We loved this house. It felt like home the minute we walked in and we sure didn't want to leave when our stay was over. The house is so well stocked with everything that you need or may have not even realized you needed. We had a busy schedule while in Oregon City so I didn't get to enjoy the serenity of the house as much as I would have liked, so that means I can hardly wait to return. Our group loved the hot tub, BBQ and the game room in the basement. Family dinners were so fun at the large table. Lisa is amazing to work with. We will be back!

This home was the highlight of our week long vacation with my Mother, our kids & grandkids. We came to Oregon for my grandmothers 90th birthday party and stayed in the 1908 house for 3 nights, we all LOVED it! We didn't want to leave and will be returning soon for a longer stay. It's hard to even know where to start, everything was perfect! There was plenty of room for all 9 of us, we all had our own space and very comfortable bedrooms. We enjoyed the jacuzzi, the beautiful well manicured yard & fire pit, two claw foot tubs, games, beautiful antiques, the house was so perfect! The kitchen was stocked with so many extras, snacks, drinks, food. It was like you were staying in a friends home not a bare rental home. We stayed in 3 homes on this trip and this was by far our favorite!!!!! Thanks so much for everything!
Owner response:Laura Lee (and family) - thank you so much for the wonderful review. I really strive to make everyones visit "A home away from home" - and make it a mission to supply everything you will need to make your stay as absolutely as comfortable as possibly. It makes my heart sing when I hear that I accomplished that. Thank you again for your business and the great review. I do hope we see you again one day

Lisa - the owner - is an absolute pleasure to work with. The house is great - kids LOVED the video games (yes, even the girls!). I liked the neighborhood and that I could let kids walk to park (SMALL park but it has swings and a slide), Dairy Queen, Mike's, and a great Mexican restaurant. Enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, the basement shower was great.

Excellent rental, I would highly recommend this VRBO to anybody looking to experience the Portland area. Also, Lisa is very, very accomodating, and is one of the better landlords I've had. My party had an issue with the hot tub latch being broken before we got there, and there was confusion about whether we had broken it, but Lisa took our word that it was broken before we got there and returned our deposit in full, which we were VERY appreciative of. Thanks for a great stay!

Our family of 6 adults, and three children wanted to find a place in Portland to be together so we could cheer our son on during his Half-Ironman race. This house was perfect for that! We all had our own private bedrooms with plenty of space for the grandchildren to sleep near their parents. We enjoyed the outside patio, with its vined walls for privacy, in the evenings, as we reminisced about our fun that we had had that day. We we so happy with the basement, game room space. The two toddlers enjoyed all the toys available and the adults competed in pool and foosball. We took advantage of the large screen TV in the lovely living room space watching several of the huge selection of movie DVDs available. The backyard was a very fun place to relax watching the children play in the grass while we barbecued our meals. We were so happy with the large dining room which allowed all of us to eat together at the same time. There was even a high chair for us to use. Honestly, I have never rented a place with so many amenities and supplies galore!! There were all kinds of soaps, lotions, candles, kitchen utensils, DVDs, books, games, extra blankets, pillows, gorgeous dishes and stemware...I could go on and on. I was truly unbelievable!! The house was decorated in beautiful period-looking pieces that really complimented and house and the furniture was all so comfortable! Everyone thought their mattresses were very comfortable, as well. That is important to us, as we hate waking up with a backache from a bad mattress. The house was VERY clean. Many times I feel that I need to bleach everything in the kitchen, but did not feel that way at this place. It was impeccably clean! We really enjoyed where the house was located, too. It is right on an historical path that leads about a mile through historical homes in the neighborhood. You can set your phone to hear information about the houses during your walk. Just fabulous!! The neighbors were friendly and there was no excessive noise our entire stay. We would definitely stay at this roomy, beautiful house again! And I would recommend it to anyone desiring a place to rent in Portland.

We had a great stay at the house. Clean, comfortable, well-stocked kitchen made our stay feel like home. The game room was great - everything for kids and grown-up kids too! Especially liked the vintage Galaga full-size arcade game w/ no quarters required. The house is in Oregon City, and we took the bus about 45 min. back and forth to Portland. Lisa made it easy to rent and stay.

