  I can't say enough great things about our experience at "The Pelican House"! Everything was absolutely wonderful. Perfect location, house was very clean, property well maintained, comfortable beds/furniture, great kitchen, awesome decks, super-easy beach access, etc, etc. We have a family with small children, so the location was perfect. Very peaceful spot away from the busy main beach areas. The house has everything a family needs, even tons of little extras ....pool/pingpong table, a bunch of extra nightlights for the kids, games, books about local attractions, etc. Also.....the hot tub on the screened in porch was an AWESOME bonus! No complaints and would highly recommend.

  Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

  We rented the house for several days with some friends and had a small, private wedding ceremony on the beach behind the house. We very much enjoyed the house! Plenty of space for everyone, enjoyed the pool table, the kitchen is big and open, the bedrooms are spacious and nice. The listing is accurate. The location is at the end of Folly Beach, so even though the beach is public, it seemed quite private and we were not disturbed during the wedding ceremony at all. The owners were very easy to work with and very speedy with returning our security deposit after our stay. The house is very close to the Folly Beach Fishing Pier, and close to some great restaurants (Like Rita's - you MUST try the chicken and pancakes there!). I was very happy that we chose this house and I would recommend it! I only wish they allowed pets in the house- we would have gladly paid extra security deposit for them. That was the only thing that we were missing during our stay!

  To celebrate my mom's 70th, our family came from all over the country. None of us had ever been to Folly Beach so we were a little nervous about booking a house sight unseen. That's why I decided to write a review so that others considering staying here will have an idea of how awesome this place is. First of all, the house is located at the far end of the island so the beach was not crowded. The deck to the beach is convenient and the house is close to the beach so even when we didn't want to get in the sand, we could sit on the back decks and be right on the ocean. The beach is flat and easy to walk/run (even play soccer) on and there was a constant breeze so we never got too hot. We saw dolphins nearly every morning and evening and on our first morning a couple of the early risers got to see some baby sea turtles make their way from their nest to the ocean. The house itself is spacious and I cannot say enough good things about the kitchen. It has a 6 burner stove top which was great for our large family. There were ample pots, pans, utensils in the house for cooking and we loved the gas grill. We had 13 people of all ages from 6 - 70 years and the house had accommodations for all of us. They have changed the bedrooms around so that on the top floor there are 3 Q rooms and one room with 4 twin beds. The bottom floor has the King master and another room with a door on it that has a nice pullout couch so it is really like another bedroom. There is plenty of room in this house for a large family to hang out together. The house was neat and clean and everything in it seemed relatively new and well-maintained The local owner, Kelly, is awesome, providing anything we needed as well as some good recommendations of where to eat, shop, etc. on the island. In addition, Folly Beach is 20-25 minutes away from Charleston so we were able to take a day trip in although some decided they just couldn't leave the beach. We had an amazing week at this fantastic house!

  Over-the-top awesome! Beyond our expectations! We had 13 for Easter Sunday dinner with plenty of room for cooking and eating. The kitchen was fantastic, great appliances with plenty of dishes, untensils, pots and pans, etc. The living room with pool/ping pong table and huge comfy couches provided hours of fun for all. Selecting our bedrooms when we arrived was so much fun! The master bedroom with private deck and hot tub access was fab but I preferred the upper bedroom with private sitting room opening onto ocean deck! Just gorgeous. Tons of closet space, tv in every room, wall decor, every little detail made this house so great. Location was really nice; could walk to pier, or explore the natural area in the other direction. The owners were great; they answered my emails right away, and Kelly was easily available to help us out with a question or two. We would definitely recommend this house and we are planning to rent it again. By far, our most favorite memory was having our morning coffee on the front deck while watching the dolphins leap directly in front of the house every morning!!

  The house is amazing, and the people that own it , are even more amazing. Due to hurrican Irene, we were not aware of the damage it had caused to the beach house. When we arrived we noticed that from the back porch, the steps had been blown away. I was getting married and planned to walk down those steps less than 24 hours away!! I was being a bride and was freaking out!!! We called Kelly and she sent out a contractor to fix this right away, and was fixed that day, and was durable the whole trip. She saved our wedding and no words can express really how we felt. The house had more than we thought when it came to plates, and serving utensils. The wi-fi worked great. Everything was a true blessing, even the weather!!! We recieved our deposit back before 30 days. I would recomend this house to anyone who needs a get a way!!! Thank you so much for a great wedding, a great house, and awesome hospitality!!

  While we watched the video tour on YouTube several times, we were astonished by how beautiful this beach house was! From the moment we walked in the front door to the moment we finished bringing in our bags, we were exclaiming over every detail and ammenity with great enthusiasm. The baby in the group had a blast zooming all over the downstairs in her walker, and the adults enjoyed the pool table and mostly-private beach. The 'cooks' and professional chef in the house enjoyed the beautiful kitchen and utilized every aspect of so much space. Cooking and baking pots and pans left a little to be desired, but we could have fed a small army with the dishes and flatware supplied, and they would have been able to sit together at the large table. Homes this large really should have a second fridge, cause we had trouble storing all the food for such a big group and keeping a full ice bucket. The spacious deck and short boardwalk to the beach allowed non-beach-goers to enjoy the scenery and sounds, while beachers could bypass the daily grind of packing of a drink cooler. The house was clean, well-kept, well-furnished, and a small issue with one of the A/C units was addressed quickly and effeciently to ensure we were comfortable the rest of the week. The only thing more our group could ask for is a swimming pool, but this house definitely ranks up as one, perhaps THE, best we've rented (and we've rented a LOT). I would recommend this house to families who wish for a little luxury during their vacation. We definitely plan to return to Folly!

  This is a great house. We had a group of 10 (two couples, two college-age girls, four boys 6-11) and there was easily enough space for another couple or small family. The kitchen is one of the most important things during a week-long family stay, and this one is well-equipped and spacious, with a large dinner table plus bar seating, and plenty of dishes, silverware, and cookware. The location is far enough from the pier and from the county park that even on a beautiful weekend the beach was not crowded in front of the house. Bedrooms are nicely appointed, bathrooms are plentiful with great two-head showers. Price is north of average, but absolutely worth it if you're looking for a spacious, comfortable beachfront house.

  We loved the access to the beach and the decks! Also the house was down away from the busy part of the beach so our wedding ceremony on the beach was private and undisturbed. The kitchen was wonderful, Even the utensils supplied was surprising. The master suites were luxurious. The house was very clean too. And plenty of parking. Overall a superb experience! Kelly and Nicholas were great and very easy to communicate with. We would recommend this house for sure!

  We rented the first weekend in Nov 09 for our son's wedding. The weather was great & the house was gorgeous!! I instantly fell in love with it. It was perfect for us. The view was spectacular!! I would definitly recommend it and would love to come back.

  This property met and exceeded our expectations. We have rented from realty companies in the past so I was a little wary of renting through this website, but the rental process was super easy and my contact addressed any questions or concerns I had in a timely manner. This was our 7th annual trip to Folly Beach and this was probably the best property we've stayed in so far. The house was in excellent condition, and exactly as described, except for one thing. In the photos there is a TV in the living room, which there is not any more, although there are TVs in all the other rooms so it was no big deal. There was plenty of room to accomodate 12 people. We would definitely rent this house again in the future. Thanks!
