My husband and I stayed at this cabin for 2 days for our anniversary. It was such a pleasant, welcoming cabin. The owners have thought of everything that you could need or want. The homemade food was delicious!! The farm is beautiful and there are many hiking trails all around the area. We brought our dog and it was very fun watching her explore the area. We really enjoyed staying here and would recommend this cabin to anyone! Thanks for such a relaxing vacation!
Owner response:We have lots of guests celebrate special occasions in the cottage and love hearing such great feedback. We are pet friendly but the cottages are cleaned thoroughly after our 4 legged friends leave and folks say they can't believe someone had a pet there! Romance or family fun... our cottages are like a B&B guests tell us only better because you have privacy of your own place but Papa Phil's Catering Kitchen nearby!

We booked Grandview Mountain Cottage because our family needed a nice place to call home for a couple months while my husband finished up some business. Papa Phil and Ilaeka welcomed all of us ( our 3 kids, cat and dog ) with open arms. We arrived to fresh baked cookies and a cottage that was as inviting as apple pie. A cozy fireplace, comfy beds and a fully stocked kitchen made this cottage a home. The area is full of exciting adventures such as beautiful waterfalls, delightful trails and stocked fishing ponds. I highly recommend this lovely property to anyone who needs to get away for a couple days or a couple months, you will not be disappointed!
Owner response:In off season (winter) we sometimes renta our cottages out by the month in advance while we still have the dates open, at an off season rate. For more info on long term rentals off season just give us a call or send us an email. Folks find they have everything they need (except some clothes and food) and can just move in and everything is included in our rates! So if you need a home away from home for an extended period in our winter months, please contact us and we'll send you a quote. This family was lovely and we just hated to see them go! We are pet friendly (extra charge and deposit required) and after folks leave we clean extensively so there is no sign that pets ever stayed there!

My husband and I were seeking a much needed change of scenery around the Christmas holidays after losing our daughter in May. The Grandview Mountain Cottages are the perfect escape. We stayed in Pinecone Cottage, which looked as if it were right out of a magazine. It was very clean, cozy, decorated impeccably and had every amenity imaginable. The owners went out of their way to make sure our stay was everything we hoped it would be. The setting is breathtaking, and it was quiet and private. We highly recommend it and can't wait to go back!
Owner response:So happy you had such a good time and best wishes for happy holidays! Look forward to seeing you next year!

I and three of my girlfriends stayed at this wonderful rental....we could not have had a more comfortable, relaxing, welcoming place to stay! The hosts have thought of everything! From the fabulous decor, comfortable beds, welcome basket, relaxing hot tub and deck, hiking trails, nice well equipped kitchen, to Papa Phil's breakfast and pizzas and the eco friendiness....we had it all!! The hosts are very accommodating and friendly and the rental process was smooth as silk! We will def return here!
Owner response:Had a great visit with these lovely ladies and glad they found some time to enjoy the cottage and farm trails as they were busy hitting the many yard sales set up near us that weekend for the four state Hwy 127 "largest yard sale" in the country that runs through here every first weekend in August! As we are just 15 minutes drive from Hwy 127 it made a nice retreat to use as a base for their antique hunting! Hope to see them all back again soon!

We stayed at the pinecone cottage for a week. During the stay we were pleasantly surprised at the detail that Ileaka and Papa Phil included in their property. We didn't need a thing except our clothes. The cottage was goregeous. The appliances, decor, linens, bedding, etc. were exquisite. The additional touches were wonderful as well. We had a bowl of fresh blueberries and delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies awaiting our arrival. The farm is beautiful, we picked blueberries and snacked on them all week. We had a deer visit every morning, eating berries from the backyard. The hot tub was a relaxing way to end the day and unwind... Papa Phil and Ilaeka were great hosts, they gave us our privacy but we all the while were very helpful and attentive. She made us reservations at the Wildwood Stables for trail riding, it was an awesome experience and very affordable. The cottage was also filled with tons of area information. Finally, the simple things such as organic soaps, shampoos, cleaners, etc. were an unexpected treat as well. Papa Phil and Ilaeka, we truly enjoyed our visit and will DEFINITELY return as well as send our friends. Until next time.....
Owner response:Thanks so much! We try to give our guests the best of both worlds...privacy but help when they need it. We love having our guests come back over and over again! It is kind of like having an extended family and we really enjoy all the wonderful guests who come from all over to stay here.