I rented this place for my wedding weekend. As we entered the house we were amazed to see how beautiful it looked. There were 14 of us and mostly everyone was from California. We all felt that we were at home and forgot about our daily life. At the end of the day it was peaceful to get to the house that feels like home and enjoy the movies, games and even sitting down talking and worshiping God (great environment for this). In addition, the house was very spacious that we (the bridal party) were able to practise dancing for my wedding. This place gave us what hotels couldn't give us. We enjoyed hot tub every single night of our stay and there was tons of towels to accommodate for the group. We also were able to enjoy evening walks in the neighbor hood. My friends still talk about this place and thinks it was the best vacation house they have ever stayed in. We had and left with greatest memories ever! The owner was very nice and loving person. She was always willing to accommodate according to our needs. I had some issues arise last minute and without any hesitation, she offered me a solution which was of my benefit. She is a great person to work with. An awesome and wonderful person! Thank you for all you help and generous support Lisa! I strongly recommend this place to any one who wants to feel "Home away from Home"!

Pros: Lots of beds. Well equipped and well stocked, nicely furnished (maybe too crowded with both toys and furniture). Lots of toys and games in basement. Bsmt refrigerator stocked with soft drinks for us, bottle of wine for us. Large dining room. Wonderful front patio over garage. Cons: It was way too hot in the house, unbearable most days and hot at night too (August). Only a few windows open, most are fixed. Upper floor has two bedrooms, no shower (tub only). Ceiling in basement was really low and the ceiling material appeared to be hanging sheets. Owner kept $100 of my damage deposit for mostly weak reasons that I felt were unjustified.
Owner response:Jery, I am so sorry you had some disappointment, we really strive to make sure everyone is VERY happy, It is unfortunate that you arrived during our HOT week, but am confused by your comment about windows, ALL rooms have windows that open and we have A/C in both upstairs bedrooms.

I chose to rent this place for my bachelor party weekend leading up to my wedding, and it was the best decision I have made in a long time. Everything about this house is absolutely perfect for any group of men, women, or children of any age. From the spacious rooms to the wide variety of beds, everyone in your group will sleep well and comfortably at this phenomenal house. As far as entertainment goes, this house may work against your plans to visit Portland, because there is so much to do in it that you'll never want to step outdoors! From the three televisions equipped with a vast array of channels to the hundreds and hundreds of videos and DVD's to choose from to the fast wireless internet and X-Box gaming system in the dream entertainment room in the basement, you'll be wishing that there were more hours in the day to spend inside this house. And then there is the outside of this heavenly location. Two gas barbecues for your grilling pleasure along with a spacious backyard with a vast assortment of comfortable lawn chairs and a roomy Jacuzzi. But that's not all! The owner of this house is every bit as loving and welcoming as the place itself, as you will have the highest honor and pleasure of working with her as she makes your visit worth every penny that you spend on your stay here. So if you're reading this and you are wondering where your group of around six people should stay for a weekend, look no further! Because to not stay at this place would be a serious mistake. Book now and get ready for an amazing stay filled with memories and great times that you will truly never forget. For my bachelor party group and I, I know we will never forget our stay and the priceless memories that we made in our time at this house. I can say with confidence that we are already looking for excuses to come back to Portland and rent this place again.
Owner response:WOW - Dillion, thank you. I should make you my new PR person. I am very pleased that 6 young men can enjoy the house as much as a family. Congratulations on your wedding.

Four friends and myself came to Portland for a convention and get together. We wanted a place where everyone could hang out between events and at night that didn't require going somewhere or crowding into a hotel room. So we rented the 1908 House. Between all the excess space and extra beds, we had people staying over every night and never got too crowded. Plus we had a surprise birthday party for someone which was great in that house. We plan to come to Portland again next year and hope the house is available. It was great having a fully stocked house for silly things you forget when packing (like a bandaid or something) This house had it all. BTW The king size bed upstairs (we nicknamed it the Sawyer bed because Josh Holloway from Lost stayed at the house) is to die for. We actually still talk about 'The Sawyer Bed' and how nothing else compares.

Four generations of our family stayed in "The 1908 House" for a long weekend and we had a wonderful time. When our grandchildren (7 and 3) saw the game room in the basement they were estatic...as were our 30+-year-old children. Competition between the game-players was rampant, and even our 3-year-old granddaughter had fun playing air hockey, My husband's 88-year-old mother had a little trouble navagating the steps, but with help she was right there with us wherever we went and enjoyed every minute of the weekend. The house is very well stocked with just about everything you could want, including equipment for babies and small children. The kitchen had not only the equipment we needed but also staples, which allowed us to cook all of our meals at home, so we were able to relax and enjoy each other for the entire weekend. This house allowed our family to be together yet provided everyone their own space; it was a little slice of heaven on earth. Thank you, Lisa. It was a joy working with you to make this weekend a reality.
Owner response:Karin, Bob and family - - thank you for the sparkling review. It was a pleasure to host such a wonderful family. Thank you for the heads up about the handrail - we went shopping for one today.

