Our "lake front cabin" rental sits on "Lake Sam Rayburn" or as it is known 'Big Sam.' We are minutes from a boat ramp, parks and the city of Lufkin. It's an area with lots of history, "antique shops", "golf course" and the "best fishing." It's great for fishermen and families. We are "motorcycle" friendly!
You can listen to the sounds of the country while sipping tea on the deck overlooking the lake. Cast a fishing line and relax on the banks waiting for the fish to bite. Watch movies from the extensive movie library. Wander and explore the 6 acres of private grounds and enjoy the 600' of relaxing "lakefront." Lot’s to do or do nothing at all, we welcome you.

Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2008
Jennie is a native Houstonian. She has a son, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandson and granddaughter who are very excited to be involved in their Mom’s new life on the lake.
Jennie was raised on her Grandfather’s 100-acre tract of land in Northwest Houston along with 5 siblings, 8 aunts and uncles, and about 50 cousins. Many of her relatives still live on the same 100 acres. It is a unique setting. Even today it is like a little bit of country in the big city. But the serenity of the country is where she would rather be.
Steve comes from a military family. He has traveled all around the United States and abroad finally settling in Houston in 1977. His 2 sisters and brother live all around the United States. His Mom and Dad reside in Texas.
Steve was a professional drummer and vocalist from age 15 and has rubbed elbows with some of the greats of the 60’s & 70’s music scene over the years. Just like many young musicians, he dreamed of becoming a Rock star but, after many years, life would turn him in a different direction.
Nowadays, Jennie and Steve want to share their dream with you. Just enjoy God’s country that comes from the quiet beauty of Lake Sam Rayburn. We invite you to join us by the lake doing whatever makes you happy.

The cabin is located on a cove on the lake in a secluded area for privacy. It is quiet and peaceful for someone needing just to relax. There is fishing, boating, a gymnasium or just sit on our deck and do nothing. Beautiful roads for riding motorcycles.

We met our friends from Wimberely this past weekend for some relaxation and visiting. And did we ever relax. This is such a peaceful place. We stayed in the bed & breakfast. Steve and Jennie are so laid back, and just made us feel right at home. We left there feeling like friends, after having just met them. We will definitely do it again, probably in a few months.

We spent a weekend in the Fisherman's Cabin and it was an awesome experience. The location is quiet and property has a lot of beautiful trees, great green areas and a cute little pond. Owners Jennie and Steve really made us feel very welcomed. It's great to see them around the property doing their own thing, while we did ours and then stopped to chat for a minute here and there. Very comforting. My daughter loved all the little fish she caught in the small pond. Our son enjoyed his fishing experience with dad. If you want to really experience fishing out there, book a fishing guided trip with Mr. Snelson and you will not regret it. Guys were going for fish number 75 but didn't have time to go back out. Now that's a lot of fish. Our dogs enjoyed themselves with so much property open for them to run in. We will definitely be back and will definitely send friends that way.

Very relaxing and refreshing experience. Wonderful accommodations, over the top service. Jake's Leisurely Loft was a journey back to simpler times and the aroma of blueberry waffles and fresh coffee were a wake-up call easy to answer. Not to mention the banana bread always available to nibble on. Owners Steve and Jenny are great hosts and not only will I return but would recommend it as a place to re-connect with your inner strength and calm. As a matter of fact I have already recommended it to several friends. The beauty of the woods, lilies, birds and wildlife is breathtaking. God will bless all who visit. Thanks again, see ya soon!

My family stayed at the Big Red Cabin on Lake Sam Rayburn in July 2009. We had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful,and the cabin was very comfortable. The owners are extremely nice. We would love to go back again.

We stayed in the Big Red Cabin for a week this July. The accomadations were great and Steve and Jennie were very accomodating. We will be going back in October. I know the fish will be biting better. We got a lot of bites but no fish. Just being in the great company of the Kelly's and my family were enough though to make a memorable stay. If you enjoy the quietness of the Country and being able to see the stars at night this is a great getaway. My Granddaughter thinks there are very few stars in the sky because she lives in the city. She found out there were more than a few there. We were coming back to the Cabin from going to the store one of the afternoons and we saw a deer jump out in front of us, as we looked over in the field next to us there was a buck, two does and as my Granddaughter says Bambi. It was fantastic. Well worth the trip just for that.

We stayed a night in the Red Cabin after a close friend got married. (by the way she married there at the lakehouse) Steve and Jennie are wonderful people. They helped so much and were very tolerant of everyone after the wedding. It is a beautiful place owned by great people. I would love to go and stay a weekend just to relax!!! Definite thumbs up! I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get married or just spend a weekend relaxing!!!

We stayed in April for the McDonald's Big Bass Splash in '09, the only problem was there was no room for us in January when I called, but Steve and Jennie were working hard to get the Bunkhouse finished which was my only hope. Running out of time Jennie called and said if it's not finished y'all could sleep in my living room. We will make this work. Well the Bunkhouse was complete one week before the tournment. Our welcoming, accommodations and a new friendship was *****PRICELESS***** bottom line there are only two places I'll stay on Sam Rayburn Lakehouse is #1 now.
