SEQUOIA BEACH DREAMERY -- "THE BEST GETAWAY WE'VE EVER TAKEN"
(View more guest comments below)
Just a few steps from your own beach on Big Austin Creek, “The Dreamery” is that rare vacation rental where you feel like an honored guest. Tastefully decorated with Craftsman detail and Japanese art, the interior features a romantic wood-burning fireplace, gourmet kitchen with a 5-burner gas range, and rich redwood paneling. Picture windows frame tranquil views of nature -- offering water views from virtually every room. Light, airy bedrooms open onto a spacious private deck overlooking the beach, creek, and a great spot for wading and swimming. The 1/2-acre of privacy is graced with soaring old-growth redwoods that predate Columbus, lots of light, and a calming Japanese garden.
“The Dreamery” is located in the Russian River/Sonoma Coast resort area -- about 98 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge. You'll be near world-class wineries, restaurants, spectacular scenery, Northwood golf course, Armstrong Woods Redwood Preserve (tallest tree: 310 ft.; oldest 1,400 years), Jenner by-the-Sea, and the breathtaking Sonoma Coast beaches. Outdoor activities abound in this eco-adventure paradise. However, once you get to the peaceful setting of the Dreamery, you may not want to leave (ever!).
And, in addition to low rental rates, (every little bit counts these days) we will NOT charge the usual $80 cleaning fee if you leave the house in reasonably clean shape.

PAMPER YOURSELF WITH HYDRO MASSAGE

SHOWER IN THE NUDE
Most people do in fact shower in the nude (heh, heh) … but rarely outdoors. Now you can with the private outdoor shower. With both hot and cold running water, you can shower in nature among the towering Sequoias. After a brisk swim in Austin Creek or soaking in the hot tub, you can even do the hot-cold-hot-cold CHA CHA CHA. Why not? Nobody’s watching.
PARADISE GROVE -- PEACEFUL SERENITY
A single-level bungalow, the Dreamery is beautifully sited on a curve in Big Austin Creek. The year-round creek is home to giant blue heron, egrets, river otter, and ducks. This is the most beautiful spot on Austin Creek. It's an easy 1/2 mile walk or bike ride to the village of Cazadero where you will find a real "Country Store." A coffee shop/bakery is even closer. A short scenic drive brings you to the Sonoma beaches and coastline where the Russian River meets the mighty Pacific Ocean. And even if the coast is socked in with FOG, you’ll be protected in the sunny “banana belt” micro-climate with all-day sun (Feb. to Nov.).
WORKING VACATION ANYONE?
The Dreamery also features an in-home computer for guest use. The setup offers free high-speed cable Internet and includes Wi-Fi access if you want to bring your own wireless laptop.

Colossal Redwoods, Wine Country & Pacific Coast (Great Rates)

Why the Owner Chose Cazadero
At first, I looked at properties right on the gorgeous Sonoma coast, but I found them to be windy and foggy too much of the time. But "the Dreamery" is in a protected "banana belt" micro-climate -- just one coastal range removed from the ocean. I chose Cazadero because it’s off the beaten path, yet close enough to enjoy the coastline (15 min), the Russian River (10 min), and wine country attractions. Santa Rosa airport is 45 min. away and it's only 98 min. to the Golden Gate Bridge (I timed it!). You'll be close to world-class amenities and everything this eco-adventure region of N. Calif. has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this House
I must have been an innkeeper in a previous life because I love stewarding this tranquil retreat for folks who want to slow down, reconnect with nature, and share intimate time with a loved one. We’ve given special attention to creating a calming atmosphere with extra touches that offer you an ongoing sense of “Greeting.” The goal is to delight our guests by offering a peaceful respite from the Hurly-Burly of the fast-paced urban scene. Visit the Dreamery, fill your lungs with fresh country air, and feel the Calm.
Outdoor church set in a fairy ring of redwoods, complete with a massive stone altar.
Quaint tee-pee and hanging foot bridge leading to a summer camp.
Home of the historic one-horse General Store and Post Office. Cazadero was the northern terminus of the North Pacific Coast Railroad, originally laid in the 1870s. Check out the photos at the store.
Summer camp offering courses in music and performing arts. Site of another hanging foot bridge crossing of Big Austin Creek.
Delicious desserts and pizza at this nearby bakery -- just a stone's throw from the Dremery.
Cazadero offers great natural beauty with lush forests, year-round and seasonal creeks, meadows, and rugged terrain. Stunning large redwoods, bay trees, and oaks are commonplace. Wildlife is abundant.
Terrific bicycling along Fort Ross and King Ridge roads. Cazadero is approximately 10 miles (16 km) from the Pacific Ocean, the rugged Sonoma Coast and the mouth of the Russian River.
CazSonoma Inn & Restaurant, along Kidd Creek features a natural pool and waterfall amid a majestic redwood forest. Open from May - Thanksgiving, serving dinner and a lovely Sunday brunch.
Old Russian Fort and historic settlement dating back to 1812.
Harbor Seal Colony -- Hundreds of seals reside near the mouth of the Russian River. It's fun to watch them fishing or basking on the sand.
Driftwood forts/beach combing/romantic sunsets/whale watching/fishing, and much more
The ancient coast redwood is the tallest being on our planet! These remarkable trees live up to 2,200 years, grow to a diameter of 26 feet, and stand up to 375 feet tall. This park has some beauties.
Owner's Map of Cazadero
The first time I drove along Big Austin Creek I was smitten – kinda like how you feel when youd first fall in love with a partner. (Remember THAT feeling?) I searched for a year until I found the sweetest spot offering views up and down the creek. The setting is a sunny opening in the coastal forest located on the bend of the year-round stream. The 1/2 acre property is graced with a pebble beach and 600-year-young redwoods. I named it “Sequoia Beach Dreamery.” Guests LOVE this place, and their guest book comments melt my heart and remind me how much I love the peaceful setting and all that this magical part of northern California has to offer. Chances are you’ll come to think of it as your own dreamy getaway. Indeed, think of it as your new back yard. Warmly, Andrew, Santa Rosa, CA
