My husband and I came for a weekend get away after he finished with his busy season at work. It was such a restful weekend and so nice to be able to lounge on the back deck, take a nice hike without having to drive anywhere, and we only cooked one meal! The food was delicious, the cabin was well stocked and accounted for every need. We will definitely be back, and I highly recommend this Grandview Mountain Cottages to anyone. Thank you so much!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Sometimes folks never leave the property! We love that! Of course lots to do in the area if cabin fever sets in and fabulous hiking trails and waterfalls all around us. Cumberland Plateau of TN is truly a hidden gem! Hope to have you all back again! Thanks for a great review!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this enchanting farm so very much! The cottage was welcoming and cozy, clean and comfortable. Every little need was thought of. The owners had prepared a notebook filled with information about the area which was very helpful. You absolutely must take advantage of Papa Phil's cooking during your stay - everything made from scratch and from the freshest ingredients. We ordered a pizza for our first night, and it was absolutely delicious. We had the biggest and yummiest blueberry muffins delivered to our door the next morning, and then the following morning had the deluxe country breakfast. All I can say is that I'm glad we did a lot of hiking during our stay! The cottage is located near gorgeous waterfalls, scenic hikes and great antique stores. The farm was a delight to wander around, it was so very peaceful, and the view from the cottage is amazingly beautiful. I would recommend this cottage highly, and we will be back! Thank you, Ilaeka and Papa Phil for a wonderful weekend!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Wow is all we can say! Papa Phil says thanks for the compliments on his cooking and we are so glad you liked all our info in the cottages for things to do in the area! Looking forward to your next visit!

This was a great find!!! We were able to take our dogs, which is our family, and enjoy beautiful mountain views and fresh air. The property is beautiful, the cabin clean and nicely decorated. The best part is Papa Phil's pizza if you go make SURE you get some, if not a pizza lover try anything they offer ALL of it is delicious. We will definitely be coming back to explore more of the hiking trails and enjoy more pizza of course! :)Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Love newcomers and love to have them back again! Glad you had fun! Papa Phil says thanks for the compliments on his cooking!

We came back after having stayed in May 2010, and the cottage was just a nice and the experience just as great! Ilaeka & Papa Phil make you feel so welcome and they provide such great service and special catered & delivered meals. We had a breakfast basket and a gourmet pizza (all homemade) the 2nd day there. And the cottage, the landscape, fire pit, grill and Jacuzzi make the stay so enjoyable! And if you get a chance, take home some homemade preserves, relish or local raw honey! If you're looking for the nicest cabin/cottage with a hot tub in TN, check out the Pinecone cottage! We can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We love to have repeat guests and can't thank you enough for all your kinds words! Looking forward to your next visit!

We have been coming here for years. It always feels like we own the place and feels so much like home. The owners are so friendly and helpful. If we had anything negative to say, we would have to make up something. This is truly a treasure and we are so thankful to have found it. The website represents itself 100% and there are no surprises unless you count the yummy cookies, apple cider and organic coffee that await you! We will continue to visit every year - Outstanding!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

My husband and I went up for 2 days and 3 nights, and when it was time to go, no one wanted to! It's a home away from home! The kitchen was well stocked with little necessities you'd probably forget to bring and they had a wide variety of dishes. We were greeted with a wonderful basket of homemade goodies and received a delicious homemade pizza about an hour after we got there! The cabin was tucked back in the woods and the trees were gorgeous that time of year!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, girls getaway.
Owner response: So happy you had such a good time! Papa Phil does make a pretty good welcome basket and homemade pizza which we get good reviews on from lots of folks! Arrive that first night and have homemade pizza delivered to the door is a great way to start off the weekend! See you again soon we hope!

We did not have a vacation for two years- unheard of in my house! When we decided it was time to remedy that Grandview Mountain Cottages was our FIRST and ONLY consideration. We have stayed in the Pinecone twice and the amenities and accommodations are perfection. Settling in is so easy because all you truly need to bring are your toothbrush and clothes. Everything else has been thought of, including the most amazing soaps and shampoos. You will notice when you enter the welcome basket of organic and home grown goodies along with a personal welcome from Ilaeka and Pap Phil. If you have just made a long drive to get here (or not), order Papa Phil's pizza to enjoy your first night as you settle in. He makes the dough with heirloom flours and they use home grown organic tomatoes and basil. Whether you plan to hike in the woods or to any of the numerous falls in the area, attend a festival or dirt track race or simply spend time on Farm enjoying the Game Room, fishing at the pond or swinging in a hammock by a fire you will find that Grandview Mountain Cottages was the perfect choice.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: We welcomed back these folks after missing them the last few years and love having our previous guests come back to visit and relax! Thanks for the great review and come backa again soon!

What you will find are mild days and cool nights and waking up from comfortable beds to as much or as little of an agenda as you want, but it will be mother nature's program in her world of small roads and towns, tall leafy trees with wind in the lofty branches, cicadas and birds in the morning and wandering sounds of night creatures. I used to think a vacation must consist of a water view.....for me the ambience and the view is everything. What is even more serene are the rolling pastures and thickets of trees where you might not see one thing move except the clouds. Our hosts had the dual capacity of being ever available and amenable while respecting your every moment of needed restorative day of quiet. Do get Papa Phils pizza when you arrive and biscuits and juice the next morning to round out your welcoming experience. If you are into a real civil war experience, please go to the military parks in Chattanooga ans Chickamauga first before you hit the overly touristy spots of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. A real treasure trove for folks loving old barns and small comfortable communities as a change from the concrete life in the larger cities. You will want to go back. Ilaeka and Papa Phil...great hosts!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, girls getaway.
Owner response: Lots of country pampering in our comfy cottages with mother nature around you! That is what we like to hear! Loved our guests from Texas and glad you had a great time. Lots of things to do around the area... or just do nothing ... your choice!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: I bought this property when it came up for sale a few years ago as it borders my family's beautiful Cumberland Plateau farm. It was then totally renovated and redecorated. I worked as an international consultant and lived in Paris France for 15 years prior to moving back to TN to start the B&B style vacation rentals on our farm. My father 'Papa Phil' who lives at the farmhouse nearby helps me manage the property and does the catering services we offer to guests. He is a retired IBM executive and makes everything he cooks from scratch using only the freshest ingredients.
Why the Owner Chose Crossville:
Family & Guests who have stayed with us in the past always commented on the beauty of the Cumberland Plateau area and how nice it was to get away from the crowds of Gatlinburg and enjoy a peaceful rural getaway! The Cumberland Plateau is rich in history, musical culture and this location was ideally situated in eastern Tennessee. The perfect place to 'relax, explore, unwind' away from the stress of city life.
