My husband and I stayed at this property for 8 days. It is a beautiful property located very close to various beaches, shopping and restaurants on the north shore. The reasons I am giving it 4 stars are the sheets and pillows (very stained) are needing to be replaced, light bulb is out by kitchen sink with no replacement bulbs, no kitchen garbage bags, and ice maker did not work. The housekeeper did bring us some garbage bags, which was greatly appreciated. However, the owner may want to talk to the housekeeper and maintenance dept to ensure house is adequately stocked and everything is in working order for the next guests.

Owner response: Wow were were so supprized by this review. This guest called and complained about the trash bags within a few hours of checking in. There were extra bags in the bottom of the trash can under the liner, and we were out the next morning with a box of bags. The never mentioned anything to us about any other issues. We did have a light bulb go out, but were never notified of this. Its true that the ice maker doesn't work, thats why we provide a bag of ice for every guest. They didn't even open it! As for the sheets not being clean. We have over 30 reviews.....not once has this been an issue. We proved extra sheets. Our home is our pride.... I guess you cant please everyone. What else can we say....we will try harder!

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful Haena home on the north shore of Kauai for 8 nights in April. The home is more spacious than the pictures tell. It is very well equipped (you can easily cook at home) and tastefully decorated. We could have lived here comfortably for weeks! As an added bonus, the owner is extremely easy to work with too. I highly recommend staying in this home. It is just a few minutes walk to a secluded beach, a bit further for Tunnels Beach which has great snorkeling. We toured the entire island and found the north shore to be the most beautiful...this is a slice of paradise!

This house was placed immediately behind a larger house on the property but the mountain view was gorgeous. Although directly on Kuhio Hwy, the property is hidden and in a very quiet neighborhood that is far from the hubbub of this laidback island. It was very clean and well decorated. You are within easy walking distance of nice, remote beach and within short drives of even better beaches, things to do, and the wonderful town of Hanalei. We had a great time.

We loved staying here for our honeymoon! This cozy home is tucked away on the North Shore - relatively easy to find and a great location. It is near one of the best north shore beaches and great hiking trails as well. The house is fully equipped with everything you will need - from beach towels to books to kitchenware. It has been nicely updated - we would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to everyone else!

My husband and I recently got back from a week's stay at the wonderful Treehouse. The pictures do not do it justice - it is SO beautiful, clean and homey. We felt like we were in our own house, which made it really hard to leave! It is set off the street, was very quiet, yet a quick walk to the most gorgeous beach, or a short drive to restaurants and coffee. Everything you could need was there, including washer/dryer, extra towels, beach towels, cooking utensils, blankets, books, etc. We cooked most of our meals there so it was nice touch to have salt & pepper and olive oil, among other staples. I loved the lanai, from which you can see the beautiful mountains, as well as the wonderful shower! We couldn't be happier that we chose this place to stay! Jeff, the owner, made it super easy to book and was very helpful in answering all of my questions. I would DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and beautiful place to spend on Kauai.

We stayed 9 days in the Treehouse and I have to say this area is spectacular and the North Shore beaches are really idyllic. The house is perfect for a couple, cozy and comfortable. We rented a couple of bikes and spent the entire visit between Hanalei and the end of the road. We explored the river valleys by bike and rode to the end of the road to watch spectacular sunsets. The property caretaker loaned me a surfboard and we spent every afternoon on the beach in Hanalei surfing and relaxing. Great restaurants, Bar Acuda and Dolphin and good grilling at the house. Location, location, location!

Husband and I just got back from a fantastic four night stay at this sweet one bedroom home. It was a very short and easy 4 minute walk to the beach (and I'm 6 months pregnant so that's saying a lot). And if you prefer it was only another 10 or 15 minute walk down the beach to the famous Tunnels (or 3 minute drive if you prefer)! The house was well equipped. The lanai off the bedroom had a lovely view and offered sweet breezes all night. The kitchen was easy to work with. Contrary to prior reviews, I did not find the home dark at all. There are dimmer switches throughout that can be used to customize the light. There were games and beach supplies there for our use. The shower was very nice as well. The home is a short drive from Hanalei so nicely secluded without being too far from things. Just fantastic location and very comfortable. Thank you!!!

