Fantastic home and location for downtown Colorado Springs and region

Guest: Peter and family (New Hampshire)
Date of Stay: 02/25/12 Review Submitted: 04/09/12

Our family of 5 stayed here while in town for a 4 day event in downtown Colorado Springs. We wanted to have a fun and relaxing place that was not in the middle of the city but was close enough for the repeated trips we made each day. It turned out that the trip to the City Auditorium (where the event was) was an easy 15 minute trip and was also very well located for our sightseeing trips in the area. Being just North of the downtown and close to the highway, it was really easy to go in any direction with little traffic. Every time we drove to or from the house, we saw wildlife which was great. The house itself was fantastic and we spent plenty of time on the deck and in the hot tub. We even brought a movie with us from our home library because we wanted to have a family night in the movie room - which was great. The house will comfortably fit a lot more people than we had (5) but we choose it in part because it would have a number of fun things to do for everyone throughout our stay. The Foosball table was the kid favorite but the pool table was a close second in terms of the finished basement. We also made ice cream floats for the kids at the wet bar in the basement and had a fire one night with the wood provided (very dry and easy to burn). We had great steak on the grill and the kitchen was very nice and perfect for prep and cooking. The kids spent hours exploring the back hill area. The laundry worked great, which is not always the case on our travels (same for hot tub!) and everyone wanted to use the steam shower. And having a garage was a real bonus. And last but not least, because it is always very important when renting, the owner was available and helpful at every step. We have used VRBO before and had great success and it all starts with a good owner - top of the list. All in all we had a great time in C.S. and this home was a big part of that.

Absolutely Fantastic

We spent our Christmas vacation with all our kids and extended family at this beautiful home. We had 10 adults and 2 children and could hardly tell there were that many people in the home. It is set up well for medium to large groups. The owner really bent over backwards to accomodate us at the last minute and she was fantastic to work with. The reservation, deposit, booking, payment, refund issues went without a hitch. Definitely well worth considering if you need a place that will accomodate 10-12 people.

We couldn't have picked a better place to stay on our vacation to Colorado Springs! Within the first hour of arriving, we went out back to walk up the hill and take in the view and almost walked into a deer. During our week stay, we lost count of the deer near the house and around the neighborhood. It was also the perfect location for getting to and from the various attractions we went to. The house had things to offer all three generations we brought -- the relaxing deck, the hot tub, the game room, etc! Sam was WONDERFUL to work with! She had breakfast food waiting for us and we wished we would have waited to see what was at the house before we went grocery shopping. We will definitely stay at the house if we get back to Colorado Springs and we have told our friends to let us know if they ever get to Colorado Springs so we can give them the referral. We are all still talking about the wonderful time we had and the house/location was a big part of it. Don't pass this one up!

Amazing home with spectacular view!

We just wanted to say how impressed we were with this house and our stay in Colorado Springs. We were there for my brother's wedding, and there was plenty of room for our entire extended family and friends to stay. The house was so spread out, even with 15 people staying overnight there, you still had your own "space". Plenty of bathrooms and showers (and hot water!) You really get 2 master suites, the primary master suite on the main floor, but also the first room upstairs has a full en-suite bathroom and queen bed. The theater room downstairs was GREAT! We brought our Wii and played on the big screen (gotta be 70 inches!) all week long. Plenty of seating for meals, and an awesome kitchen. Wetbar downstairs was nice, too. All the decks were wonderful, and we enjoyed them as much as we could for December in Colorado :) AMAZING view over the city/valley from the main deck and kitchen area. The oversized garage was nice, and even our Ford Expedition EL rental car fit with a couple feet to spare. I do recommend 4 wheel drive in the winter in Colorado, though. The driveway is pretty steep, and when it iced over one day, one of our cars kept sliding down to driveway when we tried to put it in park. Nothing a shovel and salt didn't fix, though! And, there was plenty of street parking! Overall, we were more than satisfied with the rental. Met our expectations and more! I can see us renting again next time we are in Colorado Springs!

A Beautiful Home in a Lovely Setting

Guest: Jim & Claudia W. (Livermore, CA)
Date of Stay: 09/21/10 Review Submitted: 10/24/10

My wife and I, our four adult children, their spouses, and our two year old grandson spent a wonderful five nights at this beautiful home while attending a wedding in Colorado Springs. The home is spacious, well furnished, comfortable, and affords an amazing view of the valley below. There is even a play room on the basement level (with pool table, wet bar, giant screen TV and foosball table) in what my wife referred to as the "man cave." My sons and I loved it! What also made the stay enjoyable was the ease in dealing with the owner, Sam. She could not have been more friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this house to everyone!

