THE FLAMINGO is the perfect beach house for a week long family vacation or just a weekend getaway! With all of the amenities needed in a great community, including two pools, (NO WHEELCHAIR ACCESS AT THE POOLS), tennis courts, and private beach access. The Flamingo is poolside (about 25 steps away!) and is located in the private beach community of Morgantown and has two pools, two lighted tennis courts, and private beach access. You can keep an eye on the kids in the pool while you enjoy the views from our covered deck. What convenience! We are located in the private beach community of Morgantown, which is an upscale, clean, and family-friendly neighborhood. The Flamingo sits beachside with visibility of the Gulf of Mexico and beautiful sunsets. It is just a short walk to the beautiful sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico.
This fully-equipped beach house has everything you need, so just bring your swimsuit, beach towels, and beach chairs! The first floor is completely wheelchair accessible, including master bedroom, bathroom with roll-in shower, kitchen, and deck that overlooks the pool and a view of the Gulf of Mexico. The Flamingo has an outdoor shower available to rinse off sand and also an outdoor picnic table.
15 Golf Courses in the area! Fort Morgan Marina is five minutes away offering daily fishing charters. Gulf Shores fishing is known for beautiful Red Snapper and huge Grouper! Also, we recommend you leaving your worries and stresses of work behind, but if it is a must you can stay connected by using our free broadband Wi-Fi Internet connection. This 3 bedroom and 2.5 bath fully furnished beach home has been the destination of choice for many beach seekers over the past several years. We have many repeat guests every year with some coming in for months at a time. We feel that this is the ultimate compliment! We think that you will not find a better value anywhere in Gulf Shores. Our private beach access, pool and tennis, the shopping, the golfing, Civil War Fort Morgan-Alabama State Historic Site, the museums, the fishing, the restaurants, the concerts, the beaches, the Mobile Bay Ferry, the sunsets, and the National Shrimp Festival are all awaiting you! Our location is perfect. We are located in the private beach community of Morgantown right on the Fort Morgan peninsula. The Flamingo is Gulf side and is walking distance down (about three minutes on our private boardwalk) to the sugar white beaches! We are far enough away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Gulf Shores yet only a 15 minute drive into town. You get the R&R that you deserve but can still access all that Gulf Shores and Orange Beach has to offer. Looking to decompress? You can sleep in late here, throw a steak on the grill, and then take a walk on the beach. It's only a three minute walk down to our private beach access or you can drive it in 15 seconds and park at the beach. That's what we normally do since we can load up our beach supplies and just park at the beach. No loud music and crowds here in our private beach community. Looking to party or celebrate? Take your choice of all the attractions in Gulf Shores and nearby Orange Beach. Need to stay connected? An internet Wi-Fi connection is here. National Shrimp Festival is Oct. 11-14, 2012. A must see and do event! Many love to visit the world famous Flora-Bama bar. Don't forget the annual Mullet Toss! Need a slot machine or blackjack fix? Biloxi, MS is just down I-10. No less than six Vegas style casinos are available. Need a history lesson? Fort Morgan and the Fort Morgan Museum is just five minutes away. It's the Civil War Fort famous for 'Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!' Need to get 'gone fishing?' Fort Morgan Marina is only about five minutes away and have daily charters. The Fort Morgan Pier is a public fishing pier as well and it's only about five minutes away. It's a great place to take the kids and watch the boats unload their catch.

We take pride in treating our guests just like we like to be treated when away on vacation ourselves. We believe in 'The Golden Rule'.

Our family had a great stay at the Flamingo. With a husband in a chair, two kids, and a labradoodle, we needed a functional place with accessibility within the house. This met all of our needs. The inside of the house was very clean, and my husband was able to access the entire first floor. The extra rooms upstairs were great for the kids and for my in-laws who came to stay some during our trip. The location is convenient to the pool and the beach boardwalk. There's a great place to hang out and for the kids to play under the house and around, and having the outdoor shower was a great bonus. We have no complaints about this rental and are already recommending it to others.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

I have to say I had a awesome stay here . My children had a wonderful time at the pool it is in your back yard pretty much. The home owner was wonderful and very easy to deal with . We will be back next year for our family vacation. This was our 3rd vacation at the Flamingo. We love it!! The location is perfect for kids. The area is so safe, we love the peaceful atmosphere. It's a quick drive to all the entertainment in Gulf Shores. My kids love the access to the pool. Loved the house and the ramp came in handy for all of our goings and comings. House was fully equipped with all your needs except paper products which we were warned to bring. Owners were great to work with and even made a drive from Birmingham to change a light bulb(Sounded like an excuse to get to the beach to me). Our dogs were at home, loved the tile floors, but had to watch out for the sand spurs. Another good feature was being able to watch the grandsons while they played in the pool from the deck overlooking the pool. Many great restaurants just a short drive away and the boys also loved the amusement park in Gulf Shores about 20 min away. The day we left we had one grandson that did not want to leave and another about to cry because he would miss this house. Thanks Derrik and we hope to come again soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

