We were so very happy with our visit to Casa de Yates! The description was very accurate, it was everything the write up said it was! Very clean and well equipped, our whole family stayed and immensely enjoyed the property. The location to the fish market and the town, the bus and Bucerias, was great, and the pool was fabulous! Can't wait to get back! Highly recommend this to any family, thanks Linda and Charlie!

Palapa de Yates

There are three properties at Casa de Yates. This review is for Palapa de Yates. I had a practical reason for staying at the Palapa de Yates. I was hauling my sailboat out at the La Cruz Shipyard which is next to the marina in La Cruz. It was the perfect location to stay while my boat was being worked on, but had the advantage of a sensational view of the entire marina, the sailboat anchorage outside the marina, and of course, Banderas Bay. The palapa itself is really exceptional. It is very spacious, nicely decorated, with unique architectural features. I shared it with my brother and a buddy who helped me sail the boat up to La Cruz, but I would definitely return for a stay for its intended purpose, a great, romantic getaway for a couple wanting beautiful views, privacy, and a great kitchen for cooking at home. It's priced right, too.

Casa Vista De Yates

We spent two weeks at this beautiful property. It was very clean and nicely maintained. The beds were very comfortable. Located 4 or 5 blocks from the little town of La Cruz, we were able to walk just about anywhere we wanted to go. There is a fresh fish market just down below the casa with fabulous fish to grill. Very quiet area. The property manager was very helpful and always only a phone call away. I would highly recommend this property for a relaxing vacation and hope we get to go again.

Great Place

Just returned from staying at Casa Vista De Yates. Beautiful home with lovely yard surrounding the pool and nice courtyard. House was furnished nicely, plenty of couches for lounging. We enjoyed the house and pool. Pictures show the house nicely. Early morning views of the mountains across the bay which had several sailboats. Short walk to the beach, marina and yacht club. The property manager was very helpful with info on the area, location of stores, ATMs and returned calls promptly. Was johnny on the spot when I locked us out and called her for help! Would rent again when returning to Puerto Vallarta.

Enjoyable Mexico

Two families (total 10 adult people) booked both the house and the adjoining casitas over the Christmas holidays. The entire compound is a lovely garden and very welcoming. The house and apartments were clean with comfortable beds. At first we were a bit surprised that we were backing onto the fish market as well as the marina but it does not interfere with the view or the privacy of the homes. The location is great as you can walk 1/2 block to the beach or a couple of blocks into the town centre and find some great restaurants. Glorieta de Enrique's was great for seafood and Mexican fare as was the small taco stand on the busy road leading into La Cruz. We rented cars and checked out other towns and beaches. It was a wonderful quiet spot to return to each day. Beach chairs and towels are available at the house as well. This property worked well for a large number of people and we enjoyed it very much. Thank you Linda and Charlie.

Rented this property five times in 2010.First time arrived to find the house already filled."WHAT"??They moved those guests next door to the Palapa so we could have our week. The house was filthy and only cleaned for an hour before we were given the keys.Oh well were on vacation and things are a little different in Mexico. No problema. Most recent stay11/13/10 Have the house reserved for two nights and then to move to the casita and palapa for two nights.Time to move next door the palapa has other Guests staying in it.WHAT??Had to get a hotel for the rest of the group.Seems over booking is par for the course.Cute little property but the hassles are not worth it.Don't recommend it so many other choices.

Owner response:We strive to make our guests happy and are saddened when we have a negative report about our home. Dave is an avid sports fisherman and his yacht is moored in La Cruz Marina in front of our property. He enjoys fishing and so we had always given him a VERY reasonable rate for his summer visits. His first visit was July 2010. On arrival he told our property manager of his unhappiness with the cleanliness of our home.Yes someone had moved out that day because he was coming. Additionally Dave expected to have all three properties unoccupied since it was summer season, but we had explained that we could not guarantee that unless he rented the all three properties. Our manager was surprised, but asked our cleaning person to return the next day to clean again- we paid for this extra, second cleaning.Dave was pleased and repeatedly told our property manager that everything was great. He was so pleased in fact, that he asked our cleaning person to come down and clean his yacht, which she did. We offered him a free visit in August to make up for the cleaning “problem”. He gladly accepted the free stay to entertain friends on a fishing trip. Since July 2010 he returned 4 times to our home and never had any additional complaints. Our manager was very diligent about making sure to ask him if everything was okay, and he always gave her a positive response. Unfortunately, on Dave's last visit 2 weeks ago, we did have a situation that was difficult for all of us. We had rented both of our casitas to Dave for two days. A couple came in who were having an emergency repair with their boat and had planned to stay one week, which would not have interfered with Dave's reservation. But as Murphy's Law would have it, their boat was not fixed in time- they asked to stay on. Then the water system for one of the units Dave had rented failed and we were trying to get it repaired and take care of everyone. Mr. Fender's fishing guests arrived before he did. Our manager explained the situation to them and asked the fishing guests to stay in our “extra room” (a 500 square foot “hotel room” we have with full bath, but no kitchen). They offered to stay on Dave's yacht instead. When Dave arrived he was understandably upset about the inconvenience. We offered to return his money for the missed nights and apologized. We consistently work very hard to please our guests and help them to feel comfortable in our home, but regrettably Dave seems a difficult person to please.