I thought the home was nice, the bed was very comfortable, however the house is so dimly lit that I found myself searching for a chair nearer a lamp! Not enough fixtures and low wattage in the ones that exist. We happened to hit a week of not the best weather, and having it dark inside did not help! Also, the coffee maker is no bigger than a hotel room style, so we drove down Island to find a Starbucks to buy a french press coffee maker. (Sorry, I didn't leave it!) I would have also appreciated more info at the rental, such as how to access the beach, (I had to ask a neighbor) and also trash pick up and especially recycling, what can be recycled on the Island and where to put it! The porch off the bedroom was delightful, and the bathroom was my favorite room in the house, it has a great shower! Up the lighting and coffee system and I'd give it 5 stars!

Owner response: We are a bit surprised by some of the comments of this review. The house is a home for two people, and the coffee maker makes 4 cups of coffee. There are small dimmers on the lights, and sometimes get turned down. We have addressed this and switched out the dimmers. The trash cans are marked for wast and recycling. We recycle all plastics and aluminum pretty standard to most places in the US. Our home is two house off the beach. Access is very simple......walk out the gate make a right walk past a few houses...make a right and you are at the beach. Four minutes walk tops.... You can hear the waves day and night from the house. We have an information book in the house, and copies of the,"The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook" & "Kauai" 23 Themed Itineraries.....Plus we have free WI-FI....Not sure what more we could provide.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay here. High up on stilts and on the back of the property, we felt like were staying in a high-end tropical tree house. The house was open and airy and very tastefully appointed. We enjoyed the well-stocked kitchen and bathroom and how comfortable the house is, but our favorite spot was the bedroom lanai with spectacular view of the Na Pali coast mountains. We spent our mornings gazing at mountains and rainbows as we planned our day. If you're looking for a private, modern, comfortable place on the north shore, this a great choice.

Two weeks of bliss at the "Treehouse"; a very private home beautifully decorated and located at the rear of the property. The spacious house and amenities were nicer than we anticipated from the website. Beautiful views of the mountains and sunsets from our lanai right off the roomy bedroom and also from the living and dining areas. We'd end every day/evening on the lanai complete with a very comfortable couch to enjoy reading, gorgeous views and Happy Hour! We chose the perfect location for us. Snorkeled at Ke'e, Tunnels, Hideways and Puu Poa. One day witnessed approx. 20 sea turtles just a few minutes walk to the beach where the house is located and which also adjoins Tunnels. Hiked the Na Pali Trail and 2 other hikes, paddle boarded at the mouth of Hanalei River and had the most fun ever Ziplining 9 different zip lines at Princeville Ranch (the 4-hour Zip & Dip); had a blast! With a 2 week stay we were able to enjoy a lot of physical activities and still had plenty of time for R&R at the lovely Treehouse. Mahalo Jeff!!

This is the perfect space for honeymooners. The bedroom has a deck with a view of the Nepali headlands and amazing sunsets. The pictures are nice but do not convey how wide open the accommodations really are. It is a short walk to nearest beach which also links you to world famous Tunnels Beach (4-5 min drive to Tunnels). We explored all sides of Kauai and really feel that we landed in the most scenic and majestic spot on the island. Great communication with the owner as well. We highly recommend this spot without hesitation.

Waking up with the sun hitting the mountains and palm trees was perfect. The location was good for accessing Ke'e Beach and the Tunnels and close enough to double back to Hanalei for fast food. After seeing the whole island, we did it right. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Our family of three (two adults and 9-year old daughter) loved our stay at Jeff's "treehouse". The home is beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable, well-equipped and the location is exceptional. We enjoyed the 15-minute walk on the beach to Tunnels, perhaps the best place on the island for snorkelling. I also scuba dived at Tunnels beach, and the experience was unforgettable: a Hawaiian monk seal played in my bubbles! The view from the living room and dining room windows is spectacular, with mountain crests rising high into the sky. Try "The Tavern" at the Princeville Golf Club for a delicious meal and beautiful sunsets. Mahalo, Jeff. We hope to go back one day!