This place is fantastic! Details abound at the farm from the signage around the property to the interior decorations. Throughout the cottage the flooring is gorgeous and will make you jealous that it's not in your home. A detail that I appreciated is the water purification system. The eco-friendly attitude of the owners is one that needs to be adopted by many more folks in my opinion. Man's best friend is welcome at this property and your doggies will love it. Their willingness to accommodate my last minute request is proof the that owners are running a first class operation. You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay at Grandview Mountain Cottages.
Owner response:We offer cottages that are eco-friendly with water purification systems so you can drink from the tap and and bath in pristine clean non chlorine water. We use only non toxic cleaning products and pest control products. We thoroughly clean the cottages with hepa filter sytems and eliminate any doggie odors after our 4 legged friends have stayed with us. Folks who don't bring their pets say they cannot believe we allow pets as there is no trace left behind. So both pet owners and non pet owners are happy in our country cottages on the Cumberland Plateau! The floors are made from different widths of white pine eco harvested from our forest and wood pegged down and we think they are pretty too!

This place is absolutely wonderful. The pictures do not do it justice! My husband and I wanted a quick get-away to celebrate our 24th anniversary. Ilaeka was quick to help us make some last minute plans. When we arrived she showed us to our cottage and it was perfect. The cottage is decorated just like a picture from Southern Living. The master bath and bedroom are a perfectly romantic place. My second favorite place was the hot tub! It is super nice. The view is beautiful from the deck. The cabin is well-maintained and very clean. It is stocked with all kinds of extras you don't find in most rental places. If you want to leave your worries behind and spend some quiet time in the outdoors this is the place to go. We went to the pond and hiked on the trails. I can not wait to return to this perfect cottage.
Owner response:We are so glad you had a nice visit and appreciate your wonderful comments! Come back again soon! Ilaeka and Papa Phil

Our stay was wonderful. My husband, myself, our daughter & son-in-law and our 2 grandchildren had everything that we could need. The minute we walked in the door the kids thought that the Foyer Checker Board table & chairs were especially for them. The decor throughout the cottage was like something you see out of a country charm magazine. The cottage is stocked with everything from kitchen towels, coffee and teas to spa towels, bath robes and resort bedding and linens. The minute you enter the cottage you feel a sence of tranquility and the assurance of a special and memorable time. The view from the back is breathtaking. We hiked the beautiful mountain trail around the property and fished at the pond to see who caught the most fish. We all had so much fun. Thank you so much for the welcome basket of oranges and Papa Phil's baked cookies. The fresh baked bread and home made jellys & jams were an excellant treat for our Holiday stay. Papa Phil & Ileika are wonderful people. Because our time was limited I can't wait to come back to enjoy the things that I was not able to do. Thank you both so much for your Hospility and making us feel at home.
Owner response:Papa Phil and I love having families meet up here and enjoy each other's company relaxing and exploring and staying cozy in the Pinecone cottage! We had a great time with your family and look forward to seeing you all again!

Upon arrival as we headed down a long drive my first thoughts were "What have I done", soon we came up on an old farmhouse that was breathtaking and a smiling face from the side porch.. Ilaeka made us feel as if she had known us for a long time. When we walked iside the Pinecone Cottage it took my breathe, old, nostalgic and had been decorated to perfection to make you feel warm and welcomed and indeed we did. The view was just incredible, the privacy was amazing. I have always been a beach person, but I would rather spend a week here anyday :) However we didn't get to try Papa Phils pizza, but that is on our list next time. As we went to return the key the smell of homemade Applesauce filled the screened porch a we walked up, we purchased 3 jars of the Hot Pepper Sauce "this is the BEST" I have ever eaten. This place is as far as I'm concerned is rated Tops. Ilaeka and Papa Phil we will see you guys soon. Thank you again for a wonderful weekend.....
Owner response:We hope to see you all again real soon! Was a pleasure to meet you and glad you enjoyed the Hot Pepper Jam with your smoked salmon! We are so happy you had a good time and look forward to your next visit!

