Definitivamente volveremos!

We were looking for a relaxing getaway with culture and it was delivered. From the house, staff, amenities and beautiful town..our family continues to talk about the trip. THe house is decorated with great attention...making every turn worth further inspection. The heated pool was a great hit with the kids as was the elabroate grounds. The meals prepared by the staff made me long for more authentic Mexican food. The location of the property is convinient to all points of interest, i.e. culture, shopping, and outdoor activities. San Miguel in Oct is a perfect time to visit. Beautiful weather and so many offerings no matter what one's interest. I highly recommend Sonjowasi to another looking for a relaxing getaway, and experience Mexico in very fine fashion!
Owner response:It was great having you and your family visit San Miguel and SonjoWasi. Im glad you had a wonderful trip. Please spread the word that San Miguel continue to be a safe and a beautiful colonial town in Mexico. We will see you on your next trip!!!

We rented SonjoWasi for a week and had the luck to experience it as a quiet getaway and also as the location for multiple wedding events. For those who want some peace & quiet, SonjoWasi is awesome. The house is contemporary, comfortable and relaxing. It has all of the amenities you need. The staff is excellent. The ample grounds are gorgeous. It is a quick walk to the main square. As the venue for our wedding, it could not have been more perfect. Each & every single one of the guests were stunned by the gorgeous property. The owner, Juan, has put tremendous care into renovating the property to make it modern & unique while keeping the colonial charm. You'll feel at home home here. If you are looking for a place in SMA, look no further. SonjoWasi is it.

This is a stunning home with luxuriant gardens. Location is excellent and staff are friendly and accommodating. Considering these virtues and the fact that the house is commodious, the price is very reasonable. I got into an easy rhythm the first day of my first visit (two other visits since). Wake up in a lovely, large bedroom - enjoy a shower in a striking, contemporary bath - eat a fresh, expertly made breakfast, take a stroll through the garden, plan the events of the day, amble to the shops, return for a swim - dine at a great restaurant - and that's a slow day. The town and surroundings have terrific entertainment and recreation. Trail rides, hot springs and bull fights are my favorites. I will return to Sonjowasi every chance I get - in fact, I'm bringing my extended family later this year to mark the birthday of a loved one. It will be a great memory for everybody.

We rented SonjoWasi for January/February/March in 2011. When we saw it for the first time the previous year, we said to ourselves, staying in a place like this is something we never dreamed of - a tick mark on the "bucket list" of your life. The location is fabulous - only a few blocks from the Jardin in San Miguel de Allende, so centrally located - but the property is so secluded that it is incredibly peaceful and quiet. It's like having your own private park. There are several outdoor areas that are equipped with comfortable furniture. The pool and hot tub are fabulous - the owner has put in an excellent solar system which keeps the pool at a very comfortable temperature without the need and expense of heating with gas. The house is very comfortable, yet has the feel of an old colonial home. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished. The beds are very comfortable, and each bedroom has its own bath. The "front porch" is an amazing outdoor living room, with several seating areas, a fantastic view of the garden, and is a perfect place to watch the sunset. There is a very cozy media room/TV room. We had several large dinner parties while we were here in the beautiful dining room, and the kitchen is large and easy for a group to work in. One of our best experiences was having a Peruvian cooking lesson and dinner from Alexandra Gutt. Our family came to visit, and felt like they were at a 5 star hotel. Finally, we can't say enough about the staff - Maria Elena, our cook / maid, and Roberto and Beto the gardeners. They are all exceptionally helpful, kind, and dedicated. And the owner, Juan Leon de Vivero, is a wonderful host who ensures you have everything you need to make your stay memorable.

