Fall in love with Quail's Nest. This cozy 1 bedroom, 1 bath cottage is nestled in a locale, where all is within walking distance. Stroll 3 blocks to Carmel River Beach and watch the aqua tinted waves rip through the air and crash right in front of you, or maybe you prefer to sink your feet into the white sands of popular Carmel Beach. Take a healthy stride of just over half a mile to the village, which is sprinkled with many unique shops, restaurants to satisfy every palette, and let the art galleries draw you in, or admire the antiquities staged in the windows.

A brisk 2 block saunter can lead you to Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch. Get acquainted with the distinctive homes of Carmel by the Sea, while cycling up and down the streets, bicycles are provided at your disposal. These activities can bring on an appetite, so step into the remodeled kitchen and prepare a light snack or a feast, this kitchen is sure to handle whatever you bring.

It is occupied by new stainless steel appliances and maple cabinets. If you feel like just hanging out at the cottage, you are welcome to soak in a hot bubbly bath. New remodeled bath with travertine tiles. The bedroom is romantic with large king size bed, carpet and ceiling fan. The interior of this cottage is very inviting, decorated with French and Belgium antique furnishings, comfy leather library
chairs that add a homey feel, calming colors and print blend on the walls, and black and white photographs hang framed and hint of early Carmel.

Perhaps you would like to relax and lay in the hammock for an afternoon nap or just lounge and listen to birds perform a
musical tune, complimented by the light breezes whispering in your ear. The backyard is a serene atmosphere that is perfect for reading a good book under the Monterey Cypress trees that filer the sun’s ray. Weather a bit bitter. It may call for the fireplace to
be livened and spark some romance, or how about just spoiling in front of its warmth.

Don't forget to get in touch with nature by visiting Point Lobos, choose from several hikes and spot a deer with its fawn feeding on the lush greens, a red tailed hawk soaring above, or capture a quick glimpse of bob cat pouncing in play. Come visit the positive energy of Quail's Nest and invigorate your senses...you won't want to leave!

Could anything be more relaxing than this?

Guest: Peter and Caitlin (Long Beach, CA)
Date of Stay: 11/12/11 Review Submitted: 12/01/11

We had the privilege of staying at the Quail's Nest in November, 2011 - a very welcome escape for a couple with everyday schedules filled with work, kids, house, dog, etc. From arrival to departure, our stay was all about relaxing and re-charging - and the Quail's Nest is the perfect place for it. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the front porch, heated by early sun. Evenings were perfect in front of the fire place, talking, drinking wine, reading, and playing cards. We walked all over town from the cottage - to Mission Ranch for dinner, to the beach for just watching the dramatic scenery, to town for breakfast and shopping. The Quail's Nest is obviously owned by people who care for and love their property. It is very cozy and well decorated. Everything you need is there - and you immediately feel like home. We would love to be back!

An incredible getaway

Quail's Nest is a charming, cozy home with all the amenities one could need for a relaxing week near the ocean and village of Carmel. It was the perfect place for a week away with my wife. An easy walk to the beach made me happy while the style of the house and decor made my wife happy...she said it was like living in an Anthropologie catalog : ) We will be back for sure!

Quail's Nest was very cozy and warm and had everything we needed for a great get-away. The location in Carmel was wonderful, close to beaches and Ocean Ave. and was in a beautiful neighborhood to walk around. The owner had left great recommendations of places to go and things to do including a map of the area with grocery stores etc. marked. Don't miss hiking in Point Lobos State Park - it was one of the highlights of our trip.

The Quails Nest was excellent! What a great getaway! The two scrub jays were kick we enjoyed hand feeding them with peanuts, The nest was everything we imagined and much more, The deco was very quaint and inviting. Beautiful fireplace with two nice cozy chairs to sit in and enjoy a glass of wine while watching the flames. The backyard is spacious and a great place to enjoy the coastal air and sounds of nature. We also loved the short walks to the ocean to enjoy fabulous sunsets. We will certainly be back to the Quails Nest many times again to enjoy all it has to offer. Would recommend the Quails Nest for anyone wanting a romantic getaway.

Home away from home......

Guest: Katie and Nate (SLC, UT)
Date of Stay: 05/12/11 Review Submitted: 05/24/11

The Quail’s Nest exceeded our expectations again! We’ve stayed here multiple times before and are making plans to return very soon. Being minutes away (by foot) from the beach makes morning, afternoon, and evening ocean strolls ideal. Light-weight chairs and firewood are thoughtfully provided in the garage and make an evening at the beach an event in-and-of-itself. On day 3 our car broke down. Apparently the axel had been rubbing on the wires of the O2 sensor over the course of our drive from Salt Lake City to Carmel. Fortunately the death-blow electrical short in the wiring happened as we pulled out of the Quail’s Nest driveway. Passersby were helpful in attempting to (fruitlessly) diagnose the problem and get us pushed back into the driveway. It wasn’t a problem with us being so close to town. A fifteen minute walk to European style shops and bistros made having a car an option rather than a necessity (at least until we needed to get ourselves to Pfeiffer Beach [a must!]). The Quail’s Nest itself is ideal. It has recently been restored and decorated with a uniquely Carmel flare. The kitchen is well-equipped making dining-in or preparing food for the beach particularly convenient. Having recently cancelled our satellite television service at home we were jazzed to be able to record some favorite programming; the wireless internet also made work and communication easy (whether that’s a good thing or not is for you to decide). There was a stone patio and BBQ grill outside the back door that made for a great sitting area as well as an additional cooking option. Overall the Quail’s Nest is a gem and would serve us to be under-noticed. That said great spot and value given the uniqueness of Carmel and the surrounding area.

