Private Retreat on Martha's Vineyard

This three bedroom summer cottage is one of the few remaining authentic Vineyard "camps". It was built in the late 1930s and is on a former dairy farm which comprises hundreds of acres of spectacular land which has been protected by conservation easements due to its extraordinary beauty; Some is wooded, some cleared and it contains running streams and large ponds as well as trails and two piers on a mile of private beach facing Vineyard Sound. It is one of the most secluded and lovely spots that still exists on the Vineyard. The farm has been converted into a private corporation of year-round and summer residents.
> The cottage is situated down a sandy road at the furthest edge of the farm. It has been recently and thoughtfully re-modelled and exudes the history that has made it a beloved family house for generations. This is the perfect spot for anyone who loves nature (the windswept beech trees, seagrass, dunes, flocks of Canadian geese, Osprey...) and who appreciates a sense of history. Ideal for an artist or writer or a family who wants to "get away from it all". Perfect for a "romantic" week away. There is NO T.V.. It is on the water with access to the private beach (usually surf-free) via 75 yds. of wooded path. There are nearby piers for the kids to jump off or from which to fish, miles of trails to explore, croquet sets for the front lawn and tennis courts available (one is clay).

> The cabin is built around a dramatic (unfortunately not functioning) fieldstone fireplace in the livingroom. It has three bedrooms and an indoor bath with shower as well as an outside shower. One bedroom is equipped with a kingsize bed; the "bunkroom" has built-in bunks as well as a kingsize bed and the third bedroom has two built-in twin beds. A large outdoor deck has views of marvelous sunsets across the sound and over the Elizabeth Islands.
