If you are looking for a wonderful get-a-way, this cabin is fantastic. Upstairs offers a fully stocked kitchen, loveseat, gas fireplace, TV., Log queen bed, full bath and table w/ chairs for 4. Go out onto the oversized upper deck and enjoy the view of Mt. Yonah while cooking on the gas grill or sitting in our rockers. We also have a patio set on the deck. Heavily wooded lot with plenty of privacy. Downstairs offers a king size bed, large 36" TV., full bath, hot tub and pool table.
Keep in mind the many places to see and activities offered so close by. Visit Sautee Nacoochee and stop by the Old Sautee Store, built in 1873. The entrance is like a museum. Everything remains in the store as it was when it closed down in the early 1900's. More modern items and gifts available in the new addition in the back. Travel the Georgia Wine Hwy. Take in the Gold Rush town of Dahlonega with just about a 30 minute drive. Of course, Anna Ruby Falls and Unicoi State park are just a 10 miles drive or so to the North side of Helen. There are many water falls in the area including one called Dry Falls, just inside the N.C line. This one is unique in that you can walk behind the waterfall under the rock overhang. Beautiful site! Take time to visit Smithgall Woods and Tallulah Gorge and walk across the swing bridge. Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia. Beautiful!
We have provided a complete Picnic Pack for your convenience, located in the cabin. Take this along with you for the day and enjoy the beautiful sites that the North Georgia Mountains have to offer. Check out georgiatrails com for more suggestions of places to see. You'll want to return for many years to come, as many of our guest do.
If you would like, we can provide a nice bottle of wine from Sautee Nacoochee Vineyards and have it waiting in the cabin when you arrive. Cost is approximately $20 per bottle. We have the following available:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sautee White 2010 - Perfect blend of Chardonnay and Viognier, crisp, dry finish
Viognier 2009 - Fruity and clean with a fresh and striking aroma. The taste is dry and is enjoyable with a wide variety of foods or just on it's own.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 - A softer fruity Cabernet Sauvignon that is light to medium bodied and reminiscent of a Pinot Noir. Has a dry fruity feel with a crisp clean finish.
Red Headed Stepchild - Light fruity blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chambourcin that is delightfully sweet for your enjoyment.

Why the Owner Chose Helen
More, now than ever before, I really appreciate the cool nights in the N. Georgia Mtns and large shade trees. Not terribly far from Atlanta, but it feels worlds apart. It always makes us slow down a bit and just enjoy life when we travel to the area. Refreshing.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
While we are staying in our cabin, we always enjoy hiking up to Anna Ruby Falls and walk to the top. It's so close by and it's a great way to start our morning. Occasionally, we'll take day trips to Tallulah Falls and go on into N. Carolina to Dry Falls, Bridal Vail Falls and many more along the way. We are also close to Brasstown Bald and Clingman's Dome. There is just so much to visit and enjoy, you have to remember not to book your time too full, so you can just relax and enjoy the quiet times.
Owner's Map of Helen
We have been using VRBO for several years and have had so many wonderful guest. Unfortunately, we never actually meet in person so this may help you get to know us a little better. We have always enjoyed the peace and quiet of the mountains in North Georgia, Blue Ridge mountains and all areas surrounding. It's a great opportunity to get away from cell phones, computers and demands of everyday life and enjoy nature. There are so many wonderful waterfalls and picnic areas. It's a great opportunity to visit all of the wineries along the Georgia Wine Hwy as well. This seems to be a very special trip for families as children get to experience so much of nature in an unhurried time frame. We hope you enjoy your time here as much as we enjoy ours.

I would give this a horrible review just so no one else would go there.... but i can't. My wife and i had an amazing time at this cabin! The location is wonderful! We will definitely be coming back to this "Sweet Retreat !"
Owner response:Hey Johnathan, thank you so much! It's great to hear that your wife enjoyed her time there. I know this was your planning. Funny you say that about not recommending it; my husband and I always say that about new restaurants that we love. We want folks to know about it so they are successful, but we don't want them so busy that we have to wait! We'll look forward to your return.