My husband and I traveled with our eight year old daughter and loved the house. The location is excellent, walking distance to Tunnles, a great snorkeling spot, and other beautiful swimming beach even closer. The view of the jagged mountain ridges from the bedroom patio, which has a comfy couch, is fantastic, at night you can hear the surf as you drift off to sleep. The house is airy and beautiful, hardwood floors, granite tiled bathroom, great kitchen, fully equipped. The floorplan is spacious and flows freely. We loved that everything we wanted was there, beach toys, laundry detergent, games, even sunscreen if you forgot yours, books and tips of what to do. Our host was gracious and helpful. We hope to stay there someday again. Oh, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There is a bigger house right in front of this unit, but it sits lower, we did not mind.

We had a great stay at this home. Wonderfully designed, very comfortable, and a beautiful place to relax! It was so nice to sleep with the ocean breezes and sound of rain. The views of the mountain are awesome. The kitchen was well stocked and quite spacious. I agree with a previous reviewer that because the windows all open, you can definitely hear the people staying in the main house. Definitely made it less private, but did not take away from our stay. Also, it would have been nice to have two sets of snorkeling gear instead of just the one. Otherwise, a perfect stay. Thanks to Jeff and his family!

The Tree House is perfectly located on the stunning north shore minutes walk from beautiful Tunnels beach and the Na Pali hiking trails. The lanai off the bedroom has a fantastic view of the nearby Na Pali mountains - a lovely spot for an end of day sundowner. The Tree House is tastefully decorated with a fully stocked large kitchen. This spot is perfect if your want to get away from it all, but also want access (with a car) to the charming shops, restaurants, coffee shops and beach at laid back Hanalei.

This place was absolutely beautiful and private. The location was great if you want to go to the beach and snorkel, relax and have great views. We swam with sea turles, saw two monk seals on Tunnels Beach, walked down the beach to explore, get shaved ice and see three other beaches. Then we also hiked the Kalalau trail which is just 2 miles down the rode. The cool breeze felt great at night, and having coffee in the morning or dinner in the evening on the Lanai was priceless. We picked up food from Foodland on the way from the airport and only drove to the other side of the island for one other hike. We went to the Hanalei shopping center for pizza and the small supermarket and that was awesome too. Thanks for one of the best vacations ever!

We stayed 9 nights in this lovely cottage, and were blown away by the attention to detail and amenities provided by our host. It is a spacious 1 bedroom with ceiling fans in every room, though the fact that it is built plantation-style off the ground provided for a nice breeze. I think this helped with mosquitos as well. I didn't get a single bite on the property. The kitchen was well-equipped with cooking and cleaning supplies - even spices and olive oil for us to use. The bathroom is gorgeous and was stocked with nice soaps and conditioner. There were plenty of clean towels and linens provided, along with laundry soap, which is a lifesaver for light packers such as ourselves. The king-sized bed was very comfortable, and we had plenty of closet space to store our belongings. The views from the lanai and windows were amazing. The cottage is behind another larger house on the property, and we could hear the kids playing in and around the other house from our cottage, but we didn't mind that a bit. Most mornings, we had yogurt with local granola, papayas, and coffee, and did the 10-15 minute beach walk down to Tunnels. The snorkeling is wonderful and I can not stress how great it was to be able to walk there, as there are only 4 parking spots at Tunnels. The snorking gear provided at the cottage was perfect for me, and we rented a second set for my boyfriend in Hanalei. We then returned to the cottage for lunch and a shower, then out for another adventure! We took a catamaran trip of the Napali, kayaked the Wailua River and hiked to Secret Falls, visited Kilauea Lighthouse, toured Limahuli Gardens, and visited many gorgeous north shore beaches. In the evenings, we usually grilled some local seafood, made delicious mai tais with local rum, and watched the sunset from our lanai or from the beach 2 houses away from the cottage. We were close enough to hear the waves at night! Jeff was a great host and was very responsive to our requests. I couldn't recommend this cottage more. We'll be back for sure!