We stayed at this house when we visited a cadet at USAFA. There were 9 of us and we all had plenty of room to spread out. The house sits on a hill with beautiful views. The deck was very relaxing. I loved the kitchen (we hung out there alot). We found everything we needed for a wonderful stay. The wildlife was great....deer all around and even a bear sighting! The kids had plenty to do with the pool table and media room. I highly recommend it.

Great Getaway in Colorado Springs, CO.

Guest: Diane (Winter Springs, Fl.)
Date of Stay: 08/25/10 Review Submitted: 10/09/10

This house was wonderful for our family get together. It is spacious, clean, large kitchen, which is where you end up spending most of your time, and on the lovely deck off the kitchen that overlooks Colorado Springs. Being in the foothills, gives opportunity to see wildlife too, like deer, which also wander around this area. It was so cool. Also lots of great sightseeing in the area, and smaller towns with character, and lots of good eating and shopping. Loved it!

You will not be disappointed with this house. It is as described. The Owners were great to work with. Our family of 9 was more than pleased with all the amenities, the wildlife included! Kids had lot's to do at the house, yet it was convenient to everywhere. We appreciated the list of local restaurants. The neighborhood Mexican food was the best we have had! Definitely no complaints from us. Our deposit was received very quickly. Thanks for the wonderful family home!! jh

This house was perfect!! Great location, great condition, had so much to offer, and it provided the perfect gathering for our large family group. The best part . . . the owners, they were fantastic. Very easy to work with, answered all our questions, provided great suggestions on area attractions, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. and they take great care of their property. Beautiful home, nice neighborhood, and easy access to anything in Colorado Springs. Highly recommended!!!

Colorado Springs House

We were so impressed with this home & the owners. Sam had music playing upon our arrival and on the counter was a big bowl of fresh fruit with danish & even a vase full of sunflowers! She even thought to leave us milk & orange juice in case we didn't have a chance to go to the store. The house was extremely clean and well cared for. We love sitting in the hot tub at night & looking at all of the beautiful stars. In the morning we would have breakfast on the deck and watch the deer cross right underneath us! They would also come around us at dinner time & if we stood really still they would come right up to the gate! The house is close to Pike's Peak, Manitou Springs, Maintou Cliff Dwellings & so much more. We were all so glad that we chose this house.

Words can not describe how great this house was for our stay in Colorado Springs. The pictures really can not do it justice! We all loved getting up in the morning and enjoying the view from the deck and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub at night. The kids thought it was great that they had their own bedroom and bathroom, and loved playing pool or watching movies. We could not have asked for anything more comfortable or an owner more hospitable-it was just fantastic and we will be looking forward to our next stay here! Also have to say that Montagues coffee shop is a must!

3-Generations Spring Break Vacation

Guest: Vesuvius (Quincy, Illinois)
Date of Stay: 04/02/10 Review Submitted: 04/15/10

This is a house that WELCOMES you----a home away from home, with thoughtful owners. All is set up to accomodate any and all needs easily. It was certainly comfortable and great space for 7 of us to hang out in our own way whenever. The 4 grandchildren were hoping to see a bear on the hillside, but were content with an occasional deer and 3 busy magpies who came every day. Their love of nature was gratified with the hill to climb behind the house. The location made trips to various sites quite easy. We all liked the Cheyenne Mt. Zoo very much, and visits to Garden of the Gods and Cave of the Winds, which had the children talking about stalactites etc. The Pikes Pike climb by car was a great introduction to the mountains for the children. But as much fun and interest that those visits held for us, equally happy times were our hours spent in the house---family games around the kitchen table, being able to prepare our meals.... The owners anticipated our every whim, adding some extra neat touches.----After such fun in Colorado Springs, we headed for Monarch ski area, not far from Salida CO. There the children had their first exposure to lots of skiing. We all have fabulous memories of this vacation!

