Fox Farm Cottage~ Shangrila in Dundee, OR

Guest: Kate (Eugene,Oregon)
Date of Stay: 04/13/12 Review Submitted: 04/23/12

Shortly after arrival, Heidi & Jack came to greet us with information about the cottage grounds & amentities. Both hosts were very gracious, welcoming & full of information about local resources. Having lived in Oregon over 20 years, "discovering" Dundee has be a very pleasant experience! They provided vouchers for free wine tastings, brochures on many local destinations, and encouraged us to visit certain, specific surrounding villages in the vicinity. The refrigerator was amply stocked for the supplies for three days of breakfasts! The beds were cozy, cottage was very clean and well appointed. Enjoying the hot tub in the evening was like a luscious treat after a fine day of enjoying the area. Don't miss (make a reservation well ahead of time) dining at their restaurant, The Joel Palmer House! Food was spectculor & the service impeccable, friendly and accommodating...we even met three of their children who work there! The grounds were blooming with spring flowers, on a 2 1/2 acre parcel of privacy. We hope to return again to this periwinkle place of pleasure :D Thank you for sharing Fox Farm Cottage for wonderfully relaxing (never long enough?) weekend~ Cheers!

Owner response:Thank you for your wonderful review. We love what we do. Hope to see you soon again. Heidi

Get away, but not too far away.

My wife and I had never been to Oregon, so we decided to visit the Portland area on our honeymoon. The Fox Farm Cottage was cozy, with all of the amenities of home and then some. Its location is secluded enough to offer a feeling of privacy, but close enough to Portland that you can go explore when you’re ready. Our host, Heidi, was most gracious and made us feel welcome upon our arrival. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend Fox Farm Cottage to anyone looking for a get-away.

Labor Day getaway week

Guest: Derek (Raleigh NC)
Date of Stay: 09/05/11 Review Submitted: 09/15/11

My husband and I, along with 2 friends had the pleasure of staying at Fox Farm Cottage for 5 days while enjoying the gorgeous wine country. The house had absolutely everything we needed, and offered the most peaceful and well maintained garden imaginable. We could easily have stayed in the yard for the entire week, it was most relaxing! It was a pleasure to meet Heidi and see the loving care she gives the garden- the photos do not do the yard justice. We stayed in Portland before traveling to Fox Farm Cottage, and recommend Higgins and Cabazon. In Dundee, we would recommend Dundee Bistro and Farm to Fork. We cooked many meals at home, as all manner of cooking equipment was available at the house. Thanks for a relaxing time and especially the hot tub! J & D, K & D

You'll Never Want To Leave

Choose this place because you sure won't be disappointed! It is a perfect little cottage in a perfect little park! The yard is just beautiful and the cottage is so clean, homey and comfortable with everything that you need. Even breakfast in the frig! Just imaging sleeping in a comfortable bed, waking up to have your husband cooking breakfast and then going out to sit in the sunshine to drink your morning coffee while being dressed in the nice soft terry cloth robe that they provide for you. Yep, life is good! They have it all at Fox Farm Cottage, you will never want to leave! Thank you Heidi for everything, all five of us just had a ball! If we ever get up that way again I hope that we can stay there!

This was our second stay at the Fox Farm Cottage and my husband and I invited our children that live in Las Vegas to join us at the Cottage. Our stay from beginning to end was fabulous. The cottage is comfortable and Heidi has certainly anticipated any needs that one might have while staying at a rental. Our entire family had a wonderful vacation and will certainly return the next time we are fortunate to visit Oregon Wine Country,

We rented the cottage for a long weekend girls trip. It was the perfect setting, perfect place and overall perfect vacation. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy all of our meals there and then some! Quiet relaxing location to enjoy the hot tub and fire pit! Too many wineries nearby to even visit a third. The owner Heidi was very friendly, flexible and helpful in narrowing down a few must see wineries. I definitely recommend the Fox Farm Cottage for any kind of wine country getaway!

Fox Farm Cottage is a two bedroom cottage equip with everything you would need for a relaxing long weekend or a week vacation. The house is beautifully kept with everything you could ever need including a fully stocked kitchen (including eggs and bacon in the fridge - WOW!), television and movies, stereo, hot tub, BBQ and more. The property provides you ultimate privacy with easy access to downtown dundee as well as wineries galore. We ate at the Joel Palmer house which was AMAZING. The Mushroom Soup and Mushroom tart were out of this world. I will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Oregon. Thank you for everything!