For a wonderful week in July, my husband and I stayed at Pinecone Cottage while our boys attended a sports camp near by. Even though we were glued to our laptops most of each day (it was a working vacation for us), we completely enjoyed our stay. The view from the cottage deck was beautiful, the comfortable cottage decor was refreshing, the amazing hikes through the lush rolling hills and farmland were full of adventure and amazing vistas, the fresh blueberries picked right off the bush and fresh veggies from the garden kept us fortified and healthy, the delicious homemade pizza ready for us when we arrived hit the spot as did Papa Phils wonderful fresh gazpacho, the wonderful conversations with our gracious hosts, and on and on and on. Ilaeka and Papa Phil made us feel right at home and we couldn't have had a more enjoyable week. One evening we ventured out too far on a hike and our wonderful hosts came looking for us worried we might be too tired to make it home. We hope to return to stay again next summer and bring our puppy with us next time.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage is wonderful with everything included that you would need. The owners decorated the inside of the cottage very nicely. We had total privacy and very beautiful surroundings. The view from the deck is fabulous. The location made it a great place to stay and still be fairly close to different towns for other things to do. The large hot tub on the deck was also great. We will definitely go back and rent the same cottage again.
Owner response:It's always nice to have our guests come back for another visit and we hope to see this lovely couple from Indiana come again soon. Thanks for such a nice review and we look forward to your next visit!

From the moment you walk through the door of the Pinecone cottage you feel as if you are visiting with family that loves you and wants you to be comfortable, and stay awhile. They have truly rolled out the red carpet. Who could resist the baths with spa like feel, spa towels, spa robes, 5 star resort bedding and linens, pristine water, hot tub, everything here has been thought out to the smallest detail. My son and I spent a week at Pinecone and did not want for a single thing. Owners Pappa Phill and Ilaeka are trully special people that care and want your stay with them to be exceptional. Pappa Phills pizza is not to be missed. I can't wait until our next visit to try his farmhouse breakfast. Ilaeka your attention to detail is not to be improved upon. You have thought of everything and I mean everything! And last but not least this is GOD'S country, the scenery beautiful, thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with us. We arrived home refreshed, relaxed, and reconnected. Mission accomplished. Thank You!!!!Hello I am Matthew, and i say EVERYTHING My mom said is true for me too. On October 17, 2009, Lee McPherson and I were married in a private ceremony behind Pinecone Cottage. The trees were tipped with crimson and ocher, and the view was spectacular. The crisp fall weather, the rolling hills, the overcast sky, and the bagpiper transported us to faraway Scotland. Our wedding was everything we hoped for, and it would not have been possible without the hospitality and helpfulness of Ilaeka and Papa Phil. Instead of the traditional rehearsal dinner, we had a delicious breakfast on the farmhouse porch the morning after the wedding. Papa Phil and Ilaeka served us family-made sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, heirloom flour pancakes, homemade coffee cake, freshly squeezed juice and an array of homemade jams. However, while the accommodations were comfortable, the amenities luxurious, and the food delicious, it was the opportunity to share our special weekend with our gracious hosts that made Grandview Mountain Cottages the perfect choice for our wedding.

We live only 45 minutes away from Grandview Cottages but had never heard of them, but oh my, what a surprise when we checked them out for accommodations for our daughter's future inlaws as they planned to come to Tennessee for her wedding. The area was so beautiful, in fact, that we decided to have the wedding ceremony there! The cottages themselves are beautifully and comfortably decorated, with the simplicity that says thoughtfulness and good taste were major factors in the furnishings. Our daughter's wedding was a very special day and owners Phil and Ilaeka were so wonderful to work with--we feel as though they are part of our family! You will not be disappointed if you plan a visit to the cottages--beautiful vistas, nature trails, fishing pond--and a quiet, peacefulness permeates this secluded piece of paradise. You can read all about the amenities on the web site, but what you can't see there is the genuine care and concern Papa Phil and Ilaeka have for their guests. So, go and see for yourselves. You will not be disappointed!

What a beautiful place to have a Scottish outdoor wedding! The cool, brisk fall weather added with the bagpipes and a breathtaking view made the experience unforgetable for our family. Our stay was enjoyable from the moment we drove up to the farmhouse where we were greeted with a smile and warm welcome. The cottages were delightful - loaded with everything you could possibly need - and more! It was also the perfect location to bring four young kids (6,4,4 & 4). They loved hiking to the fish pond and waterfalls, building a fire and exploring the farm. They didn't want to come home. We also got to enjoy the most delicous breakfast out on the porch our last morning. It was a fantastic way to end a wonderful weekend! Thank you Ilaeka and Papa Phil! We WILL definitely be making plans to come back. Sincerely, The McPhersons (Axel, Jeanne, Ellie, Brent, Luke and Cale)

Incomparable! The best ever! Old world elegance in a stunning mountain setting. Pinecone is a luxury resort by itself – the cottage is beautifully and completely furnished with a full complement of amenities that ensure that the needs of either a large, active family or a couple on a romantic weekend are met. Extraordinary value! We live in the Mid-Atlantic region near Washington, D.C. and a comparable cottage on the Chesapeake Bay or in the Shenadoah Valley would be triple the cost and be full all the time. Your hosts are incredibly warm and charming. The country breakfasts, the homemade bread, the fresh baked pizza cannot be missed. We (and all the friends and relatives that we can talk into it) will be back. Our dog loved it too.

