I could best describe my experience by saying my wife and I want to go again and again and again. Pictures just do not do this condo justice. It's a beautiful and convenient location and so well maintained. I've know Larry and Judy for a long time so the fact that everything was immaculate did not surprise us at all. A "plus" that cannot be described in any literature was the chance for us to meet and "hang" with others who were there at the same time. Chats by the pool and while using the community internet in the office. Just plain good people. And kudos for the overall decor of the place -- the art, great lighting and more than ample laundry space. They've gone the extra mile and we certainly appreciated it! Aloha and we'll see you right back here in the future.

We stayed here for a week in October and had a blast. The Condo is just a few minutes from what was my favorite beach, minutes from my favorite sushi place, and shopping! The condo was clean and beautiful and had all the things we needed to cook dinner, do laundry, dishes, etc. We will always stay here whenever we come to Maui :)

It is a good thing I am old and forgetful or there wouldn't be space enough for my review! My wife and I had a wonderful experience on our first, but not last visit to this Paradise Island! I wish I had taken better notes when I asked Larry about things to do and places to see. Then again if I had, we would have had to spend an extra month to get it all in. We had a Great time and the Condo location made easy access to everywhere we visited. The Condo met our needs entirely! It was just right! Very convenient, clean, comfortable and just enough out of the way to not have any crowds to deal with. Did I mention the beach just across the street? It was fantantic too! This location is also near numerous beaches, all fantastic! We had a great time! It really was a paradise experience! Thanks Larry and Judy. We hope to return soon! You were great hosts!

My wife and daughters stayed here Sept 8th through Sept 21st, 2011 and, although we loved being in Maui, our stay at this condo was very disappointing. Kama'ole Sands itself is pretty (if you stay in a condo with a view of the central garden, which this one has) and nicely located in south Kihei. Beware, however, that this particular condo has only a small, noisy, inefficient wall unit A/C that is set on a 1 hour timer. The owner states that opening the condo up to the trade winds is sufficient for cooling. Maui's common weather pattern is for brisk trade winds IN THE AFTERNOON. Once the winds die down, A/C is needed for cooling, especially at night to sleep comfortably. The small wall unit A/C is on the opposite side of the condo, NEVER cooling the master bedroom (and. because it is set on a 1 hour timer, does a poor job cooling the living room). In an attempt to cool the master, you fill be required to open up all of the windows and shades which, regrettably, puts you in FULL VIEW of anyone using the 3rd and 4th floor walkways!! We were also very disappointed that construction work was being done the entire time we were there, not in the next block (unit 2) as stated by the owner, but in the unit directly diagonal from ours in unit 1!! This made the use of the lanai impossible as construction workers were right next to you! I would have rated this condo a one star, but having my family with me always makes things better than poor. There are many places to choose from in south Maui. I will not be staying at this particular location again.
Owner response:As owners receiving our first review of less than five stars we would like to respond with the following pertinent facts. 1. All guests are encouraged to contact us before and during their visit of any concerns. This guest did not. 2. This guest was made aware months in advance that their visit would coincide with the complexes fall repairs. A discounted rate was offered and accepted. We would encourage potential guests to read all reviews.

My wife and I spent 10 days at this Condo in June 2011. We loved every thing about the vacation. Condo is in a great location - across the street from nice beaches that were never crowded and have great snorkling in the morning. Enjoyed playing Tennis and relaxing by the pool and hot tub. Love this location as it was close to any where on the island. We took trips to Lahaina, and Pa'ia during the week and really enjoyed the trip to Hana ( we chose to have someone else drive) I got to take pictures and my wife did not have to worry about my driving :-). It was great that we could get to most places on the island with ease. The condo was very clean, and it was great having a kitchen. Eating breakfast ( including fresh pineapple ) on the Lanai overlooking the well kept grounds , fountians and ocean was a nice way to start the day. I really enjoyed the collection of Hawaiin music CDs and my favorite DVD was "Step into Liquid" an awesome DVD on Surfing. The staff and the condo complex was helpful and if your want to plan excursions the stafff by the pool was very helpful when we were deciding what to do. The most recent copy of "Maui Revealed" was on the table when we arrived. This book was very helpful for us as it was our first time in Maui. It's the little things that add up to making a vacation a great experience and this condo and it's owners pay attention to detail and provide all that you will need to make it feel more like a home then a vacation rental. Would we stay there again ? Absolutely !!!!
Owner response:As owners it is our goal to have every guest come away feeling the way these folks did. Since we purchased our Hawaiian Home in 2002 our number one priority has been to establish relationships with our guests and it has been a great experience as we have become good friends with many.

This Condo was just wonderful. My husband and I stayed here in August of 2010. It met all of our needs and the pictures were accurate to the description. I usually stay in Napili however I think we found a new spot. The owners friendly to work with and very prompt with all information needed to stay here. Can't wait to return.
Owner response:As owners, we do our best to accurately portray our Hawaiian Home. Since we purchased our Kamaole Sands unit in 2002 our goal has always been to establish relationships with our guests. It's much easier to keep our Hawaiian Home rented when guests return again and again.

