I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Salon. The apartment was very nicely furnished, very clean and well maintained. Little touches like the Aveda bathroom products and soft sheets & towels really make your stay comfortable. The location is about as good as you can get Boston. Centrally located in Beacon Hill, The Salon is a short walk to Boston Commons, Newbury Street, theaters, and restaurants. The owners are a wonderful couple who make you feel right at home. Enjoy a stay in here feeling like a Proper Bostonian.

The salon was the perfect getaway for us. We fell in love with the beautifully designed and maintained apartment and the location couldn't be better. The thoughtful, elegant touches made our first VRBO experience a winner. Would love to stay here again!

If you're looking only for a place to sleep this is not the place. However, if want a romantic pied-de-terre as you'd find in Paris, this is the place!! And you can walk everywhere from "Le Salon". Our favorite restaurant was "75 Chestnut St."(Beacon Hill). We had lunch and came back the same evening for dinner. Definitely a place for the locals. "Joe's American Bar & Grill (Back Bay, Newbury St.) has great burgers and glass enclosed front patio. South Boston has a Sunday Farmers Market - nice walk from Beacon Hill. Deb and Angus will have all this info. available for you when you arrive. They're a happy couple who are eager to help make your stay enjoyable.

My husband and I stayed at the salon during our first visit to Boston and the cozy space immediately felt like our little home in the big city. The location could not have been better and with an apartment rather than hotel room, we felt like true Bostonians for the week. The owners were awesome! So friendly and helpful, with great must see ideas for the city. I can't say enough good things about this little haven!

Do you realize that your contribution to the universe in Boston can have such a profound effect on those fortunate enough to reside there for just a short period of time? Thank you again for providing a retreat that not only makes for a wonderful, comfortable visit - but teaches us - inspires us - and gives us memories that come back when we need them, to aid in our life's decisions further down the road!

This was a wonderful place to stay. My son and I came to Boston to do everything "American Revolution." This was the perfect spot (in Beacon Hill) and close to everything. We so appreciated all of the extras Deb and Angus had for us in the salon. Breakfast foods, travel books, umbrellas, and wireless computer are just some to name a few. We were so comfortable in their space after touring all day. My teenage son loved staying in the loft. Deb was always available for us and was such a kind person with a wonderful spirit. The salon is small, but every square inch was utilized with everything we needed. We didn't feel like we were missing anything in the smaller space. The decor is gorgeous. It is very romantic and oh so comfy. It's the cutiest place to get into once you enter the building --going down a little hallway and up some stairs (just a few). The neighborhood is very safe and clean. Places to eat and Whole Foods are just around the corner. This place is a favorite among the places I've stayed--and I've stayed at many vrbo properties. I wouldn't stay here with small children. Things could get broken. You won't be disappointed spending some time here. angel and brennan from mississippi

We stayed in the Salon on Beacon Hill and it was WONDERFUL! Deb and Angus met us at the door with smiles and food for breakfast! (After taking the overnight train from DC, we needed both!) Our daughter was touring Suffolk Univ, which is walking distance, and it was the IDEAL place to stay for her to get an idea of the neighborhood. The Salon was cozy and had absolutely everything we needed. We walked all over Boston while we were there, and had pizza delivered one night, which was great. We felt like real Bostonians! We walked to great restaurants, Whole Foods, the liquor store....it's all right there! We will certainly stay at the Salon again when our daughter is in college!!

