400 square feet of living space right in the middle of your own small redwood park with 178 feet of the most pristine river in the U.S.. There is a completely furnished kitchen over looking a rose and vegetable garden and a cement patio with a table, umbrella, and a charcoal BBQ. The queen size bed is a select comfort with controls on each side of the bed for firmness and a hide-a-bed coach(queen) is available. The satellite TV is furnished with HBO, Showtime, and a sports package. Wireless high speed internet is also available.
A short walk to the river through a grove of huge redwoods and a hammock to wile away the afternoons in the summer makes you realize you are in God's country. There is a picnic table over looking the river and a small fire pit. Fall brings salmon and steelhead fishing and in the summer swimming in crystal clear water. We are located approximately 9 miles North of Crescent City and 12 miles South of the Oregon border. Jedediah Smith State Parks is six miles east and the ocean about 4 miles west. We also have two casino's, one five miles away. We are surrounded by hiking trails, for short and long walks.

My mom and I have had a wonderful time. So relaxing and great hospitaliy. John and ruthann are very kind and enerous. Our dogs have enjoyed the river front. We hope to come back again...... Thanks for sharing your beautiful place with us. I can't imaine a more comfortable place to stay.

The jam, berries and smoked salmon were delicious. Our dogs Burton and Chaco enjoyed the freedom. Happy 50th anniversary to a beautiful couple.

we can'tthank you enough you were the BEST. This was our first big vacation as a family of 4 and your home was te perfect place to spend it. We loved ther strawberry jam and picking fresh berries from your garden. Some day soon when the fishing is HOT as they say we hope to be back. I am not surprised that you will be celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary this month because you two truly are amazing wonderful people.

This is a studio off the garage of a very nice home on the Smith river. It is comfortable and private enough. The people who own this are very friendly and willing to please. The river and redwoods are amazing. Thank you for a nice stay with our family. Sorry so late in reviewing- we stayed last summer for almost 2 weeks.
Recommended for:Pet owners, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

John and Ruth have a great little retreat. We especially enjoyed the smell of homemade bread when we arrived and Ruth leaves you a jar of homemade raspberry jam to go along with it. This cottage has everything you need. Very comfortable for 2 people and beautiul surroundings. We enjoyed sitting by the river and enjoying the quiet. Thank you John and Ruth for a very delightful and peaceful place.

We traveled from the Ozark mountains to see this magical place. This was a life long dream and it was more than we had hoped for. John and Ruthann you welcomed us as if we were old friends and yet we had never met! However we leave with heavy hearts, feeling like we are parting from family.
