Why the Owner Chose Wrightsville Beach

We worked down in Wrightsville in the film business in the 90's, rented the house and when it went on the market, we loved it so much we bought it.

The Unique Benefits at this House

total relaxation. The deck is perfect for sitting and watching the ocean with a glass of wine and a good book. The semi-private walk to the beach from the deck is shared by only ten houses and has no access from the street. Therefore the beach is almost totally empty in front of our house. We can drive up to the Mayfair shopping center three miles away for some great restaurants, shopping and movies, or stay on the island and eat at local fish places like the bridgetender, the fish house, the oceanic, or the waterside: All with great views of the intracoastal or the ocean.

A
quiet beach, almost private

There is very little public access, and no public street parking. Only 8 houses share the path to the beach, So the beach is not busy, ever.

B
off street parking is plentiful

10 plus cars in the driveway, two under car port

C
unobstructed view

all houses is this development are set at an angle so that no one blocks the view of the house behind it.

D
large grassy lawn and garden

bring a volleyball net or croquet set to play on the lawn

E
studio tours

Call the studios in wilmington to tour the sets of current movie and tv series, like "One tree Hill". See the famous courthouse steps from "Matlock " with andy griffiths, in downtown wilmington.

F
tour ussnorth carolina

Drive into downtown wilmington and tour the ussnorth carolina, then take a horse drawn carriage ride around the old main streets and see pre-civil war homes.

G
easy walk to loop walk around salt marsh

Everyone in town uses "the loop" to get exercise. It's a short , one mile drive to the beginning and/or parking at the historic museum of old beach cottages. Tour the old cottage and get a sense of the life of wrightsville beach in 1912, when everyone came from wilmington by trolley car, to swim and then dance the night away at one of two grand hotels.

H
oleander drive amusement for kids

A short ride away on oleander drive, heading left you'll come to Jungle land, amusement park with water rides, go carts and miniture golf.

I
cape fisher civil war museum

take a tour of the ramparts, and see artifacts inside the civil war museum near carolina beach

J
mayfair shopping center

three miles away on military cutoff rd (to the right) there is the mayfair shopping center with 15 restaurants, movie theater and great shopping. Wonderful markets like fresh fields, and harris tweeter. Check out Boomballati's home made ice cream across the street from Mayfair center for home made flavors you won't beleive.

K
Lumina shopping center

Just after the drawbridge, check out lumina shopping center on the left. Dress stores, jewlery, book store, west marine. Try New Jersey mike subs, or get something to prepare for dinner at harris tweeter market, with their great wine selection.

L
causeway cafe for breakfast

The locals go to the causeway cafe for breakfast. Just to the left of the drawbridge before you leave the island. Also try roberts market on lumina ave for great chicken salad, a newspaper or that quart of milk you need.

M
fresh seafood at atlantic marine

Get the freshest seafood to take home and prepare at atlantic marine, right behind redix as you enter the island. Choose fresh caught tuna or blue fish as its displayed on ice right off the boats. Huge jars of fresh oysters for sale too.

N
redix shopping

Dont miss the redix experience, right past the drawbridge on the right as you enter the island. One half of the store has everything you forgot to bring, and the little gifts you need to take home. The other half has the most complete selection of clothing and shoes with all the brands women and men love. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance!

Owner's Map of Wrightsville Beach

My husband and I bought the house in 1993 while he was working on The Hudsucker Proxy for the Coen Brother's, at the studio in Wimington. We since have spent many a great summer here with our family and friends. We've watched the Wrightsville Beach area grow up into an upscale area with great restaurants, shopping, culture and nightlife but still maintain it's roots as an old fashioned family beach town. We live in Pennsylvania but get to Wrightsville Beach as often as possible. We have two children that spent their summers at the beach and now that they are grown they come back every year with their friends. And soon their children will enjoy the same ocean with the perfect temperature. perfect waves for body surfing, kayaking or longboarding.