My husband & I stayed at the studio for 4 days & had a really wonderful time... The owners are just so lovely & made sure we were as comfortable as possible & had everything we needed before they left. We immediately unpacked our suitcases into the closet when we got there & from then on in were able to feel as though we were right at home. We cooked most of our meals in the sweetest little kitchen with all of the appliances & utensils we needed, went for walks through the absolutely luxurious/historical/beautiful neighborhood, found some great restaurants and shops just down the street, and spent evenings up on the rooftop garden patio. The studio is in sparkling condition & is so so cozy. We loved being there & would highly recommend this place for people who need a relaxing get-away but also would like to have fun things just around the corner whenever needed :)

Our hosts were beyond a doubt the most attentive we have ever met. It is obvious this charming little space has been a labor of love for them. We found everything we needed and more. From the moment you step in you feel at home, and truthfully, don't want to leave! Centrally located in Beacon Hill, gas lit streets, short walk to the river, and July 4th fireworks so close you feel you can touch them! Thanks Deb and Angus for making a dream come true!

We enjoyed our week in Boston ever so much, and it was such a pleasure to have a real home away from home to return to every day. This was my fourth visit to Boston and my favorite place to stay, hands down. The studio is well situated, just off Charles Street in Beacon Hill - very handy to the T line, great restaurants and within short walking distance of so many great Boston sights. Deb and Angus' "baby" is nothing short of exquisite - their transformation of this little studio into a gem is mindful of space, light and convenience. Their eye for detail is superb and every touch in the apartment was perfect for our stay. Everything you could possibly want is in the studio - it is fabulously clean, with luxurious touches (Frette bedding and a quiet Miele dishwasher), but also very practical. It was also a pleasure to meet Deb and Angus in person - they are wonderful souls, and we so appreciated finding others who have a concern for their surroundings and are so cognizant of their footstep in this world. It is a rare thing indeed.

The superlatives expressed in other comments are true. A relaxing oasis in charming Beacon Hill. Minutes from anything you could want. Red Line is a couple minutes walk. Great restaurants along Charles St. Cambridge St. is filled with about anything else you could want. We enjoyed just being in the Studio. The hosts are accommodating and accessible to you should you need anything. If you're considering this place along with any others, move this to the top of your list - as long as it's not when we are going to go back. :)

Dear Deb and Angus, We were once told that perfection is not of this world. This place is a direct contraindication to that adage. It is perfect! Petite, self-contained, exquisitely decorated, exuding charm and warmth. To all who follow we wish you the same shangri-la! Love Cate and Richard from Ottawa

Oh MY, where do I begin…? Your little apartment is utterly magical. I really didn’t want to leave … and I could be happy there for very long stretches of time, I fear ;-) It’s one of the quirkiest, loveliest and most charming little spots on the face of this earth. And it's imbibed with feelings of good cheer and warmth, you feel it immediately upon arrival, and at first I thought it was because so many of your personal things were blessing the place, and then I read thru the guestbook and I realized its really because there have been Sooo many guests who passed thru, felt the same, and left a little of their happiness & delight behind, you can feel ALL OF IT, can't you?;-) and we were there 2 days before we noticed that the place is entirely (and very cozily) heated thru ambient heat, passive solar and that charming little stove!! And as a returning Beacon Hill’er … it's just the fantasy Beacon Hill flat, couldn’t be more spot on if it were a movie set! Your design is genius – and I too am a fan of small spaces, in fact my hubby and I are in-process of renovating our house in Pasadena ( a 1500 sf 2BR cottage) and we fought the urge to rip it down and build a 2700 sf “new house” on the lot, and instead (emotionally) opted to do a gut rehab of the existing footprint, only adding about 150 sf by enclosing a patio, and keeping the original charm and whimsy of the house. (and when the bill comes in and it cost JUST AS MUCH to end up with a still-small-house … well we have tossed and turned on that one…) But now I feel oh-so-much better about that decision, as I know that DnA would approve (and now I think I need to hire you guys to consult on the interior finishes, because the level of creative detail in your BHill place is masterful!) So, lastly let me say that we must be kindred spirits, I found all my favorite books on your bookshelves, and my favorite music in your CD library. We enjoyed the Sarah Brightman, Carole King, Sondheim and Cole Porter tracts all week, and I had a cloistered afternoon on Friday by the fire rereading Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet … start to finish.
