lake.
Shavehead Lake is the perfect location for your getaway as it's nestled in the woods that surround a 250 acre, spring-fed, all-watercraft lake. And for those who require more than just peace and quiet, the lake is only a short drive to a myriad of attractions sure to satisfy every member of the family.

Year Purchased: 2006
Hello, we're Lynn and Daniel Diener. We're co-owners and managers of the Diener Cottage. We love offering our family's cottage as a vacation-rental and we really love it. It is so fun meeting all the guests that have come our way, and we are looking forward to meeting this season's guests. This venture allows us to excercise our hospitality muscles; it's something we both enjoy. Daniel tends to be the maintenance guy and you might see him at the cottage on a Saturday, between guests, out mowing the lawn. Lynn is the one you're most likely to meet as she coordinates the rentals and often greets the incoming guests. When we're not at the cottage, we're at our home 30 minutes away caring for our three children and working at our "real" jobs.
Why the Owner Chose Three Rivers
We chose Shavehead Lake (in Vandalia, Michigan) because it's a short drive from our house. It's close enough to get to in an afternoon but far enough that it feels like a getaway. It's a short drive to Chicago and other Michigan cities which makes it accessible to our guests. It really is an ideal location.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
The Diener Cottage has some lovely qualities. It is located on a lake where most properties are owned by folks that live there year-round. This means the property is quiet. It's a little oasis nestled in the woods and on a lake, and while it feels very secluded, there are restaurants and theaters only a few minutes away. It's a very nice balance.