Wow, we could not have been happier with the choice we made to stay at this property. Awesome, beautiful, spacious, comfortable, close to everything we wanted to do. Even though the house was in a residential area you felt as if you were in a secluded cabin, especially when we saw so much wild life right from the deck which included mule deer, a resident bunny, and a mamma bear and 2 cubs! We had "in-laws," "out-laws," kids, 3 grandchildren, and a sister, all together there was 10 of us that stayed here and we all were able to have our own space. When we were all together, whether it was for a meal or playing a card game, we loved gathering in the kitchen breakfast nook area which was large enough to seat all of us. Adjacent to the breakfast nook was a cozy TV area with a comfy blue jean sofa, so while some played games in the nook, others watched a game on the TV. This area also had a wonderful view of the city by day and night. Along with a pool table and the media room on the bottom level, the hot tub, the spacious living room, and a hill to climb in the back, there is truly something for everybody to do. We can honestly say we enjoyed every minute we were there. We only hope to return again with the other half of our family in the future.

Sam, Just wanted to let you and your husband know once again how great the house was. The house was more than we expected and way more than we could have ever asked for. It worked out perfectly for the San Antonio Firefighter Pipe & Drum Brigade while we were in town for the IAFF Fallen Firefighters Memorial. We look forward to staying at the house again next year!!! Thank you for such wonderful hospitality.

Your place is amazing. We absolutely loved it!! Colorado Springs is a great vacation place! I truly didn't realize how much there was to do there until we actual got there. We didn't even get to half of it and never even golfed!! The raft place we went to - River Runners - was great. Our guide was fun and very experienced. They take rafting very seriously at that place. All employees are basically full time - they told us that a lot of the other places have guides that are college kids that just do this for a summer job. The river was running as fast as it does all year and I was definitely happy that our guide was experienced!! The gave us a $5 discount each for not being a weekend day and then threw in all of the wetsuits and footwear and splash jackets for free. So the $50 raft cost ended up costing $45 each and plus we got $15 of wetsuit stuff. Definitely recommended!! Our guides name was Justin - I think they get paid extra if people request them. Garden of the Gods was amazing. I wish that we would have had more time to hike some of the different trails there. On a funny note...my sister and I think we saw a bear the last night. We were in the hot tub and saw a head (bear head that is) pop up from around the stairs. Needless to say, we freaked out and made our husbands come out on the deck (my husband thought I was joking and didn't even leave the house). By the time my brother-in-law got out there whatever we saw was gone. We all had a very good laugh afterwards. Thanks again for all of the great recommendations!! We thoroughly enjoyed every minute...we just wished that we could have stayed longer!!

We gathered as a family at this beautiful home in Colorado Springs. We came from Colorado, Texas, and Alaska. We couldn't have found a better place to relax and enjoy time together. The home may be in the city, but you definitely feel as if you are in a secluded mountain lodge. The deer in the morning and the beautiful view at night are spectacular. The owners are available to answer any questions and provide any help needed. This house provided anything that a family would want - roominess, family friendly areas, beautiful views, relaxing decks, hot tub, great kitchen, proximity to lots of things to see and do. We would recommend this home to anyone looking for a place to gather and enjoy a great vacation. We would definitely return in the future!

I was a part of the worship team that stayed at this house in September 2008. This was by far the most relaxing vacation house I have ever stayed. Every morning I enjoyed a cup of coffee on the deck looking over the Colorado landscape. I'm already talking to my husband about returning in Summer 2009 for a family vacation!

I was in charge of researching lodging for our worship team retreat. This was the diamond in the rough! This was better than home! We had 10 team members and there was plenty of room for everyone. Even when we were all in the kitchen there was plenty of room. The attention to detail was amazing. The owners knew we were coming for the New Life Worship Leaders conference, so they even had the local christian radio station playing when we arrived. That's detail! We had a great experience. We'll definitely stay again when we travel to the Springs!

Our family (3 boys) stayed in this beautiful home for a week at the end of July 2008. The owners were new to the rental scene, however, they were very accommodating in fielding and answering any questions we had regarding the house or Colorado Springs in general. The house and yard are very beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Our boys were extremely content to play in the wooded area up and behind the house - those are some of their favorite memories of our trip! Wild life abounds and they befriended both deer and rabbits that frequented the yard during our stay. The outdoor hot tub provides a wonderful view of the surrounding suburbs/city, and many of our meals were eaten outside on the deck. The owners provided recommendations on both area attractions, as well as local eateries that were wonderful. The house is conveniently located (only minutes) to most all of Colorado Springs' vacation attractions: Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Cliff Dwellings, the Olympic Training Center, etc. The house was very clean and well kept and we would definitely recommend it to family and friends.