The house is built up on pilings so it feels like staying in a treehouse. A lovely breeze comes in through all the windows. It's spacious and comfortable. The location is great--in a residential area, very quiet and only a 5 minute walk from the beach. The view of "Bali Hai" from the bedroom window is a lovely sight to wake up to. Beach towels, snorkeling equipment, and beach chairs are available. The kitchen is large and well-equipped. Having a washer and dryer in the house is very convenient. Jeff, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. The internet connection worked well. Unfortunately, cell phone coverage is terrible, but that's true of the whole area. I would definitely recommend this property to others and would stay here again if we decide to come back to the Kauai North Shore in the future.

My husband and I spent a week in this charming "tree house" home. It is situated on the property with another rental house, but that does not in any way make it less private. The home is designed so you can have all the shutters and shades open with complete privacy. The house overlooks the home below to unbelievable views of the mountain and the beginning of the Napali coast. The home is very well maintained and clean with a very comfortable bed. The kitchen is well-stocked, so cooking is a easy without having to go buy oil, spices etc. The grill is below with a garden view, however we didn't use it but preferred our private deck for meals. The living area is large enough to accommodate a family of four (with 2 younger kids) easily. The sofa is a pull-out bed (something we noted for future visits). We were looking for a remote authentic island experience and this home was the perfect location. It is a 2 minute walk to an incredible secluded beach. It is a few minutes walk down to Tunnels beach where the snorkeling is amazing (beach chairs, towels/mats and soft coolers are provided for you). We saw turtles and several monk seals. We also walked every morning down to the local coffee shop (5 minutes) and walked home on the beach. At the same location is a nice restaurant, if you don't want to cook or drive to Hanalei (10 minutes). Down the road is the Ke'ee beach and the beginning of the Napali trail. The house is so close you can be the first there, or spend the late afternoon at Ke'ee beach when everyone else has gone home. So in summary, beautiful private home, very short walk to the beach in the most desirable location on the north shore of Kauai - you can't go wrong. This location and home were truly amazing - would go back in a minute! Mahalo Jeff!

My wife and I needed to get away and this place was perfect. We had an amazing stay here. Quiet, relaxing and beautiful. Woke up to the bird songs to enjoy Kauai coffee on the lanai while enjoying the misty mountain view and the sea breeze. Being on the north end of the island you are away from the big resorts and tourist towns. Being so close to the beach, we where always the first ones to tunnels beach and had our pick of beaching spots. The house was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed to cook with and do laundry. We really did not want to leave but, we will definitely be back! Mahalo jeff!

Our stay at the Tree House was terrific. It was lovely inside, bright and airy, and the interior colors and fixtures were perfect. It was so private, you could keep windows and shutters open all the time, rain or shine. There’s a gorgeous view of the ridge from the porch, an easy walk to Tunnel Beach, and a lovely drive to Hanalei. Jeff was friendly and helpful, though there was little we needed. We recommend the Tree House to anyone who wants a great experience of Kauai.

How can your trip be anything but perfect when you're a 2 minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii?! Couple that with lush gardens, blossoming flowers, near-daily rainbow sightings and your day becomes a series of sensory explosions. The Tree House is clean, welcoming, and offers everything a couple or family with small child could need. The kitchen is fully-stocked, the shower has excellent water pressure, there's a full-sized BBQ, plenty of towels for beach and bathroom... All of our expectations were met, and next time we return to Kauai we won't look any further than the Tree House. P.S. The beach walk seems even shorter while savoring local Kauai roasted coffee or a homemade mai tai.