I have stayed at the Quail's Nest in Carmel several times and every time the place becomes more and more enchanting and amazing. The location is fantastic and is so peaceful and beautiful you don't ever want to leave. The accommodations are just as perfect as the home is and the great little surprises such as the blue jays greeting you in the morning as you make breakfast make you realize what a magical place you really are in. Whether you want to get away with that special someone or just get away with a friend, this is a must stay place! Don't miss the opportunity!!

From the moment of arrival to our unwanted departure it was...A SENSE OF A UTOPIAN WORLD

Guest: Karen (Long Beach)
Date of Stay: 05/18/11 Review Submitted: 05/19/11

My boyfriend & I decided to make our way to Quail's Nest. Storm clouds made their presence in the skies above, teasing w/ showers as we journeyed to our Carmel destination. We had reached Ocean Ave., where boutique shops, coffee houses & cozy restaurants huddle along Carmel-by-the-Sea's main road. Although the place showed evidence of rain, the bright & natural floral arrangements, along w/ incandescent lighting glowing through the cottages windows expressed a warm welcome. The avenue ended at a crowded parking lot, where we observed couples holding hands, dogs running free, kids laughing as they raced down a sandy hill & rows of waves taking turns to crash on the land before us. The clouds magically spread to expose the sun & all its glory. I turned to my boyfriend w/ excitement of what was to come, only to get an added bonus of beautiful rainbow behind him. We gazed at the dramatic sunset of reds & oranges that slowly seeped into pinks & purples. While there was still light, my boyfriend & I got back in our car & followed the ocean’s waterfront & a few blocks later we were in front of Quail’s Nest. The place has an adorable curb appeal & cottage feel. After we settled, we stepped out, onto the front porch & shared a warm hug, the hazy clouds drifted & obscured the full moonlit night. Although the moment was serene, the warmth inside drew us back in. We immediately felt at ease, the place is impeccably clean, intimate & shows character. We found the kitchen to be new & self-contained & the bathroom was roomy, w/ a deep tub. Dusk was always marked by temporary ribbits of a frog. The bed was very comfortable & the nights were quiet w/ a hint of ocean waves crashing. The mornings were accompanied w/ shy quails & friendly scrub jays -they can entertain you for hrs…peanuts are the trick! It was nice to lounge in front of the fireplace while reading a book. Taking walks to the beach, mission & ranch was very easygoing. The TV & internet worked great, the BBQ in the back was very clean, along w/ the hammock, bikes & beach chairs provided in the garage. The place was absolutely perfect for us. Point Lobos hikes in the early mornings proved to be special, as we witnessed new beginnings of sea otters & harbor seals w/ their newborns, unveiled ears of a bobcat racing through the tall grass to fetch its prey, deer meshed in w/ the landscape as they fed, bunnies swooped across our path into the thick lush landscape. Everything seemed to flourish all around us! Thanks

Perfect couples cottage

Guest: Big-O (Southern California)
Date of Stay: 06/05/09 Review Submitted: 05/19/11

I was recommended to this cottage by a friend and wasn't really sure what to expect. Being a city guy I'm used to the fast-paced hustle and bustle of the big city and was worried I would be bored out of my mind. I was PLEASANTLY surprised. This cottage offered a beautiful and relaxing experience that I didn't even realize I needed. The description and pictures are accurate and the cottage is very well kept, clean, and maintained. Linens and towels are provided which was very convenient. It is located within close proximity to the beaches and village. My girlfriend and I borrowed the bikes from the garage and went out biking for hours and just exploring the area. We went hiking in the beautiful Point Lobos State Reserve and enjoyed the breathtaking views and abundant wildlife. The village had a number of unique shops good for window shopping. While not out exploring the community it was nice to just relax and enjoy the amenities of the cottage. The back yard is lush with vegetation and a sort of oasis in its own. It's a great place to just RELAX and enjoy nature. There's also a front porch which is also nice to relax on. On the inside the kitchen is modern and fully furnished with appliances and utensils, just add food. The interior is comfortable with a plush carpet, ceiling fan, heater, fireplace, TV, internet, everything you need. There are even books and games to keep you relaxed and entertained. I have stayed twice and will definitely be back. If you are looking for the perfect couples getaway, look no further... you have found it!
