Excellent location if your main focus is VOLCANO, 5 minutes drive to the volcano national park. Quiet and dark (which is what we preferred!) neighborhood. The house is very spacious for a party of 4, a lux! Greg responded quickly to my questions/requests during our stay. He even went to guide me how to get a rental car deal and best place for grocery shopping while we were planning the trip. We found some grocery items left by previous renters in the kitchen. Very thoughtful! A sense of community! I'd rather them to be used than tossed out just because they are open. However, wish they had sorted out time to time. My son went thru all open items, checked expire dates and ended up taking a lot of them out. He emptied them, rinsed jars/bottles and put into recycles. All in all, we had a good time staying this house. Highly recommended!

My family rented this house in November and had a great stay. It was located close to Volcano National Park, so we were easily able to visit the park both during the day as well as after it got dark. It was also about a 30 min drive from Hilo, where we picked up our groceries before arriving at the house. The photos of the house were very accurate, and we found the house to be in very good condition-the kitchen was very well equipped with pots, pans, and utensils, and everything was very clean. It was a very spacious house, and a large family or group could comfortably stay there. I found it very easy to correspond with Greg via e-mail, and then through texts while we were there. We would definitely recommend this property! Thank you!

This house was very spacious, clean and well-equipped. We had a very comfortable stay here and it was an ideal base for exploring Volcano National Park. Greg, the owner, was easy to deal with and always quick to respond to questions by email or phone.

Recommended for:Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We were concerned about booking online with someoe we were not familiar with but Greg was great. His communication is the best I have ever experienced. We were booking for the purpose of a wedding but the Groom received a job offer he couldn't turn down even though it meant our trip would have to be delayed. I sent Greg an email cancelling and within 48 hours our refund was back in our bank - unbelievable service. My arrival date given is not correct since we actually cancelled but a date was required.

Our family was completely satisfied with the accomodations at the Volcano home. It was very well maintained and has all the updated appliances that anyone would need. The location was excellent for our trip to the volcanos, the weather was perfect. It was hot and humid in Hilo town, but the volcano home was nice and cool. Greg & Cindy do an excellent job in maintaining and communicating with their guest. Thanks you.

We had a great time at Volcano Forest Escape. It was very close to the Volcano park and had all the amenties of home. Our kids loved all the channels on the TV, especially when we came back from hiking all day in the rain!

Lovely house, very nicely appointed. Quiet, verdant part of the world. Loved seeing random pheasants and hiking in nearby Volcano Nat'l Park. My family and I had a lovely time. Thanks, Greg!

The volcano forest property was amazing. We arrived at night to the soothing sound of the rain hitting the forest around the house. The house has more than enough rooms and spaces were great for a girls sleep over versus a master bedroom by the front door for a more private couple. Since we were a group of friends sight seeing after a wedding this house suited us perfectly. The kitchen met our needs and there was even a super nintendo which brought back great memories to many of us! The best part was a super short drive to Volcano National Park! Just one word of advice...Buy your food and supplies in Hilo before heading up to the house.

Thank you for opening this house to us. We enjoyed cooking, the fireplace, super Nintendo, and cable TV. The fireplace was amazing in drying us up after walking 4hrs. in the rain at Volcano, lava rocks/tubes, petroglyphs. Your hospitality and generosity really made are experience on Hawaii Island really amazing. God Bless

We had a short stay, 1/28-2/2, but made the most of our time on this side of the island. Don't miss out on the ATV "Ride the Rim" the best time ever, then ride horseback at Parker Ranch. Walked out at night on the Lava Flow at Kalapana. The Volcano Park was the best views. We did the 4 mile walk to the bottom of the volcano and looked up Amazing. This is Paradise, we stayed a week and a half in Kona and we prefered Hilo. Thank You, Bruce & Virginia

Our family went there over Christmas, and despite the drenching & unrelenting rain, the visit still gives us fond memeories. The house was clean and very cozy. The woodburning fireplace made the whole trip. We roasted marshmellows & taro from the island. It felt like a New England x-mas. We had uninterrupted family time with the boardgames and children's books there. So no matter the weather, the house lends itself to having a wonderful family visit. Thank you Greg for sharing your beautiful home.

This house Rocks! I totally love the high chair dinning area(very sociable). The energy in Volcano is so relaxing & kick back. You can't have any bad feelings when you leave here. We had a family reunion at Wailoa State Park! Very Memorable!!!

Volcano is misty, cool, and enchanting. This was a great getaway from the Honolulu congestion. The house was beautiful and close to everything in the town of Volcano. This was the perfect place for a few friends to escape for the weekend.

the house was amazing! better than any hotel in hilo! it was so wonderful to be in the "chilly" volcano area with a wood burning stove! i had two friends born on the mainland with me and they were saying how much this house reminded them of when they grew up, like they'd no other need to go home for christmas, it feels so much like the mainland! i would suggest this house to anyone...the only thing i would LOVE to see is a hot tub, but that may just be the romantic/athlete (we did the volcano wilderness run, 10 mile) in me...
