Bernards Landing is generally acknowledged to be the premier resort on Smith Mountain Lake, with homes priced from approximately $260,000 to over $700,000. The resort has every amenity including two swimming pools, racquetball, a private health club, a Jacuzzi, an award-winning waterfront gourmet restaurant, a waterfront tiki bar lounge, a marina, a sandy beach, boat ramp, and boat docks.
Our condominium sits thirty feet from the water on a grassy hill and overlooks a wide water view of Smith Mountain Lake. Smith Mountain can also be seen from the balcony. Our second floor unit opens to a broad deck that runs the width of the condominium. There are boat slips available for your boat directly in front of our building for a daily rental fee. Sliding glass doors extend across the back of the condominium and afford a wide view of the lake. It also offers a magnificent view of the sun rising over the lake. At night the stars glow brightly to make for a romantic setting on the balcony. We love to watch the boats slowly come and go to the Landing restaurant at the end of our cove.

My wife and I just returned from staying a couple of days at this wonderful condo in Bernard's Landing. It was a last minute decision to come to the lake for the SML Charity Home Tour. The photos and listing are correct in the closeness of the unit to the water and the guest dock. We found everything to be as advertised. The view of the lake from the kitchen is good, from the family room is better, and of course is great from the covered deck. There was always plenty of room at the guest dock for our 24 foot pontoon boat. We ate one lunch and one dinner on the condo deck in the comfortable deck furniture as the weather permitted. We had a blast the first night at the onsite Bruno's Gastro Pub, enjoying a Kobe beef burger, several Octoberfest type brews, and the live guitar playing entertainer. The condo kitchen was easy to prepare meals in, and is larger than some other accomodations we have stayed in at the lake. The large tv and comfortable family room furniture were welcome when the exterior temperature dipped down into the low 50s at night, as we typically enjoy after dark cruising on our boat. Ken was very easy to work with setting this trip up on quick notice, even saving us a long walk to pick up the key. As luck would have it, we met Ken's daughter during our stay, and she sent Ken out to meet us, as he was visiting her that evening. We highly recommend this unit for others to stay in, especially if you have a boat. We noticed that the guest dock, gangway, and steps looked to have new floorboards installed and the dock line cleats were actually bolted tightly to the dock. It is worth noting that the lake water level was the lowest it has been in years (approximately 4 feet lower than normal), and we were still able to use the onsite boat launch ramp (the trailer wheels did go off the lower end of the concrete ramp, and still no problem) and had plently of water depth at the guest dock. We look forward to staying here again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

We had an absolutely wonderful time with our family at Smith Mountain Lake. It was a wonderfulvacation. Thank you so much for making your condo available to us for the July 4th. weekend. My husband, son and I drove down from PA and met our daughter and son-in-law who drove up from GA. We throughly jet skis, the beach, the outdoor pool, some local shops and local restaurants, a wine tasting, the fireworks, and the comfort and convenience of your condo!. We ate out on the deck all the time-thank you for providing good deck furniture!. It was nice having access to the club house. It was great to have the dock right there when we had the jet skis. And Michael and Scott played Scrabble Saturday morning on the deck. Again, thank you very much! I,m sure we'll head back to Smith Mountain Lake again and again. The condo was perfectly accommodating. It was very comfortable and extremely clean! The view from the balcony was beautiful! The amenities at Bernard's Landing were very convenient and fun. Also, the owners were so nice and always quickly responded to my many questions.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

About the owner: Ken & Peggy Gibbs hope to retire at Smith Mountain Lake once Peggy retires in 2017. Their "Margaritaville" themed dock is featured in one of the photos for this listing. Ask for an invitation to "Happy Hour" on the dock during your stay at their condo. If they are at the lake, your request will always be approved. It's always 5 O'Clock Somewhere at Smith Mountain Lake! Ken is semi-retired but still self-employed doing accounting and tax work. Peggy works for the Federal Courts' System.
