This home is truly one of a kind, offering ample and luxurious space for a large group or extended family, coupled with a perfect beachside location. An upscale and expansive home, every amenity, a beautiful wide sandy beach, stunning views, and endless nearby activities make for a vacation that you, your family and friends will always treasure. We will be accepting reservations for the summer of 2010 beginning early Sptember 2009. We also still have some prime fall weekends available for 2009.

Located between the charming villages of Northport and Omena on Michigan’s beautiful Leelanau Peninsula, this spacious and beautifully appointed upscale beach house is situated directly on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay, with almost 160 feet of private, wide sandy beach in a secluded wooded setting. Enjoy blissful days filled with sunning, swimming, boating, skiing, beachcombing, grilling, and spending true quality time with your family and friends. From the beach house, you will be treated to stunning sunrises over the water each morning and tranquil evenings where the colors of the sunset reflect off the bay.

The wooded, 2.13 acre lot provides a sense of pleasant seclusion, screened from neighbors on either side.

Constructed of stone and cedar, this expansive home has bright indoor spaces with large picture windows offering unobstructed views of the bay and "Gull Island." The two story living room is warmed by a natural stone fireplace. French doors off the entry hall open to a den with Satellite TV, a perfect place to unwind from the day's activities. The outdoor patios on the bayside, one with an electric retractable awning, provide additional living spaces for dining and relaxing.

The dining room facing the bay, which has floor to ceiling windows and bead board wainscoting, has a large farmhouse table that will seat 10 comfortably. Additional seating is available in the adjacent living room or on the patio directly accessible from the dining room. The charming kitchen, with custom bead board cabinets and top quality appliances, is fully equipped to prepare gourmet meals and serve all of your guests.

With five bedrooms and four baths, the home sleeps from 14 to 18 people in comfort, and is perfect for a large and/or extended family, or several smaller families. All the bedrooms are spacious and provide ample sleeping space without crowding. On the first floor there is a large master suite with gorgeous views of the bay, a sitting area, and a private entrance from the patio. A second bedroom on the first floor has a queen bed and its own bath. Upstairs are three bedrooms: one has a queen bed and another has a queen and two twins. These two bedrooms share a full bath. Finally, there is a huge upstairs suite with a private bath accessible from a back staircase with four twin beds -- perfect for the kids. If the beds are not enough to accommodate your party, there are two brand new sofa beds -- a full size in the den and a queen in the living room.

The home’s interior has been updated with all new furnishings and rugs, top quality brand new beds, fresh paint, new light fixtures, newly-tiled baths and laundry room, updated bath cabinetry and hardware, and maple flooring throughout. The home is elegantly but casually and cheerfully decorated, and fully equipped with all of the comforts of home, including a large collection of books, games and videos for all ages.

The beach house opens onto a beautiful wide sandy beach, complete with a dock, boat hoist and swimming ladder. With a gradual slope, crystal clear water, and areas of sandy bottom, the beach is an ideal place for children to safely enjoy the beach and lake. Only a strip of lawn -- perfect for croquet or horseshoes -- separates the house from the beach. No climbing down dunes or stairs or navigating winding paths. Beach chairs, beach towels, toys and kayaks for exploring the bay are provided. The sandy cove invites long strolls in search of Petoskey Stones and other treasures. The home is on a cove in Grand Traverse Bay, with calmer waters, making it perfect for small craft boating and skiing. After a day at the beach, take advantage of the newly added outdoor shower, or lounge in the hammock beneath the shade of the trees in the yard. In the evening, enjoy the colors of the sunset reflecting off the waters of the bay and gather round a beach fire (we have a large, stone-surrounded fire pit on the beach).

The fantastic "Up North" experience does not end with summer. Enjoy spectacular foliage, biking, golfing, hiking and winery tours while while making this beautiful beach house your home base at color season rates. Fall and winter weekend stays, as well as holiday weeks, are also available. Family friendly downhill and cross-country skiing are just a half an hour away.

  • In planning my wifes 40th birthday surprise party, I was looking for a house that condusive to entertaining eight couples. We needed a general common area for the group to be together as well as enough private space for personal comfort. The Beach House appeared to fit the bill online. However, it was not until we arrived did I realize the house exceeded my expectations. Walking thru the front door we immediately felt at home. My wife felt as though she had just stepped into a Pottery Barn or LLBean catalog. The house layout was perfect for the group. We never had the feeling of a cramped space. Holly made the reservation process extremely simple and I felt well informed through-out the entire rental process. I'd highly recommend the Beach House. My wife and I will be watching for an oportunity to rent the Beach House again during the summer, so we can take advantage of the beautiful beach.

  • Recently, eight couples enjoyed this perfectly lovely home for an annual getaway wine tour. It was absolutly wonderful to enjoy each other's company in such an impeccably decorated home. Holly has given so much attention to detail that the warm atmosphere kept us from wanting to venture out to see the sights we've always loved. Being right there on the bay has even made some of us want to possibly return for a summertime retreat and enjoy all the ammenities with our familys.   • This is a gorgeous home in an ideal location. Our family stayed for a long weekend to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday and this vacation went down as one of the best yet. We hoped to take in the local sights but once we settled in there was no reason to leave. The home was well stocked with everything you would ever need on a vacation.   • This was a fabulous large home we rented this Summer for week-long vacation. With its private beach and serene surroudings, we experienced our best vacation so far. The wineries and the sceinic area in Suttons Bay is a perfect spot for relaxing and escape from our busy lives. It was surprise to see that the house had everything you can imagine.   • The Bayshore Beach House was the perfect setting for our extended family gathering! The house itself fit the eight adults and four children quite comfortably. The local decor added charm to the house, and each room had its own character. Many wonderful memories were made during our week here--from games of Twister in the living room to nightly fires on the beach to kayak trips to "Skull" Island as our 9-year-old twins affectionately dubbed it. Northport (and the surrounding area) is such a serene, peaceful, and stunning corner of the country--we can't wait to return again next year! Thank you opening you lovely home to us!

  • As regulars to the Northport area we were delighted to discover the Grand Traverse Bay. The calmness of the waters relative to Lake Michigan is great for those worried for small children. The remoteness of the setting makes this house ideal for intimate family and friend gatherings. The house is beautifully furnished and yet still cheerful and very hospitable for families.   • The most incredible vacation home we ever stayed in! Impeccably decorated and loaded with charm, we couldn't have asked for anything more. There were 10 adults and 6 children (10 mos to 4 1/2 yrs) and we had plenty of room to play and places to go for alone time too. Just bring your clothes!!   • We've recently returned form a 2-week stay in this beautiful home and cannot rave enough about it. The house sits on a lovely private beach overlooking the Bay, perfect for swimming and boating. Our children enjoyed playing in the yard in the afternoon and having bonfires in the evenings. The owners have decorated with beautiful furnishings, and no detail has been overlooked, from the games and DVDs in the den to the firewood and beach toys outside. We were able to prepare elaborate meals in the well-appointed kitchen. Thanks for sharing your great home with us. We look forward to visiting Northport again in years to come.
