My husband and I shared the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom Patio Suite with another couple for 10 days, and we enjoyed it very much. The place was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable, which is very important! We also enjoyed the privacy of our own patio space, where we spent a lot of time. We rented a car for the whole time, and we got to travel to different hotels, and many different restaurants. The driving is very fast paced in Puerto Rico, so be careful. One of our favorites is Kasalta's Bakery, which has wonderful coffee (espresso). Our only complaint is that the time passed too quickly before we had to head home to Boston. We love Puerto Rico! Thank you, Monique and GerryRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The villa was amazing inside and out! All of the rooms are very clean, roomy and comfortable. The exterior was beautiful with a mango tree hanging over the guest house in the back. The patio is big enough to fit a large group of people with 3 grills around the house which was perfect for our 15+ person cookout! It's also in a great location just a block and a half from the beach.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

I started my online search for a property that would lodge between 15-20 in Puerto Rico back in August 2011. I wanted a place where a group of family and friends could gather to celebrate my son and my niece graduating from college. I am SOOOOOOOOO glad I came upon Los Colibris and Monique, the property manager, who impressed me right away with her professionalism. Our arrival date was scheduled for June 8, 2012 and I wanted to give our group plenty of time to determine if they wanted to come and be able to take care of the lodging in advance. As it turned out, we had 16 people total and used every unit in the villa (our ages ranged from 17 to 82). Of course, this took some coordination efforts on all our parts but it came together just fine. Monique was courteous, thorough, and excellent in communicating with everyone who contacted her to set up their lodging. She is very experienced and can answer every question you can possibly imagine regarding the property and the island. We were all thrilled to see the property was absolutely perfect for our needs and true to the pictures on the website. I don't know if we could have imagined it to be a better fit for each person than it was. The units were very clean, comfortable, and well decorated. The patio areas were great for impromptu gatherings or for quiet reading. We also had a wonderful cook out there that was one of the many highlights of our vacation. We were around the corner from the beach, close to quaint, very authentic restaurants as well as more upscale eateries, casinos, shopping, etc. Old San Juan, the Bacardi Rum factory and the El Yunque Rain Forest were all very doable to where we were staying. The only issue was that we had problems with some of the patio chairs wanting to give way and when I mentioned this to Monique we were really impressed to see there was a new set of sturdier chairs within a day. I cannot think of anything that could have been improved upon regarding this property and would highly recommend it to anyone. My husband and I can't wait to visit again. Gracias to you Monique for all you did to provide a comfortable, "home setting" for this special occasion. We will never forget it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

There are many words that could describe my stay here at Los Colibris but one that sticks out is UNFORGETTABLE! My wife and I were able to make ourselves at home and every bit of our time here was just great. Having roots on the island I have never felt as welcomed and taken care of. Thank You Monique and Gerry for being so hospitable. Your maps and suggestions we on the money and the beach just around the corner was absolutely amazing! If you want to see the island then a car is needed but if you just want a place to hide out for a few days then no car is really needed. There is so much more I can say! We are already planning our return! Haha! Yes the Projects are just a few streets down the road but hey people it's not that bad! Haha!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Leanna and William, it was our pleasure! We look forward to seeing you again. Monique and Gerry

We found Monique and Gerry's Los Colibris just as described, with the units being clean, quiet, professionally managed, and just two blocks from the best beach in the area. The completely uncrowded beach had some shaded areas and a beautiful vista, which included a couple of afternoon rainbows. We regularly walked for miles along the contiguous Ocean Park and Condado beaches. Some may find a rental car useful, particularly for getting a lot of groceries or going out later in the evening. Monique and Gerry were both so accommodating and helpful with information about the area. Upon inquiring casually if there might be a blender on the property, one magically appeared in our unit (Monique and Gerry's personal blender) while we were out for our last evening beach walk! Thanks for a relaxing visit. We would definitely recommend this property to others planning a trip to San Juan.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the Agua suites for 8 nights. Our family loved the apartment and location. The apt was only 2 blocks from the beautiful beach. We were able to walk the best bakery in town. Monique and her husband gave us great information about the area restaurants and activities. The patio was a wonderful place to just sit and relax. It was so peaceful. We will hopefully be back one day.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at El Prado Villas for 2 weeks in July, a family of 9. The apartments were just like home. It had all the amenities you could think about. Very secure and very clean. Every morning we had breakfast outside on the terrace. Great beach and park within walking distance, huge supermarket nearby "Super Max" and close to the highway. A car is a must if you want to move around. Great Chinese food delivery and much more restaurants nearby. I would definitely recommend this property, already have and will definitely stay here again. Keep up the good work Monique.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Lorraine and Kary, thank you! Your big, lovely, happy family will be remembered, always laughing, the little girls dispensing hugs, and the delicious aromas of Lorraine's cooking... Monique

We arrived late into the airport and Monique and her husband met us at the property. We rented 2 units since there were 7 of us. The units were clean and had a nice patio area. The downside is that is you walk about 2 blks away from the beach you are at the projects. This is not an area you want to walk in after dark or even during the day. The beach was nice but if you stay here, rent a car. The taxis are expensive after a time. Buses do not run on a regular schedule. My son got married while we were here and Monique recommended a place for all of us girls to get our hair done on the day of the wedding, which was a Sunday and hard to find an open salon. When we do come back to San Juan we will look in the Isla Verde area instead,Recommended for: Adventure seekers
Owner response: Karla, thank you for your "4-star review". I'm happy you liked the property and that I could help you out when your arriving flight was horribly delayed and when you couldn't find a Beauty Salon open on a Sunday. I agree you should have rented a car if you were going to be spending all your time in Isla Verde. But about the area, I fear you were influenced by an unscrupulous Taxi Driver who wanted to scare you into calling her every time you went anywhere... Our guests/tenants have been walking around the Gated Neighborhood of Ocean Park for the past 15 years, and never had a single incident. All the high-income beach areas have a project near (the government's idea back then was to keep Domestic Help close to their places of employment), ...including Isla Verde, which has "Playita"! One really has to go out of one's way to be close to any of them! If you don't go looking for trouble, it won't come looking for you. And you could have saved all that Taxi money...

Our family was in San Juan for a wedding at the Mariott. We decided to stay at Los Colibris with two other families. It was a perfect setup for us - and much more affordable than the Marriott. We were able to have breakfasts together, sit on the patio, walk to the nearby beach, etc. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean...just as pictured on this site. Monique is very helpful and accomodating, giving us maps of favorite spots and menus from nearby restaurants. We enjoyed our time here and would return.Owner response: Hi John & Kathy, thanks for your good words, and also for staying with us! Hope to see you again.

What a wonderful and charming place to stay! Clean, airy, and roomy. Location was great, convenient to Condado, Old San Juan, and major highways, yet the house is tucked in a quiet gated neighborhood. Loved Monique! She is wonderful and very helpful. I will definatley be going back to stay at Los Colibris! Thanks for your wonderful hospitality Monique!!!Owner response: Thank YOU, Melissa...it was a real pleasure seeing you happy.