As usual for the past 5 years the Flamingo has provided my family with our perfect get away. The pool is so close it might as well be part of the house. The beach is a 5 minute walk, if you are walking slow. The house has everything you need to start your vacation. Just bring the food and your trunks. I highly recommend the Flamingo to anyone who wants a great place to stay. Derrik and Rodger will make sure you have everything you need. They will communicate all you need to know and they have always gone out of their way to help us in case we needed something not provide. (they recommended someone to take pictures for us on the beach). So make a stay, and have a great time.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We have pets so The Flamingo was perfect for us. It was overlooking the pool and just a short walk to the beach which was really nice. Morgantown is quite a distance from the exciting Gulf Shores nightlife but was great for our family vacation. The owner prepared us for our stay with a list of need to bring items. We will definitely stay in Morgantown again.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, families with young children.

We spent a week at the house. We enjjoyed our stay VERY WELL. The house is well maintained and was great for us as we travel with our dog. Everything was well maintained. Communication with the owner went well. The large screen TV was nice. I have nothing bad to say - we loved it! First trip to Gulf Shores with my family,we enjoyed the beach house we rented. This is an excellent house for handicap people ,plenty of room to navigate,my son could go anywhere he wanted in the downstairs. The beach was nice and clean and we enjoyed some of the local attractions.I would definitly come again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We spent a delightful 5 days and 4 nights at the beautiful Flamingo. The house was perfect for our needs and stocked with all the amenities of home. The house was extremely clean and well cared for. Morgantown is a quite and peaceful neighborhood with 2 pools and a tennis court. Beach access couldn't have been easier. We drove and parked in a large parking area and walked across the boardwalk. The Flamingo is just steps from the pool. We enjoyed walking late in the day through the neighborhood and saw many other people doing the same or riding bikes. Very friendly community. We shopped in Foley and Orange Beach and ate some delicious meals at DeSoto's in Gulf Shores, Cafe Grazie's in Orange Beach and even had a fabulous experience at a local Japanese restaurant in Foley (near Lowe's). The beaches were beautiful when we were there. We were sad to leave and can't wait to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: The Moores have spent all of their lives in Alabama and enjoy accommodating vacationers into the Gulf Shores / Fort Morgan area along with Lake Martin. We've been accommodating vacationers now for over 20 years. We own our rental homes so we take care of them and our guests the way they should be. It's all about 'The Golden Rule' you know! We don't allow any management agencies and/or companies to rent out or manage our properties. We do all of this ourselves. Why the Owner Chose Morgantown:
GOLF-GOLF-GOLF!! There must be at least 15 golf courses within 30 minutes away and two are within 10 minutes away! The World Famous Kiva Dunes Golf Course (Voted #1 course in Alabama and Jerry Pate developed) is only ONE MILE away! You gotta play Kiva Dunes!
BIRD LOVERS: The Alabama Birding Coastal Trail has a stop in Fort Morgan.
CIVIL WAR and HISTORY BUFFS: The Mobile Bay Civil War Trail.
Fort Morgan State Park. 'Damn the torpedoes. Full speed ahead!' You can almost hear the command of Admiral David Farragut as he led his troops into the battle of Mobile Bay. Today Fort Morgan is a testament to the evolution of American coast defense fortifications from 1834 to World War II. It's a history lesson waiting to be explored. Some regard it as 'one of the finest examples of military architecture in the New World'. Fort Morgan was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960. In 2007 it was listed as 'one of the nation's 10 most endangered battle sites' by the Civil War Preservation Trust in History Under Siege: A Guide to America's Most Endangered Civil War Battlefields. Just 6 miles away! Then take the Mobile Bay Ferry over to see anther Civil War site, Fort Gaines.
We think that this part of the Gulf of Mexico is 'the last frontier' in that it has not been commercialized like Panama City, Destin, Pensacola, and even Orange Beach and Gulf Shores to an extent. You really feel like you are on your own private peninsula here! As one member of my family stated when we purchased our first property here, 'Let's move here!'.

The Flamingo is in a cul-de-sac in the private beach community of Morgantown. This offers a VERY safe environment for children and the elderly. It is RIGHT NEXT to the pool and is beach side. You get the best of both worlds at the Flamingo, POOL and BEACH! There is a zero-level and ramped entrance into the Flamingo that allows easy access for wheelchairs and those that can't handle steps very well. The Mobile Bay Ferry takes you over to Dauphin Island where you can then visit Fort Gaines, USS Alabama, and all of Mobile, AL. Biloxi, MS (Las Vegas of the South!) is just east of Mobile via I-10.