My Husband and I spent a week here and we were sad to go. This truly is an amazing place! The listing and the photos were accurate and the the place was spotless. We love to cook together and the beautiful kitchen made this a dream. As for the rest of the place, we smiled every time we came through the door. We enjoyed some fabulous snokelling at tunnels beach, amazing views from the lanai, and tons of exploration of the north shore. Queen's Bath anyone! Thank you for having the "The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook - Kauai Revealed", it helped us explore. We also found the 'Foodland' near Princeville to be the best supermarket to shop at if there are only 2 of you. -the sushi there is awesome and cheap! We had the opportunity to meet Jeff, the owner, who showed us the bigger house on the property while he was there. It is also beautiful and the whole property rented together would make for a perfect extended family reunion place. Don't hesitate for a second to rent this place! It was perfect! Much Mahalo, Jeff. The trip was fantastic, and we owe much of that to the hospitality of the owner Jeff! We didn't want to leave! We were there for 14 days on our honeymoon and couldn't ask for a better place to get away from everyone and everything and enjoy the beauty of Kauai's north shore. The house itself has a nice view of the mountains and is a short 2 minute walk to an excellent beach. Waking to the beach every evening to watch the sunset in Kauai is nothing short of magical, and having the flexibility to do that without getting in your car, dealing with crowds of people or screaming kids (like the south shore) is priceless. We especially enjoyed the availability of snorkel gear to use at Tunnels Beach ( 10 min walk) to enjoy the excellent snorkeling. The neighbors are great, incredibly honest and very friendly, you will often times find them placing fruits and vegetables from their gardens for sale on the honor system which I found to be absolutely refreshing. The home has everything that you need to feel right at home, and the owner does an excellent job of taking care of whatever is needed without being an obstruction to your vacation. Hanelei is a short and beautiful scenic 10 minute drive away, as are the numerous farmers markets in the area. Ha'ena is universally regarded as one of the best spots on the island to experience true Hawaii! We sincerely enjoyed our time and would return in a heartbeat! Mahalo Jeff!

The trip was fantastic, and we owe much of that to the hospitality of the owner Jeff! We didn't want to leave! We were there for 14 days on our honeymoon and couldn't ask for a better place to get away from everyone and everything and enjoy the beauty of Kauai's north shore. We were only on Kauai for 4 nights, but truly enjoyed our stay in this adorable bungalow. It is the perfect size for a couple or a small family. I loved the kitchen and the ability to cook yummy meals at "home"; a great way to save money and a welcome retreat after going out for dinner every night of our vacation. The view of the mountains out the back lanai are spectacular. Although the house is not directly on the beach, it is a very short walk to several great spots, especially Tunnels Beach and the trail head to the Kalalau Trail along the breathtaking Na Pali coast. Also, the owner, Jeff, was a most gracious host, expertly dealing with our stay via phone and email. We certainly hope to return and stay longer next time. Mahalo, Jeff!

We had a fantastic honeymoon staying here for 11 nights. The house is great. It's at the back of a property which has 3 houses on it. You don't see the neighbors unless you're in the driveway. My first impression was that it's bigger than the pictures make it seem, perfect size for a couple. The location on the North Shore is ideal for those looking to get away to a less commercialized type area. You are minutes away from the best snorkeling, swimming, hiking and surfing on the island. The local town Hanalei is a short drive. It has some really good restaurants and shops. I would definitely recommend this rental.

This house is beautiful, the kitchen is fully stocked, the views are amazing, and the house is walking distance to Tunnels Beach for the best snorkeling on the island! We had an amazing time and are so sorry to leave. We would love to come back to stay here again.

We stayed here for our honeymoon so we wanted somewhere special - somewhere private and romantic. It was perfect. Megan was so friendly and welcomed us to the neighbourhood then left us to our own devices. The house is absolutely gorgeous - lovely and quiet, close to the beach, and beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed to settle right in. It's so quiet at night. There aren't a lot of lights around so you can see all the stars. And the view of the mountains is really gorgeous. There is another house on the property which was also occupied for the duration of our stay but we barely heard or saw the other guests. Really lovely and would highly recommend.

Owner response: We have had many honeymooners and couples who marry while in Kauai stay at Haukalima. They are always very pleased with their accommodations and the fantastic location of the property. It is really a perfect spot for those couples as well as small families.
