Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Pictured here at the Royal Victoria Marathon, Inga is an avid active outdoors person. She loves recreational running, cycling, kayaking, hiking, cross country skiing and playing tennis. Anything outdoors.
Inga also loves to travel and meet the people of the world and learn about their cultures and languages. She loves all animals--but especially "Elskin" a particular lynx point Siamese kitten.
Inga spent her early years in the health care field and raising family. And later in tourism, hospitality and international education.
Today, in a wonderful addition to this rewarding mix, she looks forward to meeting YOU. And sharing her enthusiasm for this beautiful Country, Province, Island, for Nanaimo, and for Stephenson's Point.
Is it Super Natural? YOU BET!
Why the Owner Chose Nanaimo
Inga landed here when her parents retired and her family relocated from Brrrr....WAY Northern Manitoba.....from a place NO ONE'S ever heard of. Trust me. ! Very blessed indeed she was to "land here", and grow up with Pipers Lagoon virtually in the back yard....riding horses on the Spit, picking oysters for the fry pan and wild blackberries for the pie shell...Sea Shells? Trees? Fruit? Flowers? Paradise. !! Good call Dad.
As a kid at Pipers, it was not uncommon to see the transient Killer Whales blowing by on their way through to feed and hang at Johnson's Bite, further up the Georgia Strait. The Pacific Biological Station, one of only a few of it's kind in the world, and located right at the end of the street would and still does, send out research zodiac's for the identification and study of the whale pods. The Scientist KNOW these whales. !
And in the old days--the first full moon in October? The Smelt would come in like clockwork to spawn right on the beaches. There was always lots to see. One amazing year, the herring spawned right in the flowing tide and right into the lagoon, scooped in hand nets right from the rocks....and only the kids knew. SO exciting. !!!
And so bit later.....with her own family, it just seemed a dream come true to design and build a family home nearby. And it was. And this became Stephenson's Point Guesthouse, just around the corner from the Lagoon--Pipers Lagoon, and Shack Island--another story.... Pretty special.
Because of it's Super Natural beauty, temperate Coastal climate, and central location on the Island (Gateway to the Pacific)....Nanaimo attracts millions of tourists annually--both national and international visitors. Nanaimo is also is a favorite destination for Canadians to retire--Nicknamed...."California of the North".
The Unique Benefits of this House
This area, and this property offer the epitome of SUPER NATURAL BRITISH COLUMBIA. And true WEST COAST LIVING. Beautiful. Natural. And Very West Coast. You will Love it here. !! And you are Welcome. !
Just now, this September while the Sockeye are arriving in record numbers in the Fraser River? Millions. The Pink Salmon are spawning right here by the thousands in the down town Nanaimo Millstone River estuary.
The river from this place curls into beautiful Bowen Park and through the lush East Wellington Valley along the base of Mount Benson. And this wonder is on display along the seawall right here downtown in Nanaimo--the Fishers in hip waders and from the rocks are lining the shores the last weeks pulling in fresh catch. !! Amazing!!!
PS. And if you come? Ask about the Northern Light show--from the Bluffs off the Spit.... in August....