I can't begin to express how pleased I was with the location of your home. Plus, it truly has been a pleasure dealing with you Beverly. Your friendliness and helpfulness have been fantastic. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We usually stay in an oceanfront house, but yours was even more convenient and closer to the beach, with an unobstructed fantastic view and no steep steps to deal with to get down to the beach. . Everyone loved the layout of the house, private rooms, cute decorations and a big kitchen with lots of stools and seating for hanging out. I'm looking for an excuse to head up that way again sometime next year...and you know where I would like to stay!!

We had my daughters graduation party here from UNC wilmington. All 18 of us were very comfortable. All the bedrooms have TVs, with nice linens and pictures on the wall. The kitchen had everything we needed with lots of seating space at the big dining table. The beach was perfect with hardly anyone else on it. We all had a boccie ball game on the beach the first night. The kids had a volleyball set and played on the yard at the house, while the adults watched from the deck. It was close to the college campus and an easy drive to shops and a movie theater. We all took a tour of the USSNorth Carolina the next day and walked around downtown Wilmington. The last day we rode on the Henrietta 2, up the cape fear river, and ate at a great downtown seafood restaurant. We all hope to be back to this area and this house in the future. Thanks to the owners, Beverly and Graham, for making it so comfortable.

My daughter got married in Wrightsville and we used this house for the overflow. It was perfect for out of town relatives and large enough to hold a rehearsal dinner the night before for 20. The weather was great and it turned out to be a perfect place to relax the day after the festivities. The owner was nice and easy to connect with when I had questions. The place was set up with glasses and plates, pots and pans. The decks were the place to be on our last day, with the empty beach only seconds away.

We stayed at this great house for a ladies getaway. We all had private rooms and plenty of space to move around. The bedrooms were all decorated nicely with fresh paint and cute touches. We went shopping nearby at Mayfair shopping center and had choices of every restaurant imaginable. The Mayfair also had a great theater. The house has cable on demand and two nights we drank cosmos and just stayed there. After the great sunset from the upper deck and yet another walk on the beach we watched some chick flicks. We took a horse drawn carriage ride in downtown wilmington, where we learned all the civil war facts of the town and beautiful old antebellum homes. The owners were easy to deal with and had some good suggestions on local food places. " Bluewater" on the bridge has great views of the boats and good seafood. " The bridgetender" across from it was more casual with great softshell crab po-boys and beer. Don't miss Redix for incredible selections of designer clothing ( Don't be fooled by the outside...it's got a great selection).

We love this beach house. This was our fourth year there. We had 18 of our family there for my wedding. After the ceremony at the Oceanic pier we all came back and sat on the deck with all our friends and family. It was very special. The weather was warm and we watched the dolphins every morning. We all went fishing as usual and used our kayaks each morning. The beach is right outside the door and is always empty. The outside shower is great and the house had everything we needed. Beverly was easy to reach whenever we had questions. She helped with questions about arrangements for restaurants and linens when we had some last minute changes. We hope to come back every year.

This was our second year at 6 Cowrie Lane. The house is perfect for large families or corporate groups. We had our 18 member foundation meetings on the deck while watching the ocean. There is plenty of seating with long cushioned benches, rockers and high backed chairs outside. The rooms are good sized and had very comfortable beds. The owners have supplied everything you need in the kitchen, with a large table for group meals. We walked to the beach in less than one minute. The private path to the water is only shared by 8 houses, so it is basically private and empty most of the time.

We had a perfect end to the school year in this house. We were only steps from the beach. There were 12 adults and 2 kids, but we all had plenty of space. Every room was nicely decorated with comfortable beds and TV's. The decks were great. I did yoga on the widow's walk every morning and we all hung out in the afternoon and watched the dolphins. The owner was great to deal.

We loved your house during our stay with our son who ran the triathalon starting on Wrightsville Beach on Nov. 12th, 2010. The house was great for the nine of us, and we especially like the widow's walk and views.