Family members who gathered from various points around the U.S. for a wedding were thrilled with the 1908 house -- it was truly a great gathering spot. The furnishings are elegant but comfortable. Little touches all around the house are testament to the love and devotion that has been invested in it. Anyone who has put in similar effort to have a home filled with antiques and vintage pieces can appreciate the effort evident here. But above all the best thing about the 1908 house is that it is truly a "home," a place to enjoy one another's company. Highly recommended!

Five women (all childhood friends) rented this home for four nights and wish we could have stayed a week or more!! The house was so warm and cozy and it was so totally stocked that we wanted for nothing!!! The owners were so nice and accomodating and made our stay there quite lovely. I would recommend this home to everyone who wants to feel at home when they aren't in their own home!!! We will definetly come back as we did not get to see all we wanted to see and do. The home was very clean, the pictures on the website were very accurate and it was centrally located for our needs. Their book of restuarants was wonderful and gave us alot to choose from. Thanks for our memories Lisa & Mike!!!!! The Girls!!!!

Thank-you Thanl-you Thank-you! Everything was perfect. You have thought of EVERYTHING to make anyone feel right aat home in "your" home! I had planned on unpacking and going straight to the store to pick up "necessities" - but you had everything we needed already here. The kids were so excited about the "stocked" fridge in the game room! We used the bon fire, the hot tub, and the game room! I couldn't believe you even had a GPS for us to use. (I could have left mine at home) We even had our family come out to visit one day - we were so proud to show off your beautiful home! We especially enjoyed sitting on the front deck in the sunshine. I was so lucky to find your house to rent. Thank you so much for sharing it with our family - I am SO happy we did not end up at a hotel! It was perfect!

Our family had a wonderful experience at the 1908 House. Lisa, the owner, was very helpful by email and phone in response to questions I had beforehand. Flowers and a bottle of wine welcomed us upon our arrival. The house was immaculate, beds were comfortable. The kids (and dads) loved the game room. The neighborhood was quiet. Nights were cool enough that we really enjoyed the hot tub. We'd stay there again and have recommended it to friends.

We loved the house! We were a party of 21 who traveled over for our daughter's wedding. Our daughter and her family of six slept in a nearby hotel, but joined us for a few hours for family activities. Being in a house together instead of separate hotel rooms really gave us family time & created many memories. The grandkids - and big kids - loved the game room in the basement. And we loved that it kept them happy and entertained. One son loves to go camping so his favorite thing was building a fire in the fire pit. He spent several hours just sitting out there one evening. Some of us joined him & enjoyed talking and making S'mores. They were delicious! Thanks for providing the ingredients. Several others loved the hot tub & made many visits there as possible. We spent about an hour watching part of an old family favorite movie on the BIG screen TV. A few sat around the dining room table and played Trivial Pursuit, provided with the house. One evening we all gathered in the large main room and had a family meeting where our oldest son shared the sad news they had just received that their baby, due in September, will only live a few days. Sitting in a hotel room for that experience just would not have been the same. We very much appreciated the homey setting. Our family's only regret was that we were so rushed with the wedding that we didn't have time to enjoy the home more, have a BBQ, explore the little neighborhood in the area, and just relax with movies, games, the fire pit, and the hot tub. We could tell the home has been lovingly cared for and furnished. There were so many small details that made it beautiful. Each window had beautiful curtains made from wonderful fabric with unique embellishments. Everything was fully stocked. We had plenty of towels and bedding. It was great having the kitchen. There was a whole book full of maps, places to visit, ideas for dining, etc. There was even a GPS system provided. We had plenty of sleeping room & never felt crowded. The only drawback would be for people who have trouble with stairs. There is a long flight of steep stairs to the two upstairs bedrooms & a bathroom. However, if a group is staying there those people could just stay on the main floor & wouldn't even have to go upstairs. There are two bedrooms & a bath on the main level. We would highly recommend this home to anyone visiting the Portland area. It helped us create a very memorable weekend