My husband and I stayed during our Christmas break and it was wonderful! The cabin was beautiful and very clean. We loved how much room it had. It was a great get-a-way for us and was close enough to the town but far enough to feel secluded and private as well. We will be back! Thank you Patty!

My husband and I took our three children ages 9, 15 and 18 to this cabin for Thanksgiving. We greatly enjoyed our visit. We were able to enjoy lots of quality family time. We relaxed in the hot tub, plays several games of pool and enjoyed the view on the back deck. Lots of squirrels and several deer. Thank you very much.
Owner response:Hey Patricia, Thank you for the kind review. It's great to hear that even the young folks enjoyed themselves. It really is quality time together. I hope you all can return in the near future.

We went to this cabin for a weekend getaway and was very impressed! It was better than the pictures. A lot of thought went into the decoration of the place and it had lots of comfy extras like extra blankets, pillows, etc. It was a beautiful setting, especially in the fall. I was expecting scorpions at the very least, but saw no pests of any kind surprisingly! The hot tub was wonderful and we really hated to leave. The cabin was very clean and I will definitely be going back! The only problem I had was the driveways off the road - I pulled into the wrong one at first! Thank you so much for a much needed weekend in the mountains!

We just spent two wonderful days at the cabin for our 5th wedding anniversary. It was such a cozy, comfortable home away from home. The decor was in keeping with a mountain cabin, which I've found is not always the case in a vacation home. The owners have done a wonderful job of making everything comfortable, right down to the TV above the fireplace...which by the way...we found to have plenty of channels! It was very CLEAN and well maintained. When we had an issue trying to light the gas fireplace, Patty had someone there in 20 minutes to assist! We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Smithgall Forest, which we had never been to before and just happened to come upon on our way to one of the state parks. I would not highly recommend the town of Helen as it is extremely tacky and touristy, but the Sautee Nacoochee area is great for shopping. The Red Door is a great shop and there is a really interesting working mill that still grounds corn and sells the products located right across the street in that area. Oh.....and no critters in sight at the cabin!
Owner response:Thank you. I'm glad to hear about The Red Door, I've never been there myself. I'll make it a point to go. We will look forward to your return.

This was the most perfect weekend that we could have asked for thanks to the coziest little cabin. My husband and I had never taken a mountain getaway together before and I'm glad we chose the sweet retreat. The cabin was decorated just as we would do our own and had everything that we needed. The mountain views and colorful trees were amazing. We did some shopping in downtown Helen which was very close and visited the beautiful Anna Ruby Falls. We enjoyed this cabin so much that it gave us the idea of being able to have something like this, but until then we will continue to return to "sweet retreat."
Owner response:This is our goal! It always makes us feel great to get such positive feedback. We try very hard to provide everyone with a great get-a-way. Can't wait to have you return!

Our family enjoyed staying at this cabin! It was a much needed getaway for us, and we will never forget it, and would love to come back every year! The kids had a blast and my husband and I really connected. The cabin is beautifully decorated, you can tell alot of love went into preparing it. The view is great and it is close enough to tourists spots but secluded enough for privacy. There was plenty of room for my family of 4, and had all the neccessites we needed. We relaxed in the jacuzzi and had fun playing pool. I cant tell you how much it meant to us to be able to spend some good quality time together as a family! Thank you so much! The Beverly's

What a wonderful place to spend a few days! The cabin was absolutely perfect for us for the "mini vacation" we desired! It felt like an absolute luxury with it's comfortable beds, entertainment (pool table) and stunning views! The cabin itself is beautifully decorated and spotless in cleanliness. Helen was a only a few short minutes down the road so we were able to enjoy activities there and a day in Dalhonega as well! Thank you again for allowing us to stay here. It truly was a "Sweet Retreat"! Looking forward to a return visit and stay in the near future.
Owner response:Thank you Lindsey. It was so kind of you to take the time to give us a nice review.,with time being our most valued asset. We look forward to you returning.