Great property setting and residences - very flexible, cooperative owner, manager and maid

We rented the palapa for a short time in order to get our boat ready for the season. We found severe problems with the boat which have taken more time and still not sure of a finish date. When we arrived the maid greated us with a big smile and handed us the keys and showed the property. Palapa Vista De Yates is a beautiful and bright place, outside balcony with a great view of the marina and bay, full kitchen, very cold referigerator and plenty of windows for cross ventilation. It has A/C but we haven't had to use it. The palapa roof is amazing. The garden is private and secure and very well maintained. Although the palapa did not come with an off street parking space, the owners did allow us to park in the secured garage. The owner has been great in working with us to maintain a place to stay while we work on the boat. Her manager and maid are also good to work with both are responsive and dependable. We've seen the main house and it is beautiful. As an architect by profession I think the residences are exquisite and are beautiful appointed. We highly recommend all three units and would love to come back.

great house!

Guest: Dee 2010 (Calgary, Alberta, Canada)
Date of Stay: 04/13/10 Review Submitted: 05/18/10

We stayed here for 2 weeks in April 2010. It is a very nice house with good facilities. The rooms are large, and the beds are comfortable. It was a treat to have the swimming pool at our convenience! The yard had a view from paradise! Our stay was very private, as nobody was staying at the adjoining property at the time.It was nice to have a garage to park our rental car in! The house has a water filtration system, so no worries about bad water. We drank bottled water though. There is a water truck that comes around, so you can buy your water there. There is a water cooler in the house to put your bottled water on. We loved being able to B.B.Q. There is the option of different services available( at extra cost) through the concierge service. Also, some of the facilities are extra charge, such as air conditioning, and extra water. We had to buy some staple supplies as well, such as extra toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, bathroom cleaner, cooking oil, laundry soap, sugar, etc. There were minor issues with flushing the toilets. You can't flush toilet paper. Sometimes we had to flush 4 or 5 times to get everything down.Thank goodness there are 3 bathrooms in the house! There is a marina and fish market near by. I love walking there and watching the fishermen. My dad and husband hired a private fishing boat to take them fishing. They came home with snapper! We bought a bunch of seafood from the market and cooked a feast! La Cruz De Huanacaxtle is a short walk or drive. There are lots of great restaurants to choose from. Our favorite is eating from the taco stands. The food is always great, and we've never had issues with getting sick. There is also Subway in town square, and a great little coffee place next to it. There seems to always be something happening around town. If its not a flea market, then its a circus or carnival! Night time can sometimes be a bit noisy if you are not prepared for it. The local bars play music, and we got to hear fireworks throughout the night a few times.Nightlife in La Cruz is good. Good entertainment too. There can be days filled with so many things to do, or you can just relax in the yard or the local beaches! If you like an all-inclusive resort type holiday, this might not be right for you, but if you like privacy, and exploring a more " authentic" type of holiday, I highly recommend it. Thankyou Linda, for having us! We will be back!

Owner response:Our house was purchased in 2008 and we are now realizing that we must have "roto-rooter" cleaning on our mexican sewer pipes on a regular basis. We didn't want to disrupt our guests with this work while they were there, but did it immediately after they left. All pipes have been cleaned, as well as a thorough cleaning of our holding tank, and everything is working properly now, and, yes, you can use toilet paper.

Comment Text: Our week in La Cruz, in particular in this lovely home, was simply the best way to start off the year 2010; even the weather cooperated. We loved the traditional ambiance of the village and friendliness of the people. We would definitely love to come back!

I had a very enjoyable overnight stay. Everything was in first rate condition. My friends and I were able to enjoy a short walk in the evening to a delightful street vendor in La Cruz where we ate and enjoyed the atmosphere. Very comfortable, safe and clean.