Sophistication, elegance, polish and modern style meet country charm and romance!! The blend is phenomenal! You have thought of everything, and we were so very pleased with our accommodations. The organic atmosphere is a definite plus, including the whole house water filtration system. We felt at home from the moment we walked in the door. The Pinecone Cottage is highly recommended by us, for anyone seeking ultramodern conveniences within the cottage, plus the simple back to nature pleasures of reading for hours in a hammock - and listening to the birds and breezes! We have to mention the hot tub and spa robes, such pampering!! We will definitely be back, to experience the breakfasts everyone is raving about in your guest book. My husband and I spent a week here in this beautiful house. My initial intention during the visit was to go out every night for dinner and not go near the kitchen. When we arrived, I decided I wanted to go to the grocery store and stock up and hibernate. We had such a wonderful romantic time and the house feels like a home and is beautiful. We cooked, ate, sat by the fireplace, played in the hot tub, sat by the fire pit, hung in the hammock and fished in the pond. Our special treats included the warm hospitality by the owners. Fresh baked bread and home churned butter were delivered to our door step! On the last day we ate at the farm house and got to know our host, papa Phil and our hostess, Ileika. There are the most wonderful people we have met in a very long time. This place rocks!

Several of our guests have signed our guestbook in the cottage but not on the website so here are a few highlights: "Chill was the word of the day, smores and sausages around the firepit, walk to the "beach" (pond), everything was great. We even saw a deer walk right through the back yard.. Had a great time!" (July 2008 - Talpesh Family & friends-Florida) ""We came here seeking time away from a hectic lifestyle. We found wonderful natural peaceful and satisfying accomodations...early mornings running on your hills (which we will tell people back home "mountains", middle of the day at the pond pulling in the "big one", rest and peace of cool nights... We enjoyed visiting with our hosts and experiencing the great country breakfast. First Class accomodation with much more than we expected." (Aug 2008-The Holder Family-Indiana) "... God blessed us with your lovely getaway cottage. A dream come true for us. We hope to visit again real soon...not just to celebrate our 65th and 32nd mutual anniversaies, but just to relax and enjoy the serenity and peace found here." (Sept 08 - Bonnie and Doug, Bea and Fred - Ohio) "We always wanted to find a getaway that was truly relaxing and we could call "Our place"... where a lot of special memories were made. You thought of everything! The warm feel of the PineCone Cottage was the perfect touch. We will be back and we will send others. Thank you for opening this wonderful place" (Oct 08 -The Dingwalls - Tennessee)

My family and I spent a wonderful four days and three nights at Pinecone Cottage. My husband and our boys quickly found the pond and caught several bass. We took food and cooked all our meals in the kitchen or on the gas grill. One night we made a fire in the pit and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows. Yum! The ping-pong table was a surprise. The boys thought mom and dad wouldn't have a clue about the game and that they would skunk us. Wrong! My husband and I had a great time convincing them otherwise. I personally enjoyed the hiking trails around the cottage. Acorns were falling, and the leaves were just beginning to turn. I also found a Tennessee Wildflower book in the den. I couldn't put it down. Yes, the hot tub was awesome! Our hosts were very sweet people, and it was a pleasure getting to know them. The cottage was charming, and my family will always have great memories of this special place.

A warm THANKS for this SPLENDID vacation time in a wonderful Tennessee setting. We came from France and it was a perfect stop to RELAX during our holidays in the States. The cottage is just ...a Jewel ! Worth a 5 stars hotel ! Perfect for a (2+2) family time, allowing privacy for the parents !! The kids & parents loved the hot tube, under the stars, with candle lights. But also the fish pond (first fishing experience for kids), the firepit, the nature, the cooking ( ah..the country breakfast, and pizzas of Papa Phil!!)... Wonderful people, Wonderful place ! And so many things to enjoy in the area: horses, hiking, lakes, rivers...Kids loved it. We'll be back !

Even with the storm knocking out the electricity for 8-9 hours, we still had the best time!