Fantastic Retreat for Friends

Guest: Debi (Coos Bay, OR)
Date of Stay: 11/11/10 Review Submitted: 11/22/10

We spent a few days wine tasting with friend in the Dundee area. Fox Farm cottage was the perfect getaway for us. Heidi is a wonderful host. We were able to whip up our own "gourmet" meals and enjoy the wine we had found during our touring. The jacuzzi was a welcome after a hard day of sipping pinots. I just wish that the weather was better so that we could have enjoyed the patios. There is a garage to store your vehicle out of the rain. The living room is cozy with a huge TV. The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and large. What a value!

This cottage made our trip to wine country perfect. The location couldn't be better for visiting the wineries, and the setting is idyllic. Heidi is a fabulous host, providing a home away from home with all the amenities one could possibly need, including a stocked fridge! Beds were comfy and the hot tub is so welcoming after a hard day of touring! I wouldn't even consider any other place in the Valley for our return visits! Be sure to have dinner at the Joel Palmer House too - superb!!

A Step Above Many Vacation Rental Homes

Guest: Chuck (Lawrence, Kansas)
Date of Stay: 10/01/10 Review Submitted: 12/08/10

For two couples that enjoy both dining out in wonderful restaurants and cooking at home, Fox Farm Cottage is a real gem. Right in the heart of Willamette Valley wine country, there are great places to dine, especially Heidi and Jack's restaurant,The Joel Palmer House, in nearby Dayton. Also, it is easy to find food and wine to take back to Fox Farm to create a wonderful meal in a fully equipped kitchen. The well stocked pantry and fridge at Fox Farm Cottage is more than you find in most vacation rentals. Here we had very nice kitchen equipment, a supply of olive oil and dried herbs in the cupboard, and rosemary growing in the yard. Great place to relax.

We spent 3 nights at the cottage. It is in a fabulous location for enjoying Oregon wine country. It is very well furnished and equipped, and clean. Beds are extremely comfortable. Internet for those who need to stay in touch. A stocked fridge. We had a toddler with us, and he loved the gardens. The owners are helpful and most accommodating. We would definitely go again and will recommend this to our friends.

Lovely place to stay in Dundee, Oregon

Guest: Melanie & Glen (Fort Worth, TX)
Date of Stay: 08/04/10 Review Submitted: 09/01/10

We used to go to Napa & Sonoma every year...until we discovered Willamette Valley a few years ago. No offense to Napa & its fabulous wines...we've just enjoyed visiting the beautiful countryside of Oregon without busy HWY 29 & Silverado Trail. We were fortunate to stay at Fox Farm Cottage for 3 nights in August 2010. We originally booked the stay thinking we'd have a friend with us, but we loved having the cottage to ourselves as a couple. The cottage & grounds are beautiful & serene. The owners, however, are what make this stay. Heidi does an incredible job with the gardens...biggest sunflower I've ever seen! You should definitely eat dinner at the Joel Palmer House & take the time to meet chef Chris while you're there, and be sure to take home a bottle of Jack's white truffle oil. We hope to make this our anniversary trip!

We had a marvelous time visiting in Oregon and it was certainly due, in large part, to your lovely "cottage". I really hesitate to use that term, because it is really a lovely home - with all the feel and charm of a real "home away from home". It is just wonderful and really made our stay so enjoyable. Thank you so very much.

Dear Heidi, We have just returned from our wonderful stay in Oregon and I wanted to let you know how much Tom & I enjoyed your Fox Farm Cottage. In a word it was FANTASTIC! You have certainly put your heart and soul into making this cottage so comfortable and inviting. There was nothing we needed during our stay. The saddest part was leaving on Monday morning to stay at a nearby highly rated B&B which we would have traded for your cottage in a heartbeat. We missed your comfortable bed and pillows. Thanks again for sharing your Fox Farm Cottage! Best Regards, Diane Perica

We spent five days enjoying Fox Farm Cottage and had a wonderful time. I got to spend my free time perusing the countless high end wineries located within minutes of the Cottage. We came for a family wedding and had the opportunity to host family memebers for a memorable cook-out...everything about the experience was outstanding...from the hot tub to the cozy firepit and the lovely flowers enhanced our stay. The Cottage itself was nicely furnished and pleaseantly functional. On a 1-10 I'd rate 10!! We will highly recommend to others.

This is simply a phenomenal property. The location is perfect proximity to restaurants and wineries, and the cottage is quaint, comfortable, clean, and decorated towards the high end. The owner is well known in the community--especially the family's excellent restaurant. The owner was very helpful with places to eat, wineries to visit, and things to do. Don't miss this spot. I will be there again! Thanks!

Thanks so much for providing such a beautiful place for our 15th anniversary. We really enjoyed playing croquet on the lawn and dining on the lovely deck. We even saw a deer eating apples on the lawn! We're looking forward to coming back here again. Thanks so much for everything. We have made many great memories in just a few days.