When we first saw this property we felt it was something we had to put on our bucket list! After staying here for 3 months we now call it home and will be sad to leave. The house far exceeded our expectations and we will have so many fond memories of our friends and family splashing around in the pool --- and of all of those great dinner parties. Where can you find a house that has 4 "equal" bedrooms and bathrooms -ever! And the most comfortable beds you could sleep on. The gardeners, Roberto and Beto have made our life so easy! Never had to carry groceries into the house! Maria Elana is amazing. Always friendly, keeps the house immaculate -- laundry under control -- and is a delight to have around you each day. Try her cooking and you will be delighted. We had her cook our traditional dishes but most enjoyed letting her surprise us with one of her favorites! And the owner Juan we have voted the BEST owner we have ever rented from. To sum it up we can't think of one negative! Would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to be close to the heart of San Miguel (easy walk to Jardin and activities), be spoiled by the staff, live in beautiful surrounds and have the privacy and serenity of living on such a large property in the best location!

SonjoWasi is an amazing place! with a short walk to town, market, churches and restaurants... You appreciate the serene and restful gardens especially after you return from your hikes around town, horseback riding or hot air ballooning… Just lie down in the hammock, relax and listen to the birds…Oh! so peaceful….! For those who enjoy swimming there's a lovely pool --the kids loved it! Since I traveled with my family I got to see all the rooms. Beautiful pieces of art and antiques are displayed throughout and the rooms are well appointed and kept spotlessly clean, each with their own bathroom. Also, each room has its own small terrace, a wonderful private place if you want to sit and enjoy some time on your own, perhaps with a good book and a glass of wine. If you go up to the roof terrace you have the most beautiful view of the city and of their famous church (see their website for pictures). The TV room is very cozy with a big plasma cable TV, with DVD and the works. --And... almost forgot to mention, free calls to the States and Wi-Fi internet! The service is great. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. And the breakfasts…. mmmm, yummy! --Every day is different, ---ask for the “chilaquiles” they were my favorite! Also, try their ‘honey’ on the fruit, it’s delicious… We thoroughly enjoyed our stays (have been there three times), and will return for sure. I can't recommend SonjoWasi highly enough!

Far superceded my expectations! Photos of this property simply couldn't do it enough service. The hacienda is beautifully and tastefully decorated, bedrooms (and beds!) serene and comfortable, the pool and expansive gardens magnificent, staff friendly as can be, and is ideally located in town within walking distance to everything. I stayed for a week this past spring and would not hesitate to return to Sonjowasi the next time I visit San Miguel. Top notch acommodations ... doesn't get much better.

I have stayed at Sonjowasi several times, and it is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in San Miguel. Behind the gate is an incredible garden terraced up the hillside, and at the top the beautiful house with swimming pool. The staff there is wonderful, and the house is pristine. The cook prepares fresh, delicious breakfasts every morning, and she made us great comidas as well. Don't miss her pozole.

My stay at Sonjowasi was divine! First, the location --- only a few blocks from the Jardin in San Miguel de Allende, so centrally located. Second, the property. You have your own private park ... well cared for and exquisite. There are several outdoor areas where you can quietly read a book, join friends and family for a meal, or just sit quietly and listen to the birds --- all the while surrounded by lush plants, green lawns ... even a fire pit for evenings outdoors. Third, the house. It's incredibly comfortable, yet has the feel of an old colonial home. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished. There are ceiling fans in all the bedrooms. Each bedroom has it's own private bath. The "front porch" is an amazing outdoor living room, with several seating areas, a fantastic view of the garden, and is a perfect place to watch the sunset. There is a very cozy media room/TV room. The dining table will seat 14. The kitchen is large and easy for a group to work in. And if you really want to watch the sunset, you can take the stairs to the roof, where your view is even more amazing! Fourth, the people. Isaabel, the cook, and Maria Elena, the maid, are friendly, helpful, thoughtful and there to help you with any needs. If you are learning Spanish, as I am, then they are also great teachers! Roberto, the gardener and his son, Berto, were also very friendly and capable. .All of these factors --- location, garden, house and people --- combined to make my two week stay at Sonjowasi truly memorable. I'm headed back for two more weeks in August, and can't wait. Viva Sonjowasi!!!
