Located mid-Cape, off Exit 5 on Route 6, an ideal location for exploring all of Cape Cod. Home is on a very private lot which is wooded (can't see the neighbors) and abuts conservation property. Enjoy outdoor living with private hot tub and barbeque on the large deck. Enjoy coffee in the screened in sunroom. A five minute drive through historic West Barnstable takes you to Sandy Neck Beach, one of the Cape's best beaches--six miles of pristine beach on the North side of Cape Cod Bay. Three miles to Lake Wequaquet's freshwater beach and boat ramp. One mile to a public golf course. Walk to conservation areas in West Barnstable for miles of bike trails and hiking. Great antiquing nearby. Provincetown is a great day trip via auto or bus. Ten minutes to Hyannis for shopping and movies on rainy days. This was our first time to get together with my wife's family for Thanksgiving and the Cape House was the perfect place. Everything from the size of the house to the amenities was great. Beth already had everything we needed for our Thanksgiving Dinner in the kitchen. The open layout of the house was cozy enough to catch up with family members, while at the same time you could find a place to have some personal time for ones self. The house had everything that one could need and feel like you were at your own home. We were very grateful that Beth allowed us to have our dogs, Bella and Buxton, with us since they are considered our children. They too, enjoyed the roominess of the first floor. Thanks again Beth for you wonderful hospitality and look forward to going to the Cape House again.

Beth's home was the perfect place for our family. There was a very comfortable, warm feeling about the house and we immediately felt at home. The many windows and skylights brought tons of light into the living areas and allowed for a nice breeze on those warm summer days. We took full advantage of every amenity: the hot tub, the beautiful Weber grill, we kept our bikes and beach gear in the garage, air conditioners kept the two upstairs bedrooms cool.....and the amenity we were most grateful for: your neighbor David, who dog sat our golden retriever on four of our seven days in West Barnstable. He was unbelievable with our dog, and was so incredibly accommodating. We were able to go out and explore Cape Cod without feeling guilty about leaving our dog behind...yet, could still have him around when we were home. It was such an incredible bonus to our vacation! We were very sad to leave but are hoping to be back again next year. Thank you again for a perfect vacation!

We just returned from staying at the Cape House in the woods and we loved it. The house was perfect for our family with amazing light and lots of space. The bedrooms were large, the beds and pillows very comfortable and the linens were good quality. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots and pans, bbq tools, nice Weber gas bbq, gas stove and spices so you don't have to bring or buy them. We cooked lots of our meals and made coffee every morning. We enjoyed eating on the back deck and in the sun porch when it was a bit windy. The location was good and we even enjoyed walking (2 miles) to the village store and a playground (we have a 2 year old). We spent lots of time enjoying Barnstable and the beaches especially Sandyneck. Beth kindly supplies guests with a resident beach pass which saves you buckets of money. The beaches are good and we tried them all. We also drove up to the National Shore one day. We had the chance to meet Beth when we lost power due to Hurricane Irene. She kindly offered that we visit and stay with her in Nantucket and we took her up on it. The trip to Nantucket was extraordinary thanks to her hospitality, home cooking, great conversation and nice wine! She showed us around, took us to a great beach and then loaned us her car for the day. She's a wonderful woman and I highly recommend the Cape House.

From the moment we drove up the driveway and arrived at this beautiful, peaceful home I felt such a sense of calm infuse my senses. Surrounded by whispering pine trees, this lovely gem is clearly lovingly maintained and cherished by its owner. It is the perfect spot for a sweet getaway and completely private. The town of West Barnstable, a short, 5 minute drive away, is what the Cape should be - lovely historic homes, wonderful restaurants and a harbor area with a scenic beach used primarily by residents and featuring calm waters warm enough to swim in. A great place to enjoy one of the spectacular Cape sunsets. Our vacation was everything we could have hoped for and more. I'm already planning our next visit!

I have been coming to the Cape every summer for almost all my life (50+ years) and have stayed at most of the summer stay scenerios (on the beach, near the beach, away from the beach), however, I have never had the experience, until now, of having all aspects of the Cape, including peace and serenity. This home is nestled in a quite, private settling just minutes from quaint surrounding towns, the beaches and even the larger mall type stores on Rt 134 if that's your thing. This past week has been the most relaxing and enjoyable I have had in a long time. From cooking out on the Weber grill, reading in the shade covered deck to enjoying a warm hot tub session. Thank you for a most wonderul vacation to our most gracious "off-site" hostess. Next year it's two weeks!

Having come such a long way from Melbourne to visit our son and family in Boston, my husband and I had always wanted to visit the Cape Cod region, and it was worth every minute of our time, using your beautiful home as our base. Thank you so much for allowing us to share the history, the diversity of terrain and scenery, the autumn colours and a week of sunny weather here. We particularly enjoyed our time on breathtaking Nantucket. What an island! It's as if a little piece of England has been picked up and put there. Of course the grey shingled cottages are pure Nantucket, but the cobbled streets, coach lights and tiny white cottages are very English. Magically we had a flying visit from our son and grandson, who both enjoyed their time here. The house just lends itself perfectly to children. Our 2 year old grandson,Heath, loved the play equipment, and "forest" at the back of your house, and the long beach at nearby Sandy Neck. To round off our wonderful week we drove on route 6A through a network of tiny villages to Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod. It was beautiful! We walked for miles along the narrow streets of this historic sea-port and enjoyed a superb lunch at the "Lobster Pot". My grilled scallops and Peter's chowder were perfect. We even had a table with a view over the sun drenched beach--wow! To sum up, we thoroughly recommend this beautifully maintained Cape Cod home.

Thank you for an amazing vacation--the house was wonderful and provided a great home for the week. My fiance and I visit the Cape often in the summer to see our friends who live in Centerville, but our week here was by far the best trip. We went to Craigville Beach once--which was extremely windy. My fiance's family brought us out on the boat to visit the Islands--beautiful weather both days. Martha's Vineyard was something new to see. Overall a good vacation--thanks for opening your house to us!

This has been our first vacation in the U.S. and following brief stops in New York and Boston the slower pace was welcome! Highlights included the Duck Tour in Hyannis, the day trip to Nantucket, browsing the shops in a rain soaked Provincetown and a day on Craigville Beach in Centerville. The house has been the perfect base for our exploration. We would definitely return.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2007

About the owner: Avid interests include organic gardening, cooking, and swimming. I live on Nantucket most of the time with Sophie Dawg, hens, goats, pigs and ducks. My 'day job' is as a practicing psychologist.

Why the Owner Chose West Barnstable:
Especially off season, it's great to get off Island and this home is a great launching pad for other travels. During the high season I hunker down on Nantucket, and rent this home. It's in a great location, very central Cape Cod, in a very quiet neighborhood with conservation woods in the back which Sophie loves.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
The outdoor hot tub on a starry night! The fireplace in the winter. The ample windows and skylights lend the impression of living outside.