My wife books most of our Maui trips thru VRBO. We loved Larry's suite! It was really quiet, well maintained, clean and has internet connection so I could report back to my kids how the trip was going, all live on webcam. Everything is there, water toys, a very nice neighbour who resides year round. Any information you need Larry and his wife will get to you. Its a safe website, all properties are legit. The beach is right across the street from the property, easy pickup at the street for tour vans etc..the suite has comfortable beds and Murphy bed,..slept like a baby! I highly recommend this suite and we plan on returning the next visit to beautiful Maui~! Mahalo, The Jones's, Vancouver area
Owner response:It's always nice to hear that our guests have had such a great trip and that our condo was a nice part of it. I want to update that due to the advanced ages of our neighbors they have moved in with family and no longer live next door. We all enjoyed their good natured spirits and smiling faces and wish them well.

We have for years rented VRBO units around the country. This is our favorite. We spent a month in 2009 and plan to return next year. The complex is beautiful and very well maintained as is the condo. It is a pleasure to deal with the owner, who maintains a high standard. Best of all is the location. Short walk to a gorgeous beach and beach park, short walk to restaurants and shopping, miles of walking along the beaches. Excellent grilling facility around the corner and a large and pleasant pool area with shade available. What more could you want for a a wonderful Hawaiian vacation!

We had a truly enjoyable vacation in this unit. Everything the owner says about it is true, except that the view from the lanai is even more spectacular than in the pictures. The fountains were exquisite, as were the entire grounds. The unit is well situated, close to everything -- plus it is clean and very, very comfortable. We look forward to staying here again.

This is a fabulous condo. Across the street from the beach with wonderful views. We stayed here with our two children for 10 days in July 2007. We never ran out of things to do. Everything is near by. We liked the fact that Kihei is away from the tourist areas of the west side of Maui (Lahaina). We absolutely loved it. The condo is beautiful, clean. The owner is very accommodating. We will probably be back this year.

WE stayed in this unit in April and had a great time. parking spot is close to the elevator. Easy access to beach. owner is very accomadating. Even though the buildings in Kamaole Sands are old, this unit has been nicely updated. Murphy bed in living room is comfortable. Nice crosswinds make A/C unnecessay at nights but if you want to use it, works well. Unit is well stocked with essentials like detergents, towels, beach accessories.
Owner response:Just wanted to mention that Kamaole Sands was built in the early 1980's but has incrediblly high standards regarding maintenance. Buildings are block construction (great for sound) only four stories high, have elevator access and each owner pays on average over $500.00 per month towards maintaining the property.

I would like to thank Larry and Judy for a wonderful stay in their beautiful condo. I went to Hawaii for the first time with my daughter and son in law. The condo was far more than I had anticipated. I stayed in the Murphy Bed, and found it delightful and comfortable. Maui is such a beautiful island I would love to return, and if I do I definately would love to return to the condo. Thanks again for adding to the memory of a lifetime.

Thank you for a most enjoyable vacation. Larry and Judy have done a wonderful job with this condo. We have visited Maui five times in the past and have stayed at Kamaole Sands three of these times. We love the location and the property in general. This is by far the nicest unit that we have stayed in. It is decorated very nicely and well equipped with everything you will need for your stay. We will most definitely be back! Thanks for everything

My wife and I stayed here for a week and it wasn't nearly long enough. The condo is beautiful, the location is perfect, and the neighbors were more like family than friends to us. I recommend this condo to our friends, but not to strangers (I don't want strangers filling up the calendar before our next trip out!). We look forward to staying there again soon.

As you can see by my e-mail, we really enjoy our Maui visits. We typically stayed the usual 2 weeks;then increased to 3 and 4 weeks. We have visited Maui about 20 times and have stayed in several different complexes and units. Our favorite over the years has been the Kam Sands complex. The last three visits have all been in this unit of Kam Sands. We have never met the owner except by phone so my comments are not driven by salesmanship. What the owner has penned as the info to his condo is as close to the actual fact as it gets. It is as neat as it sounds. The owner is very good to deal with and if you do rent this unit, treat it like you own it and it'll be every bit the Hawaain get-a-way you dreamed of!

Great location. This was my first trip to Maui. If you enjoy having breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a snack with a view, it's perfect. If you like hanging out pool side or walking across the street to the beach, it's great. Just a short drive to shopping and many fun activities. The Condo was well kept and comfortable if you just want to relax and enjoy a wonderful Hawaiian sunset. I would highly recommend it.....

My wife and I have been to Hawaii over 10 times. We decided to try Maui for the first time 2 years ago. The condo worked our perfect as a great relaxing beach was just a few feet accross the street. The condo was spacious and my then 10 year old loved the "Murphy Bed". Even the condo's pool was great to take a break from the ocean for a little while. I am staying in the condo again in April. We can't wait... Aloha!!

This was my first time staying in a condo and it was absolutely a great place to stay while on the island of Maui. The condo was beautifully decorated and had numerous amentities that you would find at home.Plus having a washer and dryer along with a full kitchen is great. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. It was almost like living on golf course grounds. The pool area was fantastic. It has a large pool( not crowded)with a hot tub. I really enjoyed the free mararita party on Thursday afternoon. The grounds had tennis courts, and gas BBQ's.The condo was right across the street from the beach. There is plenty of shopping and resturants within minutes of the condo.Another favorite was the Lanai, great views and a great place to relax.Overall this is a great central location with amentities that really make you feel right at home. We're already planning a return visit for our 20th anniversity. I highly recommend this place to stay!
