Majestic Mountain Retreat

Great for our family with young kids. Quiet, lots of space, great view, close to Yellowstone.

Guest: Jen (Lombard, IL)
Date of Stay: 09/08/11 Review Submitted: 09/15/11

We stayed here with our two kids (14 months and 3.5 yrs) and it was a great stay. The unit was very large, very clean, quiet, and the owners were helpful. It was easy and convenient to pick up and drop off the keys. The unit was spacious and comfortable. Lots of kitchen gadgets, pots, plates, basic spices, etc. We saved a bunch of money by cooking all our own meals. It was also great to have a washer and dryer in the unit. The beds were comfortable. The decor was nice - furnishings seemed modern and the unit seemed to be recently renovated. Very nice place. The unit was very quiet. I am a light sleeper and was concerned about the unit's proximity to the highway, and I always worry about thin walls. We didn't hear any noise from the neighbors next door, and we were not bothered by the adjacent road at all. There really wasn't any road noise. There was a really pretty view of the meadow, forest, and distant mountains out the front of the townhouse. My husband and son played ball across the street which was a fun way to burn energy before bed. The only thing we found odd was that there was no hand soap. This was our first time renting through vrbo.com so I don't know if this is typical or not. Fortunately, we had a bar with us. This unit is in the "farthest" corner of town from Yellowstone park, but it wasn't a problem at all. It only took a couple minutes to drive to the entrance gate. You can walk to the downtown shops and restaurants from the unit. It was nice to be on the quiet end of town and have a pretty view. To those traveling with young kids: While sitting in the living room (on the main level) it is difficult to hear noise from the upstairs or downstairs bedrooms. Its impossible to hear anything from the basement while in the upstairs bedrooms. We anticipated this and brought our baby monitor with us, so we could hear if our 3-yr old (in the basement) needed help (while we were upstairs). Also, the unit was easy to child-proof. With a crawling baby, I was worried about the stairs. The stairs to the basement had a door that closed off. We put a couple suitcases in front of the steps from the living room to the upstairs to keep him off those steps. It was easy to keep him safe. We really enjoyed our stay here. It sure beat being crammed into a hotel, and with the money we saved cooking our meals, was more economical as well. Thanks for a great stay!

Basic Accommodations - nothing majestic

Guest: CTM (Colorado)
Date of Stay: 08/10/11 Review Submitted: 08/30/11

Condo is on the edge of town, furthest from the main restaurant & shopping areas (you can't really walk to options as u go thru some iffy dark streets & limited sidewalks to get anywhere). It overlooks the fairgrounds so enjoy the distant peaks in order to forget that you are in an area that is a mix of run down surrounding homes w/ only a few better kept properties. The condo provides the basics for sleeping & changing your clothes, but don't think that you will get 8-10 people on 1 sofa &1 small loveseat in the only shared space. For showers/baths, there is not a sufficient supply of hot water to get more than 4 people clean before the hot water runs out (excl. washer running even). The "downstairs" bedroom is the basement w/ 1 larger room partitioned off to separate the queen bed from the 2 twin beds in front of the tv. Overhead is acoustic ceiling tiles & fluorescent lighting. The kitchen cannot accommodate 8-10 people for meals because it has a small counter along one wall w/ al arge table & 4 clunky chairs on the opposite wall. If the table wasn't against the wall you wouldn't easily access shared areas since into/out/thru the condo & down to the basement is via the kitchen. The table has to be against the wall to allow passage & u still need for a cook. As for the kitchen options, if you want to make ice for 8-10 people, you can't make enough in 2 trays provided. The pans are terrible (one is concave on the bottom) & worse than what is found at thrift stores. While the condo is a better site than the location the owner sends you to in order to get the keys from the "manager", don't think that your reception will be one of "we're glad your here, here's how you contact us if you need something". They won't let you see the inside of the property - which would help you feel somewhat assured that it is in much better shape inside than what it appears to be from the outside. They will not offer you anything other than, pay up! before they hand over the keys. And no matter what your definition is of a "majestic retreat", the owner has no interest in how her paying guests felt about their stay because she already has your money. If you want clean comfortable rooms w/ a basic kitchen / laundry facility thrown in, then you will be pleased w/ the rental. Enjoy your sleep & bedroom space because you won't have any room to do much else in this "cozy" space. It is better for a group of 4 -6 people at once if u want to spend any time together at all.

Great place to stay in West Yellowstone

I would recommend staying at this condo. Very clean, very nicely furnished and decorated, and comfortable. Driving through town, I did not see anything that looked as good as this. Close to restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed coming back here after going to the park each day.

Good alternative to expensive motels in West Yellowstone!

Guest: kent.j.k. (Bozeman, MT)
Date of Stay: 06/09/11 Review Submitted: 06/13/11

Five of us stayed at this condo for a few nights and really enjoyed it. There are 2 bedrooms on second floor and 2 bedrooms in the basement. The main floor is living room and kitchen/dining room. We liked that the rooms shared a bathroom, but that it wasn't actually in one of the bedrooms. The basement has decent light from a big window well. The basement sleeping arrangement is as advertised - you come down the stairs into the main bedroom with 2 beds, and the other bedroom is a little more separated off. The kitchen is well stocked and we enjoyed having breakfast and dinner there each day. Thank you for a nice stay!