This was the perfect rental property for our family reunion to celebrate our son's graduation from Lewis and Clark College. His three siblings came as well and enjoyed the house and its amenities. We used the grill on our last night and always used the kitchen for a great breakfast before venturing out. Sorry to say we never had time to use the hot tub. The location was ideal for day trips to Silver Falls State Park, Pacific City with its sand dune and haystack, Lewis and Clark's campus and the Columbia River Gorge. The one son who came from Nashville which had been under a water use restriction due to flooding appreciated using the washer and dryer to have clean clothes. This was a great house to come back to after the day's adventures and connect with family...there was enough common space as well as separate spaces. We enjoyed the wine that was provided as well as all the other thoughtful touches.

This house was the perfect location for 10 "girls", ages 11-70 to come to celebrate one of us turning 50. We were close enough to sights, shopping, and restaurants, yet had a warm, cozy (as in comforting, not small!) home to come back to each evening. We loved our evenings gathered around the fireplace laughing and sharing stories, but also enjoyed the hot tub and games in the basement! Great decorating and welcoming touches throughout all three levels of the house.

Lisa, your home is fabulous. We met for a family reunion with three generations of our family. We could not have asked for a nicer home to spend our week, my parents had never stayed in a vacation rental home before and were a bit skeptical, by the time we left my mother wanted to buy the home and stay in Oregon. If you are considering renting this home, I can't say enough nice things about it, it is large, private, lovely furnishings, well stocked (there was a candy jar and popscicles for the kids - and supplies to make s'mores by the campfire) The yard was large and lovely, even enough space to put the kids at their own table. I would recommend this home without hesitation.

We had a wonderful time in your beautiful home. We have traveled extensively throughout the years and your home is without a doubt the BEST accomodations we have ever had. The attention to detail, including the well stocked cupboards, candy jar, wine, kitchen, games, books, basement "fun" room with its X-box, card table, bar, dart board, foosball, stereo, and tv were all just great touches to making a house a home. Oregon City was a pleasant surprise. We found plenty of close in places to eat, drink and visit. The short drive to Portland was quite "doable" as you stated it would be. Thank you again for working with us in accomodating our travel plans and setting the house up for our family. We're coming here again! Mike, Ann, and family.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay in the "1908" house! It was the perfect place to sit out a storm and read in front of the fireplace. You have shown great taste and consideration for families, couples, or anybody that wants a unique and refreshing stay while away from home. Portland is such a friendly place with so many things to do. Thanks for the suggestions and especially for the use of the GPS. We managed, and found it quite fun, to get lost just driving around and all we had to do was hit the "HOME" button to find our way back. Great idea programming all the fun things to do into the GPS. We are planning a trip back here in the summer and will look forward to another stay in this great period home. Thanks for everything. Michael V

This is an incredible house to stay in. It is a beautiful 1908 Craftsman in the historic district of Oregon City. Beautifully decorated and well maintained. Has a huge backyard for dogs. The owner obviously cares of her guests with lots of little extras in the rooms. Oregon City is right off of 205 so it was easy to get to all the places we needed to get to without being in the middle of Portland. We would stay here again without a doubt!

My family with 3 children stayed here while visiting family in Portland and we all loved it. My wife loved the very well stocked and large kitchen, the kids loved the private space in the basement with all the games and movies and we all loved the giant TV, the bonfire in the backyard and barbecue patio. Everything was very clean and nicely decorated and the host was very accommodating in letting us bring our "Westie", she even provide a dog bed for him. We will definately stay here again on our next visit.

Our trip was long and coming to the Portland area was a new adventure for our family. When we entered the "1908' house we were greeted to a wonderful and comfortable home that feels as if it were your own. There were flowers on the table, wine in the rack, snacks in the candy jar, firewood in the firepit and a personal greeting from the owner. The amenities in this home are unlike any we have ever seen. You can't help but be comfortable here. The linens are nice and the towells soft. The house is charming in every detail with its beautiful furniture and ornate woodwork. The basement playroom kept the kds busy all day and late into our evenings. There was a great selection of movies for all ages and the BIG tv was a bonus. We had 8 in our group and this house was set up to handle all of us. The back yard was a very nice place to have our evening campfire and a great place for the dog to play. The kitchen had everything you could want including spices and condiments that allowed us to cook in almost all of our meals. We will definately find our way back to Portland and this is where we will stay. This was a rare find. Oregon is a beautiful State!
